I've been living in other country for 2 years and everytime I watch this kind of videos I feel like in home... I hope you had enjoyed our food and our culture :)
Haven't been to Peru but all of their produce is organic. So awesome. My Peruvian friend said that the best Chinese food he's eaten was there. Even though some of the items you chose look delicious, you ordered many items that few Chinese families eat on a normal basis but that's cool I like them too. I'm Chinese - Canadian and can tell the fried chicken and pork dishes look good.
Thank you! That is really cool to hear. Yeah, the Chinese food in Peru is rather unique. Apparently they have over 10,000 Chifa restaurants in Lima if you can believe that.
Wow!I watched another vid that shows that there are a lot of Chinese as % of population and they've been there for at least 200 years. They recently found 16 mummified Chinese people with Peruvian bodies and the site was 200 years old. 10,000 Chifa restos is a lot!
'Chifa' doesn’t mean ‘to eat rice’. It comes from Cantonese 饎飯 ci3 faan6, which means ‘to cook rice’. By derivation, it can be used to mean ‘to cook/make a meal’.
You are right. ‘Chifa’ doesn’t mean “to eat rice”. That’s the bad translation from word to word. The real meaning is “let’s eat”. Maybe it could mean something else. But there is a story of it. Back in the years in Lima, when Chinese people immigrated to Peru; they gathered among their own people in a restaurant for Chinese only. So when the cooker called to his folks to eat. (Just like your mom is calling when the food is served for dinner.) “Xi fan! Xi fan!” The locals heard the called. Some of the Peruvian people enter to the restaurant and tried the food. Therefore, he loved the food. So, more and more people tasted it. In conclusion, from the word ‘xi fan’ got shortened into to “chifa”. I know this story, because I’m Peruvian with second generation Chinese ascendant.
@@ralphalayo5849 : The Spanish entry is probably incorrect. Whoever wrote that most likely assumed that that directly derived from the Mandarin pinyin rendering of 吃飯, which does mean ' to eat rice' or 'to eat/have a meal'. However, those early waves of Chinese immigration to Perú came largely from Guangdong province in the South, where Cantonese is spoken; therefore, the reference to Mandarin pinyin to suggest etymology seems highly doubtful, since those exact same characters in Cantonese are read, hek faan.
@@hugotobi This might be more plausible. Chifa could be the Spanish rendering of 食飯, which in Cantonese today is sik faan, but back then, over a hundred years ago, most likely would have been shik faan. In the early 20th century, s and sh merged, as did c and ch, dz and dzh. Here, dzh, ch, and sh would be equivalent to or the same as j, q, and x in Mandarin. @@samuelandaudrey Not bad. This week has been the second week of my spring break from college. We got an extra week of spring break during the previously scheduled one week, probably to provide the university's staff extra time to make plans for their face-to-face classes being moved online, owing to the Coronavirus. Surely you have already noticed, I am not just willing to keep up-to-date with some of your NEW video guides. I also enjoy seeing several of your OLD videos, such as those you posted about your adventures in the British Isles and in Argentina in 2016, the year I graduated from high school. And I must confess, I have had feelings that I missed my senior year of high school. But I didn't even follow your channel until about a year ago, after watching your videos about pierogis and a traditional breakfast in Poland.
holly chifa goddes, you eat a lot of chifa, but the mist important mix is chifa with Inca kola soda but it have to be cold is really good with it, and we have a lot of influence from Europe, Asia, Africa looks tasty and yummy
hmmm... don't know if any other comments have said this already but the chifa in Miraflores is very similar to the Chinese I get in Sydney which has a huge Chinese population. It is not not representative of the Chifa you would get in the non-tourist neighbourhoods which is extremely different to what you got - So different that I really don't like Chifa in Peru (except in Miraflores).

I enjoy so much watching your videos... :-)
Thank you very much!
I would love to have that wontan appetizer, chicken provide good protein. In china, wontan has evlved as well, with new different kind of filling not just pork nowadays, or even vegetable filling for vegetarians.
It was so tasty!
Hummm, it' very delicious!
Thanks! We love Chifa :)
love the last part. That's the prove you really like it and also, show how great and simple you are. I'm glad you like it. Can you give the name of the place?. Take care . Hugs !.
Thank you very much! It is Xin Xing. We also really liked Yi Yi which was a favorite of Audrey's Aunt.
Thank you!. The vid. Kills me. I'm far away from Peru and is hard watching food I can't have right now :(
What flavor of chicken did Audrey get? The spring rolls and the pork and chicken looked delicious!
Thanks Brady! If memory serves us correctly maybe it was ginger. How are things going for you these days?
But I didn't even follow your channel until about a year ago, after watching your videos about pierogis and a traditional breakfast in Poland.
great video guys
Thank you very much!
sr me hace agua la boca tengo hambre.
Watching this makes me hungry, I love Chinese food and this restaurant does not scrimp on ingredients
(Al final) Como vas a servir por la izquierda Sarramplín? Buen video guys!
holly chifa goddes, you eat a lot of chifa, but the mist important mix is chifa with Inca kola soda but it have to be cold is really good with it, and we have a lot of influence from Europe, Asia, Africa looks tasty and yummy
Thank you! We're hoping to eat more Peruvian food soon :)
No hay como la cocina peruana oriental con influencia Cantonesa. La comida peruana oriental, CHIFA, la mejor de Latinoamérica.
I hope you tried kam Lu wantan a really amazing dish .
Thanks for the suggestion!
hmmm... don't know if any other comments have said this already but the chifa in Miraflores is very similar to the Chinese I get in Sydney which has a huge Chinese population. It is not not representative of the Chifa you would get in the non-tourist neighbourhoods which is extremely different to what you got - So different that I really don't like Chifa in Peru (except in Miraflores).
Koreans eat the Korean-Chinese style Chinese food. Joong Hwa Yoree is what they call it. The pork dish in Korean is called Tang-Soo-Yook.
Thanks! We'll be eating that in Korea soon :)
Omg! 😱
I've seen that green and white soup looking stuff! 😂😂
