You cant let people get to you. I know its hard because your so kind hearted but you can't let them make you feel bad. If they want a plant they will get on there faster like the rest of us have had to do. Keep your head up and give yourself a break. You need to take care of yourself first 😊

I absolutely agree with this! You are NOT entitled to ANYTHING. You wait in line just like everyone else. You have nothing to feel bad for or be sorry for, you aren’t upsetting anyone. You CANNOT sit there with a plant in your cart for hours and expect it to not get sold when this is a small business, not a store. You shouldn’t change your website for people that are upset, you’ve worked so hard and this is for YOU! I legit missed every single drop and all I did was ask kindly when the drops come, someone replied just as kindly! You are doing amazing! Remember jealousy is UGLY. We love you Melissa! ❤
Hi Melissa! I’ve tried ordering since your site went up. Now it’s my biggest challenge. One day I’ll be fast enough lol. Don’t stress it! It’s new- this is how you iron out wrinkles in a new business. I really believe that people know they will get quality products from you - and that’s why you would be their preferred seller. That’s a good thing!!! Keep up the great work. Take time for you and hubby (and Star, Luna, and Chai of course)❤
We can also just practice patience and not make others feel bad when we don't get our way (or when somebody places a plant order before us). I hope you are doing okay now ❤
It's so cute that your trying to recruit your husband as your manager... That is the best.😊 I hope the UPS worker appreciates her thoughtful gift. You'll have to let us know her response on the next video you post❤
Hoping he can be able to help me some. We'll see how it goes here! She was so appreciative! She was helping another person so I didn't get to talk to her much that day but I saw her yesterday when I dropped a couple off and she thanked me again. The other worker was like you can bring in 20 more if you want 😂😂
I remember early in your RUclips endeavor when you had a few growing pains about your work. I also remember the anxiety you had about your move from NC to Savannah when you were packing all your plants for the journey. Well, everything worked out, look at you now. You’ve become an excellent educator and absolutely deserving of the title Plantologist Extraordinaire that I bestowed upon you. Now I’ll have to add Plantologist Entrepreneur to your list of titles! You are a very hard worker and a caring person. Much respect from me and thanks for what you do for us plant aficionados.
That was a sweet comment for Melissa and well deserved! I, too remember her in NC way before she moved and she always seemed to have a knack with plants and so much compassion and love for them. She knew exactly what they needed so I dubbed her as the "plant whisperer". I'm glad she is doing what she is doing and has a successful business!
Thank you, David! You're such a kind person and I appreciate you for being here and for the support. The move was definitely stressful haha but excited it all worked out and the plants are a lot more happy here 😁

Hi Melissa! One day I promise I’ll remember getting on at 4pm on Friday’s to buy from your shop I want one from you! Work gets in the way though and I forget. 😅
It is so thoughtful of you to pack Alocasias the day they ship 😊🥰 I'm lucky to have a place who made boxes in my city in Canada. Maybe they sell in the USA too, were really close to Vermont, like 1h30. It is called : Boxpack it is in Drummondville QC Canada.
Customer service - yikes. You can't please everyone. Give yourself a break. You just started. You are working it out. We are SO proud of you! I love seeing your process. Thank you for sharing your chaotic, beautiful life. 💚
Do you propagate what you sell from mother plants or do you buy in seedlings to sell? I’d love to start my own planty business but I don’t have much stock. Thanks! 🪴💚
I grow and prop from my own plants and I buy plants for me that I'll eventually propagate down the road for the shop. Some people buy plants wholesale from a greenhouse or nursery or they'll import and then sell them at an increased price to profit. I want to keep my plant prices from being too high but I also want to account for the healthy plants I'm growing and the care I put into them. So there's different ways to sell plants but selling props or cuttings from your own is probably the most cost effective.
This video was so interesting and relaxing to see! I'm still a new subscriber, but the more videos I see from you, the more I like you. I like your calm manner and the insights you give us into your everyday life. Your plants are a dream! I would love to order in your shop, but I am too far away. Hi Melissa, thank you for sharing your video. I love how you take such good care of your plants, especially when packing and shipping! I also love how your hubby popped onto the camera..you have done so much work. You deserve a break, so I hope you enjoy Florida. I ll look forward to seeing your next visit. Have a good trip.❤
Hi Melissa, for reference, I sell things such as shoes & boots often with the original shoe boxes via Poshmark. I order boxes in bulk from USPS online & they’re free. Obviously idk what sizes u need, but the dimensions are listed.
Here in Oregon we’re having lows in the 40’s too. But our days are only in the middle 60’s during the day. Except the 90 degree weekend we’ve got coming up.
Melissa! You do you, stop worrying about everyone else. You are tooooooo nice! lol You are doing such a great job and everyone wants what you’re selling including me but I can wait for it so stop stressing! That’s an order! 🦋 Love youuuuuuuu from New Jersey
You may be able to hire a remote person, who can help you with some things. Not packing plants (obviously) but monitoring orders, taking care of photos, inventory, etc.
I hate leaving my furry babies too. We have a 7 day trip at end of July but flying mom to watch them. Usually they’re good alone for 3 days but 7 is too long. I miss them so much.
always bummed when i look and youre sol out, crappy part about working during the release :( eventually i will get a plant from you and im ok with that! im happy that youre selling out fast, that is so awesome! its been a joy watching your content and i cant wait until i get my very own plant by Melissa :) i just tell myself that if i havent landed one yet, that just means the right plant hasnt presented itsself yet. having 200 + different plants, its hard for me to even find plants i like a lot of places. ive definitely learned a lot from your channel and i appreciate you!
So true is hard to get items when it goes live on the website. Which i have experienced on items that are customised by hand. When you check out the items and by the time you fill in your details and pay the items are sold. Which is very frustrating which happened 3 times so I have given up in buying them now.
I love your channel, and does your cat ever try to chew or break the stems or leaves of the plants. I’m just asking because I used to have an aloe plant and my cats kept trying to break the leaves. thank you
Hello Melissa, I am one of those people who would love to buy a hoya plant from you but keep missing out on your sales. Mostly because of the time different, maybe, who knows. Anyway, I think you are doing a great job, and I know it takes time when running a new business by yourself.
Thank you, Jackie! I hope to have more hoyas in the coming months. I have so much propagating I want to do. I make them live right on the dot at 4 pm my time Eastern but they seem to go within the first 10 minutes.
Aw thank you so much for buying her! I'm happy to hear the new leaf unfurled well. It's such a beautiful albo and I loved being able to send her off to someone who I know will appreciate it 🥰
I am the same way with leaving my kitties! I don’t like to leave them more than 3 days for sure. We go to Mexico every year for a week and have people check on them everyday, feed and litter and I always come home to a lot of…. Surprises…. 😅 One of my cats is also named Luna! Or looney Luna, Looney Tunes 😝
Hey Melissa, If the migrating process is to complicated or not possible, maybe you could consider a waiting list where you record all the people who missed out and then they get first dibs next drop. I have bought from websites in Australia that have that facility and it pretty much guarantees you get the plant you want. Perhaps it's because you have a much more limited stock than they do but thought I'd mention it. And what a good sport hubby is helping you with the boxes 👏🏼💪 haha and then he plays peekaboo hahaha!!! And yes the standing desk is such a good idea. My daughter is a digital artist and she got an adjustable standing desk for that exact reason. She bought the OMNIDESK (from an Australian company). It's a bit pricey but she swears by it 👌🏼👌🏼 I'm sure there are cheaper alternatives that you can find closer to you. And what a lovely gesture to the UPS lady...you're a very lovely person🫶
I haven’t ordered from you yet but when people check out, are there faster options like Apple Pay, Venmo, or PayPal. Putting in creditcard info which includes name, address, etc…takes a while (in comparison😂) so I can see why people get frustrated but those other methods are so dang quick because all the info is saved, it’s awesome. Now I expect it and if places don’t take them, I’m super annoyed 🙄😂 I can check out in 2 seconds with Apple Pay which is my favorite:)
Your hard work shows through and you channel is always so fun to watch ❤. I would absolutely LOVE it if you were able to shift to spotify. So many around the world are currently boycotting wix (they directly support the Gaza genocide) and I would be so much more comfortable supporting a different platform
it was pretty cool getting to see my plant getting packed! thank you SO much for the care you take in your plants & the shipping process. i'm in the freight business, so i know what can happen to packages through the whole process of moving, you're doing GREAT!! 💚
I have been doing props to donate to the local Humane Society thrift shop. It seems like some are getting too much light. What is the right amount of distance that each prop should be please?
What kind of light are they getting? South and west facing windows can be a lot for some plants and it depends on how blocked the light is coming in but I just back them away about a foot or two if I notice any signs of stress. You can make sure no sun is hitting the leaves.
Hi Melissa, I really like your videos, in previous video you said you ll make a video about how you take care of lechuza pon and I was really excited to see it, but you never uploaded it, so I was wondering when you ll be able to make one? I have my alocasias in lechuza pon, but I just started growing a few and more re coming, so I really want to know how you do it, as you are most experienced among plant bloggers and I really love your plants, they look so cool and healthy)) and if you ever have time to make a video about how you treat against pests, fertilizer process, would be awesome)) Thank you so much))
I filmed it before we left to go out of town but I didn't get a chance to edit it and when I uploaded the footage to my editing software the first part of the video with me chatting was out of focus and I felt like I rushed it so I'm going to re-film it actually tomorrow. It will be a long one for me to edit so I'll do the best I can to work on it but I have plant restock this week as well so I can't promise it will be up this week.
I tried several times to buy from your site even within 1 hour of your site opening it was sold out so I just gave up. I still watch all your videos And love your page😫😘
I work for a small business and Uline can be good for the right thing. Calling customer service is also more time consuming but sometimes can get you more option. See if you can find a local shipping supply store mom and pop shop places are better about helping you find what you need. If you can’t find anyone looking online try getting contact with the small business association they may be able to help with better supplies.
It took me three weeks before I was able to find a plant that was not ‘out of stock’ in your shop. I want to buy from you but I just can't stomach the shipping cost. I know there are materials, labor, etc, I do understand but I’m not that far from you. I'll just continue to enjoy your videos. 😊
Shipping is expensive especially depending on the weight of the package and distance from me. I don’t profit from shipping it’s just how much UPS charges me and I usually end up paying more to cover the cost. I could make shipping cheaper but I would have to increase the price of the plants. It wouldn’t even be worth selling some of the plants I do with the costs of materials and everything or there would need to be a minimum purchase.
I don't think I'll ever lose passion for plants and if I do something is wrong lol. I love being able to grow and care for them. I'm honestly not sure where the shop will lead but I still want to be able to manage everything I'm doing as far as RUclips and creating content. I love staying busy so it's been a good change. I've only been selling for a short time so I know it'll get better as I go and find a routine that works.
Oh my goodness, my husband and I just came back from Arizona for 3 nights as well! We live in Washington so we had to fly back and forth👀👀 I was missing my kitties and oh my lord my Plants😅 thankfully everyone was OKAY! Right now I am doing drops every week but sometimes I skip weeks. The next one is this Friday and I post them at a certain time so people know when to expect them. I only sell through my website plantsbymelissa.com. I can only manage small batches right now with about 40-50 plants a drop and once they're gone I'll have more available for the next one 🫶
It happens. Do we get to buy everything we want all the time? Last week I tried to buy a plant from a seller in my own country and it was sold. So what did I do? I moved on. 🤷🏻♀️ Then the greenhouse owner called and sent me videos of the top chop of the plant I wanted that he found in his main storage of motherplants,(I think he changed his mind just to sell it because I loved it.(It was a monstera delisioca albo.)and I bought it. Sometimes it doesn't work out and next minute it gets way better. So to sellers and costumers, don't worry or feel like it is a competition to buy plants. We are here to support both groups. ❤

always bummed when i look and youre sol out, crappy part about working during the release :( eventually i will get a plant from you and im ok with that! im happy that youre selling out fast, that is so awesome! its been a joy watching your content and i cant wait until i get my very own plant by Melissa :) i just tell myself that if i havent landed one yet, that just means the right plant hasnt presented itsself yet. having 200 + different plants, its hard for me to even find plants i like a lot of places. ive definitely learned a lot from your channel and i appreciate you!
😂 hubby is so funny :) I thought he was going to do the going down the mechanical stairs trick for a moment 😂 You are such a cute couple 💕
You are awesome, Melissa! But DON"T get burned out please! I did ship plants for about a year and it was a lot of work!
It’s really relaxing watching you pack up with a little background music to watch with it.
Your hubby is so funny 😂 I can’t wait for this Friday! I hope I get lucky again 🤞😆
You are so sweet gifting that beautiful Manjula to your UPS lady 💚💚💚
So true is hard to get items when it goes live on the website. Which i have experienced on items that are customised by hand. When you check out the items and by the time you fill in your details and pay the items are sold. Which is very frustrating which happened 3 times so I have given up in buying them now.
You are totally rockin' your planty business, Melissa! Cannot wait to order from you!❤
Made my 1st purchase with you on 6/14. Cannot wait to see it when it arrives!!🎉🎉🎉
I love your channel, and does your cat ever try to chew or break the stems or leaves of the plants.
I’m just asking because I used to have an aloe plant and my cats kept trying to break the leaves. thank you
I think we need a Melissa on vacation video! Please take us to the beach with you. 🙏🙏
Well I didn’t get any plants but I got other things just now! Maybe I’ll get a plant Friday … gonna set my timer
I really want to buy from you but oh may I would never blame you if I’m not on here quickly enough that’s on me. You just do you 😊
"Crazy to think that some areas still need winter protection "
*Cries in PNW"
As a knife colector i know all to well about getting cart sniped!! The worst but not your fault dont worry with to much it if you cant fix it
Hello Melissa, I am one of those people who would love to buy a hoya plant from you but keep missing out on your sales.
Forever in love with my albo! Her newest leaf just unfurled with much more fenestration and variegation. Thanks for the shoutout melissa! ☺
Aw thank you so much for buying her! I'm happy to hear the new leaf unfurled well. It's such a beautiful albo and I loved being able to send her off to someone who I know will appreciate it 🥰
Just signed up for the news letter and changed my instagram settings for your page ❤
I am the same way with leaving my kitties! I don’t like to leave them more than 3 days for sure. We go to Mexico every year for a week and have people check on them everyday, feed and litter and I always come home to a lot of…. Surprises…. 😅
One of my cats is also named Luna! Or looney Luna, Looney Tunes 😝
aw I know it's so hard to leave them :( We have wondering neighbors so she checked on them while we were gone which I'm so grateful for 🫶
Hi Melissa. What size boxes are you using from Amazon?
oh gosh I have probably 6-7 different sizes now 😬 I mostly use 10-16 inch in length boxes but I have to have different widths too.
Thank you I appreciate it!!
Now I expect it and if places don’t take them, I’m super annoyed 🙄😂 I can check out in 2 seconds with Apple Pay which is my favorite:)
oh yes I do that same lol.
Your hard work shows through and you channel is always so fun to watch ❤. I would absolutely LOVE it if you were able to shift to spotify. So many around the world are currently boycotting wix (they directly support the Gaza genocide) and I would be so much more comfortable supporting a different platform
It makes me sad that someone would be mean to you! You are the kindest heart! I mean the end of this video just says it all!!
A tall collapsible craft table might help when u r packing?
it was pretty cool getting to see my plant getting packed! thank you SO much for the care you take in your plants & the shipping process. i'm in the freight business, so i know what can happen to packages through the whole process of moving, you're doing GREAT!! 💚
Thank you!! 🙏
Great video, I'll take it as inspiration for my next one! 🌱
Your to sweet dont let the downs get to ya chick your rocking this!!!
@plantsbymelissa forgive me for not being more clear. They are on shelves under t5 lights
Thank you so much for the support. They seem to go within the first 10 minutes so most of the time you have to be on right at 4 pm 🤗
As someone who is not quick enough to order anything as of yet, I'm not mad. I realize it's a me problem not a Melissa problem lol🤣🤣

So happy for your business venture. Wishing I was closer to you. 😊 🇨🇦 🪴
Thank you!! 🤗
Enjoyed the video and love watching your packing process! 💕🪴
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed!
Hi Melissa. Just wondering where and how I can purchase your plants? Please let me know. Ty
My website only! plantsbymelissa.com Next drop is tomorrow at 4 pm eastern. If you get approached by Facebook scammers they're not me.
You work so hard. Make sure you take time just for you ❤
can you use the free boxes from the usps ?
If we buy something from you, add our information, is the information already there or does it have to be added each time?
You can sign up and create a log-in and store your information so it's easier to check out 😁
I work for a small business and Uline can be good for the right thing. Calling customer service is also more time consuming but sometimes can get you more option. See if you can find a local shipping supply store mom and pop shop places are better about helping you find what you need. If you can’t find anyone looking online try getting contact with the small business association they may be able to help with better supplies.
Thank you! 🙏
@@plantsbymelissa I sent you and e-mail with some info I found too.
USPS ship free boxes to u
@@plantsbymelissa you know, after considering it further, you're right. Placed my first order today. 😊
Do you worry that as it becomes a business you will start to lose your passion for plants?
with her RUclipsChanel and Socialmedia etc it has been her business for quite some time
I haven’t had a chance to buy anything because they sell out too fast.. kinda stinks
For me, not for you of course lol
I don't think I'll ever lose passion for plants and if I do something is wrong lol. I love being able to grow and care for them. I'm honestly not sure where the shop will lead but I still want to be able to manage everything I'm doing as far as RUclips and creating content. I love staying busy so it's been a good change. I've only been selling for a short time so I know it'll get better as I go and find a routine that works.
I'm sorry 😞
I love your channel
Oh my goodness, my husband and I just came back from Arizona for 3 nights as well! We live in Washington so we had to fly back and forth👀👀 I was missing my kitties and oh my lord my Plants😅 thankfully everyone was OKAY! Whew !🥹
You work SO hard for your shop it’s amazing, I love your dedication and love for it all. Brings me inspiration to hopefully do the same one day! 💝💝
Always remember to do what is best for you, people need to learn patience. Like me, I have yet to purchase a plant from you, BUT, my time will come🥰 seriously can’t wait to get a plant from you one day my friend, all the best energy & wishes to you and your Hubby💝🤞🏻
😂😂😂😂😂😂
🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️🤗❤
Do you have plants on certain days because when I get online it is not plants just pon
Thank you! 🙏🏼 next restock is this Friday. I post the date/time at the top of the website. The plants are still going quickly 🥹 I can only post about 40 plants a restock since it’s just me and I have to package them all 🙏🏼
It is so thoughtful of you to pack Alocasias the day they ship 😊🥰
I'm lucky to have a place who made boxes in my city in Canada. Maybe they sell in the USA too, were really close to Vermont, like 1h30. It is called : Boxpack it is in Drummondville QC Canada.
❤
How do I order plants from you.
It’s much more fun to get a manicure than do it yourself 😊
It's nice to get them done every once in a while 🥰
It happens. Do we get to buy everything we want all the time?
Last week I tried to buy a plant from a seller in my own country and it was sold. So what did I do? I moved on. 🤷🏻♀️
Then the greenhouse owner called and sent me videos of the top chop of the plant I wanted that he found in his main storage of motherplants,(I think he changed his mind just to sell it because I loved it.(It was a monstera delisioca albo.)and I bought it. Sometimes it doesn't work out and next minute it gets way better. So to sellers and costumers, don't worry or feel like it is a competition to buy plants. We are here to support both groups. ❤
You're my favorite Melissa ❤

Here in Oregon we’re having lows in the 40’s too. But our days are only in the middle 60’s during the day. Except the 90 degree weekend we’ve got coming up.
Melissa your such a sweetie and so calm congrats on your new store! Just awesome!
Thank you!! 🫶
STOP the gift for the UPS worker is so thoughtful and sweet 😭😭😭 you’re such a kind soul! 💜💜💜
How did the lady at the post office react???
She was so appreciative! She thanked me again yesterday when I went in there. She was helping another person so I couldn't chat with her much but she was so sweet 🥹
awww girl you are so sweet! don't feel bad about selling out we're happy for you 💚💚💚💚 and there's always another week 😊
You can’t make people happy all the time. What you do is wonderful you grow them and sell them your plants are beautiful I will order in time got to save some money up first.
Your husband is funny with his peaking into the camera lens.
How is your flooded yard?
That was in Florida when we were there this weekend but the friend we stay with has a pump thing so he was working on getting the water down quickly.
Do you ship to Canada?
I don't I'm sorry :( I'm still so new at this and it's been a lot just to ship within the states. I would love for more people to be able to order so hopefully, one day here that can happen 🙏
