    I'm saying the same thing across every next NHL game video.. the truest and most sincere wishlist item we deserve is a canceled game and the end of yearly releases. We are conditioned to expect a game every year and expect it to be buggy from start to finish when it's life cycle expires in 11 months after release. 2-3 year release windows should be our normal. It's a good and chill community for the most part and we deserve better.

      Couldn’t agree more. It says a lot that my current greatest hope for each new NHL game is ‘not worse’. Every feature that isn’t broken from one release to another feels like some kind of win. It’s embarrassing.
      I honestly believe that no one on the current dev team really understands the underlying code base from NHL 09. At least that’s what it looks like to a guy who strictly plays EASHL.

      @@eebik exactly, we are so conditioned.. I know for me expanding off your comment,there's been many times in the past years I've ignored broken or buggy parts to not "ruin the experience" which is such crap. The amount of times I've said "maybe next year" or "ah it's fine" .. like no I've definitely grown up and realized especially after nhl 24 that we deserve quality. A gaming culture shift is desperately needed.

      @@johnnyparnell8181 real kicker here is that despite all this…I’ve never been able to find another game that scratches the same itch. Not even close. Where I can have a persistent team with a small group of friends to play online with against others. Stat tracking, team customization…there just doesn’t seem to be anything else out quite there like it (aside from FIFA I guess). And on top of that, I never laugh more than I do during our weekly EASHL nights. It’s such a weird spot to be in.

    This is the best wishlist nhl video I’ve ever watched. You actually want gameplay changes. I feel like everyone else just wants better game modes or certain game modes being fixed when it’s actually the gameplay that’s horrible. The skill gap is who can abuse a glitch more. It needs fixed.

  • @Jokuvaanjee
    @Jokuvaanjee Месяц назад +2

    Agreed with pretty much everything you said. I have been hoping for similar changes since the end of PS3 & Xbox 360 era.
    I feel like in that generation EA NHL gameplay was at it’s peak and with the PS4/ Xbone era the game series started to regress, one of the biggest issues was reducing of the skill gap in many ways, one was making things easier and simpler to do and another reducing the reward for difficult things such as you mentioned this not only reduces the enjoyment for aiming to hone your skills as a player but it also promotes gameplay that is counterproductive for actual hockey.
    Now skill was still with the game even thought EA tried to suppress it but in a unintended way this opened the door even more for glitches, by finding exploits and breaking the game was the only way for skill players to find new ways of scoring and defending that brought the skill-gap back in a way, now the gameplay of top players resembled actual hockey even less. Of course there are expections like Eki whose gameplay relies more on tactics and hockey IQ rather than mechanical skill and glitches but he is a rare breed.
    So just by fixing the gameplay by rewarding actually dangerous scoring changes, punishing mistakes and tuning all elements of gameplay to the proper working actual hockey like state the skill-gap would naturally increase as a result.
    The chaotic nature of hockey would still stay if the devs would accurately try to implement real life hockey as much as possible, no need for too much rng, the speed, bouncing puck and human error will bring surprising results naturally even at the highest levels of the esport.
    I have been saying these things for more than a decade.

    While I have my own disagreements on some of these gameplay change ideas (See below), I am glad to hear someone say that this is the best game we have had. Yes it has its problems but there is also a lot of good this game has and people just cast it into the darkness for the things that it does wrong. I agree with a lot of what you have said though, especially about Defense and Goal Scoring being balanced but improperly. This is something I consistently preach about with EASHL friends is that the amount of goals being scored is good but the ones that should go in don't and the ones that should be saved end up trickling in.
    Disagreement List:
    Such things like One touch passing is good as it removed the ability to precharge/cook your passes to max power. They need to remove the 0% pass assist on it though.
    Line Change energy I think is fine, problem is the hitting is so strong and the window for contact without a penalty is so high that people are getting hit after passing it over a second prior.

    • @Batman-bh6vw
      @Batman-bh6vw Месяц назад

      I haven't really tested it but I think the main issue with aiming the one-touch passes is that it locks in the direction when you press the pass button, when it should actually be the last directional input before the player passes the puck.

    Was seeing a lot of people saying goalies need more variation to the style they play. We have a slider on skaters for shot tendency and pass tendency right? Why not add a tendency slider for certain scenarios. For example some goalies like sitting in RVH on their posts and some do not. Add a slider tendency for this. Another example from playing goalie in real life some goalies tend to over lap the post on skaters cutting in from the wall or they sit more far side to just cover more of the net and rely more on their blocker to make those saves cutting in. why not add a slider tendency for this too? I just feel like this would make each goalie individual and you would have to feel them out to see what tendency they are giving you to shoot at the net.

      Hitting also have some weird collision IMHO, alot of time knee on knee hit/collision doesn't have any impact, Same goes for the goaltender sticks when you are doing a "flying pokecheck" and you hit the skates, the skater doesn't lose any balance at all and 9/10 times it's a goal

    The game has a huge issue with zone transitions and momentum. In real life you can throw a pass to someone curling and they would naturally turn and go up the ice. In this game there is always a stutter that gives the defense a chance to setup. This also greatly diminishes players with top speed that can never blow by the defense. Make zone transitions and natural zone pass reception animations fluid.

    referring to what you said about the goalies @2:40 that's honestly jus a bad play and the shot wasn't taken quick enough for the goalie to not have a chance of stopping it. The goalie had literally enough time to go over and be ready for the shot because of the hesitation of the shot so maybe just making faster and better play's would help you i agree on buffing the defense and actually reworking the A.I so the defense can actually make good plays but the goalies are already bad enough they don't need to be nerfed and if your not good at the game then work on your gameplay but don't nerf something that's barely good as is.......if anything they need to fix the goalies more and make them harder to play against because the consistently let in bullshh goals......i agree about changing the way goalies play the puck they need to have different ways of playing to stop glitch goals from going in all the time..............as far as the hitting is concerned i think the main issue is it seems like when I'm getting ready to hit someone if I'm going to miss the hit instead of me missing the hit once i hit circle it's like it moves to adjust so i make hit's i know i should of missed being out of position and some of the hit's are overpowered like i can see a little hit on some occasions and some are pretty much right on the money but majority of the time the hit's seem way to hard for the position and speed of my player and a player will jus go flying instead of just falling to the ground.......as far as the defense knowing where the pass is going the defense should know where the pass is going the moment a player would direct his body or stick in a certain direction just like real life so what are you even talking about?

    • @sopulii04
      @sopulii04  Месяц назад

      The play at 2:40 was to demonstrate the exact opposite point though. The point is, that instead of trying to get a quick shot short side, you can try to wait the goalie out by holding on for a little bit before shooting so the goalie would OVER react to the pass.

    Surprised you don't seem to think the hip check is OP. It's very easy to do, you can't reverse it and the size and attributes of the players involved don't matter. Even after the "nerf" you're guaranteed to take the guy down unless you have almost no speed.

    The hitting is very inconsistent. You can be facing the opposite direction to the opposing player. Your arms outstretched away from them, they touch your back, and you get a penalty. It makes no sense in any logical standpoint. I understand they wanted to make hitting a little more skill based, but they broke it in the process. Not to mention the way you can level someone with a devastating body check, and they're up skating away from you back into the play before the animation follow through is over. Even though you landed the hit, you're at the disadvantage.
    I mostly play WOC. In 3s you see a ton of the same stuff over and over in regards to glitches against goalies because there's more time to do them generally. Would like to see goalies have more reactions, but doubt it. Glitches will always be a part of this series.
    A small change would be reconnection in WOC. If you d/c in 3s, but two of your teammates are still playing. Why can't you reconnect to your team? It would be a nice QOL feature.
    Having an option for "open" would be nice, too. Could just have a teammate join in the 2nd or 3rd. Granted, that box had been ticked by both teams.

I think there's reason to have faith in the gameplay team right now and I'm optimistic. The content team, on the other hand, has given me zero reason to feel optimistic with how they handled NHL24 lol
    I think there's a lot of garbage criticism of the game out there, and that probably makes it harder for them to even get a grasp on how to approach things, which is unfortunate.

      100% agreed. Also people are really good at forgetting what they don't miss from prior NHL games. For example I've seen many people saying NHL 21 was the best game... I don't think they remember how HORRIBLE it was to try to defend forced backdoors in that game.
      And what you say about garbage criticism is also so important. I think EA gets so much hate for everything that it leads to them thinking they need to make drastic changes to the game. When in reality, the vast majority of things in the game are already pretty good and shouldn't even be messed with before getting the few actual issues out of the game. Focus on the big issues first, fix them, and ONLY THEN start paying attention to the things that are currently just a little bit off.

      We me one timers are random af. Some games every single one timer goes in some games no matter how insanely tight my one timers are they save it….

    Does EA use the frostbite engine for their NHL games?

    Paljon hyviä juttuja kerroit mitä pitäisi parantaa. Miksi NHL pitää julkaista joka vuosi? Olisi hyvä, jos saisivat hiottua edes yhden pelin sen verran hyväksi, niin sitä voisi pelata vaikka useamman vuoden. Toki saavat rahaa helvetisti julkaisemalla joka vuosi uuden änärin. Mutta uudistukset eivät ole aina kovin hyviä tai niissä on paljon paranneltavaa.. Toivotaan etta NHL 25 olisi hyvä ja realistinen jääkiekko peli myös pelattavuuden kannalta. Jos panostaisivat pelin tekemiseen todella paljon, niin voisi tulla uusia pelaajia ja saataisiin ihmiset kiinnostumaan enemmän virtuaali jääkiekosta.

      Mmh hyvä pointti. Musta olis melkeen paras että olis vaan yks peli, jota päivitetään jatkuvasti. Käytännössähän se menee jo näin, ei ne joka vuosi uutta peliä tee vaan alottaa sen edellisen pohjalta 😅

    I dont think that the Michigan should be made harder i just think golies should be able to defend that i mean the goalies most likely look like monkeys trying to defend the michi

    • @sopulii04
      @sopulii04  Месяц назад +1

      Honestly nah, I don't think that's realistic either. It should be a very rare situation that anyone goes for a michigan in general and if they do, first of all it should be difficult to execute the move properly and get it on net. And the defenders should also be the ones stopping it if anyone, not the goalie.

    I feel like the dekes could really use some support as well. Now granted im a novice but there isn't (or at least i cannot find) an initiative way to learn or implement different dekes. Some youtube videos exist but an in game tutorial would be a nice addition. Maybe they could piggyback that with a skills competition mini game (and just an acknowledgment of an all-star game.... Really not hard EA).
