Anyone that has made a complaint about a leaf browning clearly isn't an experienced grower that knows that these things are extremely common. Youre doing a great job!
100%!! Im new-ish to the plant hobby and just received an el choco red starter from an Etsy shop and wasnt sure what to do with it. Not really any content to watch on starter plants specifically (only if you can catch a creator mid-video talking about it) so I ended up washing away the peat moss and putting it fluvial the day it got delivered.. Im nervous as hell but I have no idea if it's going to work. if It doesn't.. that's on me!
@@ThePlantySpace it will probably be fine. Even if it drops a couple leaves roots will develop more roots over time. Just make sure to fill up the fluval stratum container with water and let it consume the water before you fill it up again. Its growth will probably be very slow at the beginning due to transplant shock so don’t worry about that. Just leave it on fluval until it has a lot of roots and puts out at least 3 leaves before you change the substrate. It could take months but now it’s summer so the recovery will be faster.
I feel like home grown plants should be at least double price of what they are at the big box store, but of course you also want them to be ‘affordable’. I recently started selling plants on moss poles online and pricing is definitely a bit of a challenge. There is a lot of factors that go into pricing a product and I don’t think we should take on account people thinking they are too pricy. Plants are actually very inexpensive compared to other things… and who doesn’t want to pay for the work that goes into it is just because they don’t appreciate them enough. If you list a plant on Facebook market place for free you get 50 messages in an hour for people to come pick it up, but that doesn’t happen when you put a price on it. We are all looking for a bargain but quality comes with a price.
I love the new card! I remember realizing I could make QR codes for everything and I had a presentation at work and used that to my advantage so I could get a good review😂. 😊. I would also appreciate plants added randomly because I can't seem to ever get to the shop in time either :-).
Pausing this juicy long video to comment about your product availability: I'm one who would randomly check throughout the week, order and *also* check your Friday drop. You'd be willing to combine shipping, if someone was willing to wait for their entire order? The other feedback I'd offer is the timing for people who work a 9-5 M-F job, for whom going live at 4p Fri requires special effort.Ditto for those on the West coast @ 7p drop. Have you ever thought about a Sat sale? I know everyone appreciates that you are considering options for your customers, Melissa.
I'm always happy to combine orders :) I did one restock on Thursday but I felt rushed to get the next set of plants ready and posted by then since I was still packing Monday/Tues and had to water and film/edit for RUclips. Saturday could work but then I would be packing orders the very next day so I worry it doesn't give enough time for email responses so I thought Friday would be the better day. :)

Hi there! I usually end up sticking alocasia's in stratum to grow a bit more and to kinda rehab especially as a little plug. You can keep it under better humidity/light to help them as well. The variegated frydeks love stratum and pon :)
Unfortunately I'm in the UK so can't purchase but I did want to say the plants you think are to small I would be so happy to receive. I would expect that most planty people would know that plants come with imperfections though I thought all yours look so good. The new cards are beautiful and your packaging is so good. Throughout the week would be nice, but I do like the e-mail reminders letting us know plants will be available. I have my alarm set for tomorrow. There is a plant i have wanted to buy from you for a while, and keeping my fingers cross it doesn't sell out before I get to it. I already added some airoid mix to my cart. Listen, at the end of the day you can’t accommodate everyone and you also can’t make everyone happy. What matters is that YOU are happy. You are just one person doing all of this work, you should NOT have to worry about categorizing customers based off of their life issues or preferences. I mean Jesus, you already check the weather FOR them when that’s not your responsibility. That’s going above and beyond as it is, in my opinion. People will push as far as you let them and they are taking advantage of YOUR kindness and the way you run YOUR business. It’s not your fault when they work and where they live or what day the drop or price of plant is best for them. It pains me to see you sad or unhappy because you are the LEAST deserving for anyone to make you feel that way. You lay out the rules, stay true to yourself and your brand and we will follow! Hi Melissa! I have purchased plants with nodes with just activated growth and I personally feel the plant is still worth the money if the new growth isn't too white. Usually these types of cuttings are a "little cheaper" by a few dollars only depending on the variegation from the mother plant it came from. Hope this helps💚💚. 🤗🤗

I love the new card! But if you want to make changes and have the plants on the card as stickers, then maybe take the plants off and move your handles to the front to balance it out. Then you can shrink it easily!
You should try to time your plant feature of the month with the release of plants in your store. Like if you have a bunch of scindapsus you’re gonna release to sale make that your plant feature of the month and have a section on your website for the monthly plant feature. Just a thought

Love the new card inserts! I like the layout you chose ❤️ I get so scared when I create QR codes…like they’re going to change what site they’ll go to or something, which would never happen 😂😂😂 Doing one drop per week or dropping throughout the week is a tough decision. Fridays are good bc that’s typically payday for everyone. Spreading out throughout the week would bring more traffic. I think either way, it’s going to be difficult to please everyone. With the big drops, everyone has their fingers ready to pounce on your listings lol. Dropping through the week gives a better chance to buy something I think, but then people will get mad if they were looking for a particular plant and they missed the drop. With Etsy, it’s unfortunate bc Etsy doesn’t provide customer lists so you can send updates to customers. At least with a website you have control over that. Hope you have a good night! 😊

Thank you so much for ordering! ☺️ I have my main plant just in water and it loves it 😁 it’s rooting nicely so it can stay in the 3 inch pot for a little bit and you can transfer it to your regular mix or whatever you prefer. This one isn’t picky with humidity but they can get crispy if they dry out for too long.

Hi Elaine! I post the next restock date/time at the top of my website. It’s usually 4 pm eastern on Fridays. Most of them are sold in the first 5-10 minutes. I am going to start releasing some during the week though 🙏🏼
Melissa, I'm all for the random additions of plants to the shop. I check the site often to see if I'll get lucky. I have yet to get anything from the drops. What I want always sells out to fast. Also, would love if u added some of the smaller plants. I totally agree that the plants grown in homes with love and care are far superior. At least, that has been my experience. Can't wait to purchase something from u soon!
Your Alocasia’s Cuprea has gorgeous purple leaves! I love how pretty those leaves are when they’re new. Mine all turned greenish way too quickly and I don’t understand why. Is it normal for them to “green” off as they harden? Your shop videos are my favorite, but I watch all of them even the Hoya’s and I am not a fan of Hoya’s. 😂 I hope one day I can be more like you as a planty creator it’s so hard to think about what to talk about for me.
Thank you! Mine is called a " Cuprea Red Secret" The leaves do harden off darker but still has a lot of red/purple/green undertones to it especially in the light :)

My main plant is yes! All my hoyas are in soil/aroid mix so any new ones I repot are going into it :) The ones I sell I put into the prop mix - it's mostly tree fern and perlite with some coco husk/moss.

Kind of off topic. My Aurea that I bought from you ( thank you) has 2 activated nodes after I chopped it. It took me a long time to get the courage to chop it. Soo happy I finally did it.😃 BTW.. can you use pon in a pot extender?
aw yay!! Glad it's doing well and I love that it activated 2 nodes for you :D Yes! I have a couple DIY pon pot extenders for my anthurium plants and they work well!
Seems odd to me that you’d check weather of the location. When you ship the weather can vary along the route. My weather may show in the 70’s but ALL my mail goes to where it is 110 before it gets to me.
Yes :) en route they are in a vehicle that can be temperature controlled but I know not all of them are. If the package is sitting outside though once delivered to someone in extreme weather it can most definitely hurt the plants inside.
Random restock is better in my opinion so everyone isn’t shopping at the same time and you aren’t swamped with packaging all in one or two days. Love seeing behind the scenes of a small business 😊

I preferred your new letter email tbh AND have YOU choose what should go on your shop. In reality, Not everyone isn’t going to get what they want. I understand you want to please people but you don’t want to overwhelm yourself about that stress. There some plants on your shop I want but I personally didn’t get upset because you can only supply limited of what you can sell. We all go to the big box store and all the good plants are taken because no one wants a dying plant or with pest and we have to leave without the plant we want. So, YOU DO YOU, Melissa!💚💚💚💚

I try do to about 3 strands that are rooted with new growth. Some are longer than others but this here I should was a bunch of props I took and I stuck them all in stratum. Once they grow a bit more I'll separate them out.

Hi there! I crossed my clari again a while ago but they take a longgg time to grow. She has about 5-6 berries I can see that are larger but they're still green. It took about 11 months last time so I imagine it will still be awhile before they're ready to be harvested and then I would have to grow them out. This one was from my harvest in December :) I only got 3 then!
Just my opinion as an addict of buying plants online. Do not worry so much about the size of your plants to sell. You take pictures of them and if you put a ruler next to it in the picture the person knows the size when they buy it, so they have no right to complain. 😊 I typically ask the shop owner for an updated picture after I buy it.

But if you want to make changes and have the plants on the card as stickers, then maybe take the plants off and move your handles to the front to balance it out. Then you can shrink it easily!

You should try to time your plant feature of the month with the release of plants in your store. Like if you have a bunch of scindapsus you’re gonna release to sale make that your plant feature of the month and have a section on your website for the monthly plant feature. Just a thought

Doing one drop per week or dropping throughout the week is a tough decision. Fridays are good bc that’s typically payday for everyone. Spreading out throughout the week would bring more traffic. I think either way, it’s going to be difficult to please everyone. With the big drops, everyone has their fingers ready to pounce on your listings lol. Dropping through the week gives a better chance to buy something I think, but then people will get mad if they were looking for a particular plant and they missed the drop. With Etsy, it’s unfortunate bc Etsy doesn’t provide customer lists so you can send updates to customers. At least with a website you have control over that. Hope you have a good night! 😊

Thank you so much for ordering! ☺️ I have my main plant just in water and it loves it 😁 it’s rooting nicely so it can stay in the 3 inch pot for a little bit and you can transfer it to your regular mix or whatever you prefer. This one isn’t picky with humidity but they can get crispy if they dry out for too long.
I love the idea of the random plant listings during the week. Friday evening is date night so I’m never available to try and snag one. 😔 Also, the QR code is such a cool idea. Is that an enter graded options included with your website platform? Or did you create it a different way? I’d love to be able to add one to my business cards to direct clients to my website. ❤

Hi Elaine! I post the next restock date/time at the top of my website. It’s usually 4 pm eastern on Fridays. Most of them are sold in the first 5-10 minutes. I am going to start releasing some during the week though 🙏🏼

Melissa, I'm all for the random additions of plants to the shop. I check the site often to see if I'll get lucky. I have yet to get anything from the drops. What I want always sells out to fast. Also, would love if u added some of the smaller plants. I totally agree that the plants grown in homes with love and care are far superior. At least, that has been my experience. Can't wait to purchase something from u soon!
Plants aren’t perfect. People shouldn’t expect perfection. Let them go when they are ready.
Your Alocasia’s Cuprea has gorgeous purple leaves! I love how pretty those leaves are when they’re new. Mine all turned greenish way too quickly and I don’t understand why. Is it normal for them to “green” off as they harden? Your shop videos are my favorite, but I watch all of them even the Hoya’s and I am not a fan of Hoya’s. 😂 I hope one day I can be more like you as a planty creator it’s so hard to think about what to talk about for me.
Thank you! Mine is called a " Cuprea Red Secret" The leaves do harden off darker but still has a lot of red/purple/green undertones to it especially in the light :)

Are your Hoya linearis in the aroid mix? It's such a nice mix!
My main plant is yes! All my hoyas are in soil/aroid mix so any new ones I repot are going into it :) The ones I sell I put into the prop mix - it's mostly tree fern and perlite with some coco husk/moss.

Seems odd to me that you’d check weather of the location. When you ship the weather can vary along the route. My weather may show in the 70’s but ALL my mail goes to where it is 110 before it gets to me.
Yes :) en route they are in a vehicle that can be temperature controlled but I know not all of them are. If the package is sitting outside though once delivered to someone in extreme weather it can most definitely hurt the plants inside.

Random restock is better in my opinion so everyone isn’t shopping at the same time and you aren’t swamped with packaging all in one or two days. Love seeing behind the scenes of a small business 😊

I preferred your new letter email tbh AND have YOU choose what should go on your shop. In reality, Not everyone isn’t going to get what they want. I understand you want to please people but you don’t want to overwhelm yourself about that stress. There some plants on your shop I want but I personally didn’t get upset because you can only supply limited of what you can sell. We all go to the big box store and all the good plants are taken because no one wants a dying plant or with pest and we have to leave without the plant we want. So, YOU DO YOU, Melissa!💚💚💚💚

The linieris that I got two weeks ago is so pretty with three strands already growing. Very pleased.
I try do to about 3 strands that are rooted with new growth. Some are longer than others but this here I should was a bunch of props I took and I stuck them all in stratum. Once they grow a bit more I'll separate them out.

Hi there! I crossed my clari again a while ago but they take a longgg time to grow. She has about 5-6 berries I can see that are larger but they're still green. It took about 11 months last time so I imagine it will still be awhile before they're ready to be harvested and then I would have to grow them out. This one was from my harvest in December :) I only got 3 then!
Just my opinion as an addict of buying plants online. Do not worry so much about the size of your plants to sell. You take pictures of them and if you put a ruler next to it in the picture the person knows the size when they buy it, so they have no right to complain. 😊 I typically ask the shop owner for an updated picture after I buy it.
