How to Knit a Corner to Corner (C2C) Garter Stitch Blanket | Rectangle or Square
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 29 июл 2024
- This blanket is my go-to quick knit. With its super simple Corner to Corner method, and only 3 types of stitch used, its a great project to work up when you're in want of a nice mindless knit, and with its buit in edge, and soft garter stitch pattern, the finished product is beautifully modern in its simplicity.
Although this pattern is for a baby blanket, it will also work brilliantly for little washcloths, or dishcloths.

Hello! Thank you so much for these clear video instructions! It cleared up my confusion about the middle part of the rectangle. You may want to check the instructions on your website, for the middle part it says to "Repeat Row 2" when it should be to Repeat Row 1 and Row 2. Thanks again for a great video!
Hi Margaret! Thanks for pointing that out for me! I’ll get it corrected in the morning. I really appreciate it 😀
You have a knit 2 in video but pattern saying knit 3 on row 2 which doesn't make sense.
Àaaaa
Thanks dear
Love this…no irritating background music or noise, no high pitched (voice) trying to be excited about the pattern, just simple get to it knitting tutorial thank you so much this is easy peasy. Very enjoyable your voice is very soothing I could listen to you all day. FYI I’m sound sensitive you are a gem. Thank you so much. I didn’t have to mute and use cc ❤❤❤
Thank you 🥰🥰
I agree.
I agree 100%
You can compliment people without putting others down
Thank you thought I was the only
Have a TON of yarn to do something with! So glad I found this video! Now I can reduce my stash, make blankets for people, use my interchangeable needles and extend the cords, and free myself of the 'hoarding my yarns' guilt!!
Wooo!! Happy Knitting! 🧶😀
Lovely. I just finished a C2C crochet blanket. Now, I’m going to “knit” a C2C blanket too. Thank you 🙏🏼
Did you find a free tutorial for the crochet version??
I'm not a good crocheter, so will definitely need a demo. But would love to try
Love your demonstrations! Very clear easy to follow. You knit very quickly! I'm a continental knitter but am trying to hold my yarn in my left hand as you do to knit faster! Learning new tricks at 84!
Very clear. I am an experienced knitter and still found this taught me something new. Many thanks.
I’ve made plenty of C2C square blankets so your instructions for the middle and end of blanket were very easy to follow. Thank you. Much appreciated.
It’s a pleasure :)
You've just added to my 'need to make' list - as if it wasn't long enough! After crocheting for a while, I've just started a pair of knitted socks, a shawl, and now this! Thanks for ths inspiration.😊
Yay! It’s a pleasure 🥰
This is like making Grandma's dishcloth thanks for the knowledge that you share with us
I’m so happy you enjoyed it. 🤩
I just finished my first blanket using this pattern. I'm so thrilled with it as it's my first big knitting project. Thank you so much for sharing these videos!
This is simply amazing how the edging is created automagically as you go. Thank you for sharing this wonderful project/technique.
It’s an absolute pleasure! 🥰
This is a great project to use up all the leftover yarns I've collected over the years. Thank you for sharing 💗🥰💓
Well explained. Loved your video. Thank you.
Какой замечательный Мастер-класс. Связала внуку плед, собрала при этом одиночные моточки и остаточки ниточек подсобрала. И красивая каемка получилась по ходу вязания. Спасибо Вам огромное за идею.
I've been a crocheter for 10 years now and I've always struggled with knitting. I just learned how to knit over the summer and this sounds manageable and it's absolutely beautiful! Thanks!
Amazing to hear! 🥰
This tutorial is just awesome, I have always wondered how a c to c is done on a knitted blanket and especially a rectangle . You have just shown me how , thank you so much ! Now I will be able to use up all bits of yarn that I have in my stash . Thank you again !
Love the simplicity of this blanket. What fun!
Thank you for sharing, really beautiful yarn, and pattern, easy. Have made washcloths and dishrags with this pattern before, now will make a blanket.
I can’t tell you how pleased I am on this day to have found your channel. I don’t want to bore with my problem’s suffice to say that 4 yrs ago I had a stroke. I am immensely lucky to have come through all of that and I count my blessings every day. BUT…. (there’s always a but) my brain isn’t quite right, in that i find ‘counting’ hard and my speech has been badly affected. I used to be able to knit, pretty much anything especially Aran patterns . I loved them. To cut a long story short, I can knit, I can crochet and I’m thankful but as a beginner. I love garter stitch because it’s easy and I spend my time knitting and crocheting baby blankets and they go to our ‘Baby Basics’. So, thankyou for your clear, concise tutorials and excellent camera work. I’m going to start this corner to corner blanket tomorrow….gets my creative juices flowing again🎉❤. Thanks and hello from beautiful NI, Belfast.
Thank you for the lovely feedback! 🥰 Happy Knitting 🧶
I've made this blanket three times now and I just love this pattern. Thank you!
I’m so happy you like it! It’s such a great easy knit 😀🧶
I still enjoy your videos, and I share them with my various knitting groups. You’re having so much fun too!
What an easy pattern! I struggle with neat edges, especially on cast off rows. Knitting corner to corner is so smart and that border is beautiful. Think I might make a project of this for my niece who is due in about a month. Thank you!
Yay! Happy knitting! 🥳
Thank you. It is very clear, easy to follow directions. I'm halfway finished with my blanket. I love it. ❤️
🥰🥰
Beautiful blanket. Easy knitting for summer. Looking in my stash I have the yarn. Yeeeh. And away I go. Thank you so much for this tutorial I just love it.
It’s a pleasure!
Brilliant idea, thank you for the tutorial and the pattern. I have an elderly Aunt who wants a lap rug and this will be ideal, love it and my colours will be cheerful to, same as yours. Thanks again, take care.
I’m so happy you enjoyed the tutorial! Happy knitting! 😀
Thanks so much for sharing this blanket pattern! It’s my daughter’s favorite! I made her newborns 45 inch square ones. The little toes don’t get caught; and, the blankets were big enough to swaddle them!
Sounds lovely! 🥰
Great, easy tutorial. Love, love the colors of this yarn💜💛💚💙❤..Thanks 4 sharing.
I am still getting used to finding patterns I can follow and by far this has been the best one yet!! Thank you so much for helping me grow in knitting
Thank you so much for this tutorial! Made several baby blankets with this pattern and they've all turned out really well 😊
Hi Laurelin, excellent tutorial. Your blanket is beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Another pattern on my to do list ! Take care 🙂
Thank you for the c2c knit blanket pattern. I absolutely love it.
I’m so happy to hear that! 🥰
Thank you! This pattern is the best. I am using Bernat blanket yarn. It grows quickly and beautifully. I will be using your pattern for many more blankets.
Excellent tutorial. I've never made this blanket because I don't like square blankets. What a treat to learn how to make it in a rectangular shape. I believe this will make a wonderful shawl for church.
🥰

Great stash buster blanket. Thank you!
Im not a knitter but this turned out so beautiful! I really love the rainbow colors and the design of this blanket
Hi Laurelin, Have just discovered your channel and have been enjoying your videos. I am a visual leaner and find the way you give your tutorials very easy to understand thank you for sharing. Just this week (September) I have been blessed with my first great grandchild, and this idea for a blanket is exactly what I needed to keep me busy as we come into the long winter evenings. "Mindless knitting" is perfect as there is no pattern but the actual finished item looks great. Chris from Kent
Hi Christine, congratulations on becoming a great grandmother! Thank you for the lovely feedback, it really does mean so much to me. Happy Knitting! 🥰

I'm almost done with a blanket using your tutorial. Thank you! Nice instructions and I love your voice. And, I've finally used up a whole bunch of chunky yarn that was sent to me by mistake. XO from SW Colorado.
I am going to knit this for our God child and will be sending it from New Zealand to Colorado ❤
I love your tutorial 💕. I wish I could get the hang of knitting in the continental style.
Thank you. I will definitely try this.
I can't wait to knit this.

Love! Thanks!
You’re welcome! 😀
Thanks!
You’re welcome! 😀
Laurelin thank you so much I've almost finished making your diagonal garter stitch baby blanket which i thoroughly enjoyed. It had holes along the edge. (Which complimented my rookie holes i made here and there by accident). Which was a good place to start I feel ready to try this one with KFB increase.
I also appreciate the way you stick to a standard size for your blankets so it is easy to figure out how much yarn we will need, for a bigger blanket I just have to listen to how much yarn you used and x4 + 1 incase.
Thank you so much 😀🧶
Loved this demo…. Very clear. Thank you 😊
I was interested in the way you cast on and held the yarn while knitting… is there a video showing this method please?
Yes! If you check out my knitting basics play list it’s the long tail cast on and continental knit technique
Just finishing In Fours (with some blunders😅) . But nice first project after some years not knitting. Overall good confidence build. Will try c2c or fisherman's rib next. Many babies joining the family😊 they all need a warm welcome ❤
Blunders happen to us all! Even after many years I still make them myself. Thank you so much for the lovely comment and happy knitting! 🧶
Good! I think two baby blankets would make the front and back to a sweater and then all I've got to do is figure out how to make some sleeves - which I would probably crochet for a lacy effect.... never enough unfinished projects lying about in bags I say! Lol
PS Interesting that you knit continental style, as I have recently learnt to do. It might be worth mentioning this to a traditional U.K. knitting audience used to the « throw » method. I find the continental knit and the Norwegian purl very relaxing.
Hi Linda, I actually have quite a broad audience across the world so I haven’t felt the need to mention it - I can following throwing videos easily so assumed the throwers of the world can still follow mine too and knit the project in their own style :-)
My mum is from Finland and I was taught to knit by her - hence the continental style 😀
Always love your blanket patterns. Thanks so much. I'm knitting a blanket using different shades of blue - navy, light blue, multi blues etc. How should I work out when to change the yarn colours? Thanks Cheryl
Just change yarn when you are ready to introduce a new colour, and make sure you always change colour at the same edge of the blanket.
Thank you so much for such an awesome, detailed video :) First time knitter here, quick question, how do I pick the wool? Any advice?
If you are totally new to knitting you may want to go for a slightly heavier weight yarn and bigger needles as it makes it a little easier to work your stitches, the band of the yarn should give you a guide as to what size needles you're likely to need :-)
Nice beautiful
Thank you!
Thank you for the tutorial! I have one question: can I K more than 2 before Kfb to make the border looking part thicker?
Yes you can do :) You’ll also need to knit one before before your k2tog
A new baby (grand niece) expected in September for our family. My goal: have 3 blankets (all different, all your patterns) by the time baby is born. Thank you for these very easy to follow, unique blankets!💕
Wow your needles will be busy! Which 3 do you think you'll pick?
@@SnufflebeanYarn Almost finished with C2C garter stitch. I like the “by fours” (I think that’s the name). Still deciding on the third one!
I’ve just finished knitting one that should be next weeks video and it’s my favourite one yet!
@@SnufflebeanYarn yay! I’ll be looking forward to it!
Thank's
I haven’t knitted for years, was once prolific. I learned to crochet just before Covid which was great as it was amazing being able to improve my skills particularly during that first year. I’ve just seen your blanket which looks gorgeous so I thought I would give it a go. I was very surprised watching your technique, totally different to how I used to knit. I have heard people talk about the continental style which I think is said to be quicker and more efficient. Is that what you are doing? Love the blanket. I remember my son and wife had a shop bought one very similar for their first born and it was very pricey!
Hello! Yes it’s continental knitting, my mum is from Finland and it’s her that taught me to knit so it was just me picking up the style she knits in. I would definitely agree though that continental style is much much easier for a crocheter to pick up when coming to the craft.
(As a side note - I’m the opposite to you, I was a prolific crocheter and decided to learn to knit when my grandmother died as I wanted to knit socks like she did)
Could I knit a shoulder shawl by carrying on till the triangle is big enough then casting off? I love the way the border is done,so neat. Thankyou for that.
Yes! You definitely could do that 😀
Thankyou so much💛
I've crocheted a CtoC blanket before, it came out nice, but I wasn't thrilled with it. Now the knitted version I DO like. Thank you so much! Going to give it a go, but with a twist, going to try and make a shawl out of it, Do you think that will work out with your technique?
You could definitely bind off when it’s a triangular shape but I can’t pretend to have tried it myself 🥰
