How long should you keep your phone? With the advancements in innovation and increases in price, this question is more important than ever, let's discuss it here in this video! Let's gooo!!
A high end flagship phone should last 3-4 years depending how you take care of it. Unless you're a tech reviewer, there's no reason to upgrade your phone every year.
Rock Kharayat you are just wasting money , you should keep the phone at least 4-5 years or when you have a problem that can't be fixed 400$ is still a lot of money
Well actually, the short and simple answer is when the phone starts lagging and you can't perform your daily tasks on it. It also depends on each person and how he take care of his phone and how he use it. Moreover, if you have money why not upgrading your phone every 2 to 3 years.
Jose Najas Jr. my phone is 7 years old and still using it, and it is not even that bad still running like snapshat, insta, yt, whatsapp ez. So why should i switch?
keep phone as long as possible unless you actually need a new one. Keep sustainability in mind. This will also help companies to adapt to consumers, produce less CO2 and decrease the effect of climate change.
Yeah no, people ain’t gonna stop buying phones if they have the money. So a couple of people waiting to buy a new phone is not gonna end global warming 😂
I think every 3 years is more reasonable, people who buy new phones every year have more money than brains (tech reviewers excluded) Theres not enough changes to do yearly upgrades and is a complete waste of money.
Here’s a suggestion for you see if it helps it worked for me lol. So you get bored of your phone but instead of buying a new one try finding some old school Sony Walkman phones, Nokia N series phones etc and have a play with them for a while they cost much less and make you appreciate your current smartphone much more

Until it physically stops working. My phone came out in 2014. It will be de-supported at the end of the year... and I'm going to keep using it until it physically won't work. It does what I need it to... makes and receives phone calls, plays music, allows web browsing, takes pictures, allows me to check email. How long should you keep a phone is a very valid question. I think your points about processor and battery life, storage capacity, and how you feel about your phone are very on point. I think the most important factor for most people (myself included) is can you afford an upgrade no matter what level you buy at. I have an iPhone 7 Plus (I bought it earlier this year) and I’m very happy with it. I don’t have a great need to have the latest and greatest phone. I like iPhones and as long as I have one that works well, I’m happy. Thanks for the post. It was very helpful.
Hi used to be hooked on getting the latest iPhones until I switched to an android OnePlus 3T. That phone has 128 GB hard disk and almost 3 years later it's running perfect and I absolutely love it :)
I think a lot of people just want the newer phone as soon as they buy one. A friend is still using an i Phone 4. Now she just heeps it to see how long it will last. I kept an S6 for 4 years until the battery got too feeble. But I could have replaced the battery for $75 but a new phone urge was too strong. In short, most people could get a lot more mileage out of their phone but cave in to the new phone craving.
I'm impressed. Actually talking about how the smart phone works as a PHONE. That's rare. Usually, smart pho E reviews are all about the camera and gaming.
I am using 2017's HUAWEI honor 8 Pro,after 2 years, still smooth, still fast, still upto date software updates That's the power of HUAWEI 💓✌️ I meann they never slow down their phones like Samsung and Apple done in the past..they fined as well... If u got a iphone with glass back and suction cup on the back, do not sit or lay down on it even if its on a soft surface. It might break the back glass. Thats how I broke the back glass on my iPhone XR
I never have problems, cause I always do a few things. 1st- I got my phone set, to restart every night. 2nd- once aweek, I go through & throughly check my file folder. Everytime you download from the play store or somewhere else. New folders get made & a bunch of junk get downloaded & I delete what's not suppose to be there. 3rd- I backup my phone & do a full factory reset about every 2-4 months. Everysince I started doing that, my phones run & work, like its brand new.
When the phone slows down, does not receive updates,no more holds battery like it used to, and finally the headphone jack or charging port need to be changed then consider upgrading to a new smartphone it took about 4 years these problems started to accumulate in my old smartphone then decided to upgrade
I hade almost all of these problems on my previous phone, all on one phone(broken, slow, laggy, outdated hardware *&* software, battery died VERY quickly, etc). Got a Redmi Note 8 Pro in December and I'm loving it
My iPhone 7 plus is nearly 3 years old and I plan to keep it for another year. In the past, theft and handset failures have required a new phone. I'm expecting to have to replace my battery this year but I'll keep it for another year. At $700, 4 years is a must.
but this is something no one can disagree on... iPhones are the king in longevity Btw. This is not to throw any hate on fandroids. I merely started a fact. That’s it. You can read the comments and see why I have to edit this lol.

I’ve had my iPhone 7 for almost 3 years now and it works perfectly. The battery is not the best but I deal with it. Going to upgrade to the Samsung S10+ in early fall! :)
Keep it until it no longer does what you want it to - with an exception being if a new phone comes out with a feature that you're likely to use, that isn't available on your current phone (for example if you care about the phone camera, you might upgrade regularly for better photos). Still rocking a 2012/2013 phone here myself, and just planning to buy an up to date tablet to complement it/use newer apps.
@@danilofratangelo3784 Pentagram Monster P430-1, an old discontinued Polish brand. Slow, running Android 4.0 and can't run many newer apps. Nothing special or exceptional about it that makes it worth keeping around this long, but I have 3 personal reasons for still using it: #1: It does the job. I don't use my phone much other than sending texts, looking something up on the internet, etc. It does all of that just fine. This is even more true now since I did buy a tablet like I said I would (iPad Air) so all my app usage gets done through the tablet instead now. Just use the phone for texts/calls/etc. #2: Battery life is decent. 4000mah combined with an old version of Android and little usage means I get about 6 days between charges. #3: It's 4.3". I have small hands and most newer phones are waaaay too big for me to use two-handed. Meanwhile this one is just the right size. If I went for a newer phone I'd have to grab something like the iPhone SE, since most newer phones are really not made with small hands in mind.
Until the phone falls a part. I had my Note 4 which purchased used on eBay for 5 years. LOVE that phone. But recently it was somewhat unresponsive then took it out of the case and realized the screen is peeling off and disengaging from the body. So yeah new phone time! Got an iPhone 11 at the Apple store. Hopefully this phone will last me as long as my Note 4.
I have an iPhone SE 16gb currently, it was first bought for my sister in 2016 but given to me in 2017. Currently I’m planning on buying the Samsung Galaxy A50 64gb in the next few days! This is because well I’m starting to be more interested by Samsung and it’s features and glory, my iPhone has taken some falls, not too fast with 2-3 minor chips and the screen came loose a little in one corner which allowed for tea tree oil to seep in making more than my half of my screen blueishwhite tones, it has also randomly shut down on me before with glitches and freezing and I hate that I have to clear my storage at least once a month. I think a phone should last at least 3-4 years minimum:))
Lol yup all these tech RUclipsrs stay saying software updates but Android updates don't add much because they have been ahead of IOS in recent years so updates don't really add much but "security"

Same. When I upgraded from iPhone 5 to 6s there was a noticeable difference in performance. Now I have the iPhone X and the iPhone 12 looks and feels like the same phone. I won’t upgrade the next 4 years for sure.
I’ve had my iPhone 6 for almost 5 years this fall, and it still works really well. Unfortunately I’ll miss out on iOS 13, and it’s a little sluggish sometimes, but it gets everything I need to get done done.

Every 6-7 years is a sweet spot for me aswell

Watching on my galaxy S4. After MANY years of saving, things coming up and money being spent because of it, im finally getting the S10 tomorrow!
Dang, that's going to be a pretty big difference using it. Are you getting the standard s10?
@@davidkhrystenko yeah standard s10. I can only imagine the bump in performance and fluidity. From 2GB RAM and 16GB storage to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage
I think for people who can't afford to buy a new phone every year should upgrade every 3-5 years. Depending on issues that they are experiencing.
I keep it as long as possible.
I keep every phone that I owned
Hi used to be hooked on getting the latest iPhones until I switched to an android OnePlus 3T. That phone has 128 GB hard disk and almost 3 years later it's running perfect and I absolutely love it :)
i still have the Samsung Galaxy Edge 7 since launch, soon I'll be updating to the note 9 . I would say to 2 or 3 years to upgrade
Watching it on LG G6, bought right after launch and still going strong! Gonna keep for 1 more year from now.
I still use my Galaxy Note 4 as a back up but use an S8 as my daily driver and it looks like I'm upgrading this year... looking at the a70
Not exactly a upgrade but better battery life and fast charging
been using Mi A2 for about 6 months now....after the video i think it could last for 2 years. thanks nick for the video! it helps.
That's a great phone.
Thank y nick about this vedio i am following y from iraq❤️

Which one will you buy ?
Xr
@DeerHunter777 I already do my sister and friend has it and I love it so much if it didn't exist I would've got the s8 because I love that one too
Lol "battery life dies"
- goes and picks up a iPhone -
until you got enough money to buy new
That's interesting..but if you have not any money then you have to use your phone till it get damaged
This makes more sense.
I still using my samsung phone i purchased it way back 2014 the day it was released. 💪📱
It keeps working so for me no need to buy a new one.
You are the best Nick, keep up the great work
I am using 2017's HUAWEI honor 8 Pro,after 2 years,still smooth,still fast,still upto date software updates
That's the power of HUAWEI 💓✌️
I meann they never slow down their phones like Samsung and Apple done in the past..they fined as well...
Ps-Please come slowly everyone will get chance in debate
Apple products don't know how to break
until u drop it
Yes.. because they bends
Oh yeah, just watch Louis Rossman's channel on RUclips to see how easily they break
I had iPhone 5 since launch,i just changed battery once.working perfectly
When the phone slows down, does not receive updates,no more holds battery like it used to, and finally the headphone jack or charging port need to be changed then consider upgrading to a new smartphone it took about 4 years these problems started to accumulate in my old smartphone then decided to upgrade
The perfect video I always wanted nick!👍🏻
I kept my last phone for 5 years. Now I have the S10 plus. Hoping it will also last 5 years
It will.. just makesure you change the battery every 1/2 years if you want longer battery life

I have a Google pixel 3 XL that I'm still using it works fine and hasn't received updates since 2021.
I always try to keep up, so a year to a year in a half. But that’s just me
I hade almost all of these problems on my previous phone, all on one phone(broken, slow, laggy, outdated hardware *&* software, battery died VERY quickly, etc). Got a Redmi Note 8 Pro in December and I'm loving it
Well if you are buying a samsung or apple flagship or a 1000 dollar flagship just keep it for atleast 4 years
My iPhone 7 plus is nearly 3 years old and I plan to keep it for another year. In the past, theft and handset failures have required a new phone. I'm expecting to have to replace my battery this year but I'll keep it for another year. At $700, 4 years is a must.
but this is something no one can disagree on... iPhones are the king in longevity
Btw. This is not to throw any hate on fandroids. I merely started a fact. That’s it. You can read the comments and see why I have to edit this lol.
Onlye if u r ready to get left behind the tech world i mean 5watt charging 4G phone with huge bezels and notch and if IPHONE XR then 720 LCD display.and non type c port in 2020 or 2022 is like a stone age man showing and using his AXE to cut food lol😁
Androids are best for technological longetivuty and software support yes software support as most Android give custom rom.options like xiaomi one plus..u can update android version for like 10 years if u own such device..and one plus pro5G can surely last next 4years with its QHD 90Hz AMOLED screen 4000mah battery and 30watt charging..and yeah type C port and 5G contactivity and forever software
Support on custom.roms...anyway..u look like some uninformed iphone user who knows little about smartphone competetion

I’ve had my iPhone 7 for almost 3 years now and it works perfectly. The battery is not the best but I deal with it. Going to upgrade to the Samsung S10+ in early fall! :)
I have Android 7.0 do you think i should upgrade?
Root
Code RazorX Get a Pixel 3a it has Android P and also updates for like 3 years I think.
Out of curiosity, which phone is this 12/13?
@@danilofratangelo3784 Pentagram Monster P430-1, an old discontinued Polish brand. Slow, running Android 4.0 and can't run many newer apps. Nothing special or exceptional about it that makes it worth keeping around this long, but I have 3 personal reasons for still using it:
#1: It does the job.
Still rocking Samsung Grand Prime and sometimes a S7
I own a grand too. The battery is bad but it still works!
If it is flagship atleast 5,6 yrs
If it is mid range phn only 1 to 1.5 yr that's it
I have an iPhone SE 16gb currently, it was first bought for my sister in 2016 but given to me in 2017.
Watching this from a galaxy s6 edge
Rich Beast got the s6 edge plus
How is it your phone doing
Might be time to change
You can keep your phone as long as you want even if they stop updating the phone. That dosent mean it's not useful
Lol yup all these tech RUclipsrs stay saying software updates but Android updates don't add much because they have been ahead of IOS in recent years so updates don't really add much but "security"
Watching on my samsung a5 (2016) wich i bought in end 2015
Great job nick . Just want to put something out there, most you tubers don't realise some of us are minimum wage brothers and sisters. we want the latest and greatest like everyone else. Buying a smartphone for the 99% of us is an investment and we want a phone that is 'future proof' . The question is which phone will last the longest in the future? Is it that what we want to know people....?

Iphone: 4 to 6 years max

Umm... millions of apple users still own an iPhone 5 or 5s.
are YOU the one who’s trippin?
Elio can’t say the same about the 5S. Can you?
Yes, it has a tiny 4 inch screen
@@ibrahimsafwat He may not say the 5s is trash but to me, the 5s was unbearable to use. Actually, the iPhone 5s was the reason for me to switch to Android and let's just say that I don't regret it. I've had oneplus 3 for 3,5 years now and it still works like new. No need to upgrade.
I’ve kept my iPhone 6s for almost 4 years now. It still works fine. It’s the phone I’m using to make this comment.
Hey Nick, can you reccomend a battery health app for android users?
Accubattery .
3:40 no that's wrong. if you still get bad battery after replacing the battery then you should try a factory reset.
I have galaxy note9 512gb and I have 400gb sd card. I'm not upgrading until Samsung release a full screen phone with front camera under the screen!

If you replace the battery, why would you still have battery issues?
I still have a Galaxy S7 running android oreo with the exynos version and I think it's working well, but I wanna try a S9 I want a real Flagship experience
I still have an iPhone 6 on 12.4 that is still working well. Not as powerful as my XR but it does every task I need.
I know you meant 12.3.1 but man, wouldn’t .4 be nice to get before 13.0?
You should keep your smartphone for 4 years.
This type of consumer advice is why i subscribed to this channel.
Every year if you use a Samsung device and are in the Samsung upgrade program.
Usually until the battery stops holding a charge, about 2 1/2 - 3 years. I currently using a IPhone Xs and still at 95% battery health, so no plans to upgrade anytime soon. The processors is the least of my concern, these things have gotten so fast I never really notice the difference with what I do with them.
Same. When I upgraded from iPhone 5 to 6s there was a noticeable difference in performance. Now I have the iPhone X and the iPhone 12 looks and feels like the same phone. I won’t upgrade the next 4 years for sure.
I change it every 3 years, no matter what 🤷🏻♂️😂
I’ve had my iPhone 6 for almost 5 years this fall, and it still works really well. Unfortunately I’ll miss out on iOS 13, and it’s a little sluggish sometimes, but it gets everything I need to get done done.
@0symo Yeah, I got an 11 Pro Max on its release in 2019. I love it 😂
I have one year and half with iphone x and with new ios 13 the phone is more faster its fells like new one i love IOS
