@@luismarioguerrerosanchez4747Sorry, when I write the word China, I mean the actual country with people living in it, not whatever bullshit maoists believe in.
from what I've heard godard wanted with this movie to give a good image of maoism and attack soviet's communism but it accidentaly did the opposite, the movie is involuntarily humouristic and and the main characters (who were true maoists) appeared like bourgeois with no connexion to reality and the masses because of they were constantly talking about general philosophy and reciting communist theory without any link to reality and the sympathizer of the communist party who is part of the group looked like the only rational characters wich made that the movie was only recommanded by the newspapper of the french communist party and when godard tried to sell this movie to china they (the chineses) laughed at him. really just look at the scene where veronique talks to francis about how much she learned what work is when she went collecting peach and want to blow up universities to start a revolution and francis shows her how stupid and out of reality it is.
it only makes fun of those bourgeois kids who haven't understood Mao, have no idea how to turn theory into praxis in their own country and simply do not really understand what the struggle is because they are detached from reality and the working class. Godard is not stupid and likes to make fun of himself too but this movie is by far not anti-communist nor anti-maoist...
I fully agree, that message is so clear that even, for example, older relatives who have seen the movie understand this and speak of the PCF sympathizer as more responsible and normal and whatnot. It is a really powerful movie in opposition to the childish way French (and Maoist in general) intellectuals act
Godard was a "Maoist". He criticizes in the film, young petty bourgeois people disconnected from the masses who did not know how to put theory into practice, did not have developed praxis. is basically a prediction of Mao-Spontex, which would gain strength a year after the release of the film, with the revolts of May 68. Mao-Spontex was nothing more than anarchism (structurally petty-bourgeois, which through direct action, seeks to liberate the individual), but with a red ink of Chinese anti-revisionism and the great cultural proletarian revolution
The sign is a subtle joke. The shop is called "Sneed's Feed & Seed", where feed and seed both end in the sound "-eed", thus rhyming with the name of the owner, Sneed. The sign says that the shop was "Formerly Chuck's", implying that the two words beginning with "F" and "S" would have ended with "-uck", rhyming with "Chuck". So, when Chuck owned the shop, it would have been called "Chuck's Feeduck and Seeduck".

The irony is so obvious that it's clearly intended. I don't believe Godard was that stupid.
