One more comment: I have watched several excellent teachers showing how to graft the ends of the applied I cord but no one has explained it as well as you have. Thanks again for your excellent teaching.
I had opened about 6 different videos for tutorials on this assuming I'd have to watch a few different ones before it made sense to me but I happened to watch yours first, and closed all the others because you made everything crystal clear. You're an amazing teacher, and thank you for this perfect video.
Thank you so much for your clear instructions , mastered icord today after watching your great video . I used to have a knitting Nancy when I was a girl and it always fascinated me, now I have put this lovely stich to good use.
Excellent tutorial! I’ve watched several different tutorials about applied I-cord, but this is the best of them. Just the perfect amount of information, the visual information is clear and useful, the pace is just right for me to grasp the information, no unnecessary jibber-jabber. Thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial!
thank you so much for this video! it's great that you use a contrasting coloured yarn to see exactly what you're doing and it's also really helpful that you explain the corners and connecting the beginning and end!
I've just found your channel looking for information on knitting a mitred square which led me to this video. WOW! Love your clear explanations. Thank you from Perth, Western Australia.
Thank you! I can’t believe I did it! I just added this icord edge to a giant granny rectangle. This is my new go-to border for all my projects; it’s fun and more manly than frilly. ❤
Also, I know you said 3 in the corners; but 4 in the corners made them not as stiff for me on a crocheted sunburst granny square blanket. Thanks again for showing me how to do this!!
I’ve been struggling to learn this and I’ve finally gotten it ! Thank you for the detailed information and the close up so see where to put the needle .
I'm working on a mitered square baby blanket based on your tutorial showing how to join as you go and this will be the perfect way to finish it off. Your teaching is excellent and I love listening to you. Thanks.
Thank you for posting, this method blew my mind and it will be the best edging for my knitted Temperature blanket because at the moment the edges are a mess !
Excellent tutorial! This is exactly what I was looking for. Very clear and easy to follow instructions. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and your skills with us. GOD BLESS.
What an easy to understand explanation! Thank you, teacher😍 May I ask a question? How can I make an i-code edge with a gentle curve (increasing or decreasing a stitch by ±1 stitch) like a V-neck? Should I apply the "repeat the same stitch 3 times" method? Or should I continue knitting without increasing stitches?
Muchas gracias por este tutorial tan claro de comprender, en especial en la unión del inicio y final del icord, precisamente esa sección es la que no había encontrado en los distintos tutoriales que vi
After 65 years of knitting I had not even heard or a corded edge now thanks to you I can do it , so simple One question , Having made a blanket fom mitred squares would I use same size needles for corded edge that squares were knitted on Really loving the effect on a sample one but not sure that it is quite right
Hi, thank you so much for this beautiful video. It’s very detailed and easy to understand But one query I have is what to do if we do not want to attach the cord in round I do not want to attach it. I want to make the edge around the cardigan neck.❤ Will appreciate your reply, thank you🤗♥️
Thank you for such a great tutorial! I’m working on a mitered square scrap yarn blanket and want to add an I cord. Question: how would you handle the stitches in the “valley” between the two squares?
Hi this is a great video! I’m knitting a triangle head scarf and it’s curling so I was thinking of doing this technique. My question to you is…..could I continue the I-cord and use as the tie strings? The other one I knitted I just adding I-cords to each end for the ties but still had the curling.
I love this tutorial. Only question is I want to do two rows each of two colors. So two rows of i-cord in Grey and two rows in yellow...Is that possible and how would I do that?
This is an excellent video. Thanknyou for posting. I do have a question. Will you always end a repetition on the corner? Is it possible to fall short of the corner or be mid process and overshoot the corner?
You should always be able to manage your stitches so that you hit a corner correctly (I think that’s what you’re asking but please correct me if I’m misunderstood ☺️)
I learned so much from watching your video, you are a step up from others and your explanation is awesome, you even taught me how to finish off the icord, so beautiful and seamless. You are an awesome teacher❤🩹
Question: Will the dpns be the same size as the needles used to knit? If I make a garter stitch blanket using size 6 circular, will I use 6 or 5 dpns for the applied icord?
Thank you for this clear tutorial, def will need to practice the finishing off part with yarn needle. It would have been super helpful as well if this was shown in a U.K. knitting way as well as the continental. As a new knitter it can be confusing. ❤
hi! so a question what were to happen if you run out of yarn mid applied cord? or alternatively if you want to do alternating colours without an alternating coloured yarn? THANKS !

Really loving the effect on a sample one but not sure that it is quite right
I used the same size needles but there’s no harm in sizing down slightly if you find your tension is different
wonderful lesson!
Excellent tutorial. Thank you!
You're very welcome! 🧶😀
😊thank you so much for this tutorial. It’s the best one I could find!
You are so welcome! 😀🧶
Wonderful instructions thank you ❤
Hi, thank you so much for this beautiful video. It’s very detailed and easy to understand
But one query I have is what to do if we do not want to attach the cord in round I do not want to attach it. I want to make the edge around the cardigan neck.❤
Will appreciate your reply, thank you🤗♥️
You would just cast off your stitches and then sew in neatly
THat looks great ,I love it ,I have never seen it done before very interesting
Glad you liked it! Happy knitting! 🥰
Muchas gracias por explicar todo, incluso el cierre. Por fin podré hacerlo perfectamente. Dios te bendiga.
Hoy aprendí algo nuevo con usted, muchas gracias 😘 🙂
THANK you. This is the BEST !!!
Marvellous ❤❤
Thank you for such a great tutorial! I’m working on a mitered square scrap yarn blanket and want to add an I cord. Question: how would you handle the stitches in the “valley” between the two squares?
I’d probably pick a stitch or two up from The Valley - whatever feels natural to keep tension even
Hi this is a great video! I’m knitting a triangle head scarf and it’s curling so I was thinking of doing this technique. My question to you is…..could I continue the I-cord and use as the tie strings? The other one I knitted I just adding I-cords to each end for the ties but still had the curling.
Yes you could! I don’t know if it’ll solve the curling but it’s worth giving it a go.
Very clear, thanks!!
I love this tutorial. Only question is I want to do two rows each of two colors. So two rows of i-cord in Grey and two rows in yellow...Is that possible and how would I do that?
Do you have to use the same size dpns as your needles you knit with? I used 8 but i have 7s in dpns already. Will that work?
This is an excellent video. Thanknyou for posting. I do have a question. Will you always end a repetition on the corner? Is it possible to fall short of the corner or be mid process and overshoot the corner?
You should always be able to manage your stitches so that you hit a corner correctly (I think that’s what you’re asking but please correct me if I’m misunderstood ☺️)
@@SnufflebeanYarn Thank you. Yes that answers my question perfectly.
Thank you very clear video!
When adding the i cord would you want to go up a needle size from the that used on the kitted piece? Might this keep the drape of the whole piece?
I used the same size needle but you could experiment with a bigger needle if you wanted to.
Is the techniques the same if you are working on stocking stitch? You have demonstrated on garter stitch.
Yes pretty much, you just want to pop one stitch into each row of stockinette
Grazie, bellissimo,RSI può utilizzare anche per unire quadrati.
So beautiful😍
Thank you 🥰
I learned so much from watching your video, you are a step up from others and your explanation is awesome, you even taught me how to finish off the icord, so beautiful and seamless. You are an awesome teacher❤🩹
Thank you so much Lynn 😀🧶 Happy Knitting!
Question: Will the dpns be the same size as the needles used to knit? If I make a garter stitch blanket using size 6 circular, will I use 6 or 5 dpns for the applied icord?
I normally use the same size, but if you find your tension is a little off then you can size down if you feel it looks better 🙂
Thank you for this clear tutorial, def will need to practice the finishing off part with yarn needle. It would have been super helpful as well if this was shown in a U.K. knitting way as well as the continental. As a new knitter it can be confusing. ❤
I only know how to knit continental style I’m afraid 🙂
Hii, should I do this before or after blocking the project??
I’ll confess I’m not a person that blocks items but I’m inclined to say before? That way you’ll block out the icord edging too.
Do your yarn and needles need to be the same size as what you used for the main item?
Ideally yes, but you can make it work with a different yarn you’ll just have to adjust how often you pick up stitches
Hi there. Do you suggest the same needle size as your work or a smaller needle?
Same needle size as the work is what I normally do 🙂
If I put this on my Stockinette stiched blanket will it help to keep it from rolling in at the sides?
It should do, you could also try my mitred garter stitch border as that will help even more
@@SnufflebeanYarn perfect I’ll look for that thank you,
Do you use the same size needles as you used on your work?
Yes I do :)
Excellent
Hi, there is no 'SAVE' available. Any chance you could add this feature as I love your video!
When you say ‘save’, what do you mean? You can save my video to you watch later playlist if you want to find it more easily.
@@SnufflebeanYarn I don't know what happened. I could not get the SAVE option to display. All ok now. Thank you for replying 🤪
Thank you ❤
Thank you!❤
do you block the knitting before or after doing the i-cord?
If I need to block the work I’d do it before the icord
hi! so a question what were to happen if you run out of yarn mid applied cord? or alternatively if you want to do alternating colours without an alternating coloured yarn? THANKS !
You would just change yarn like you normally would when knitting an icord and hide the ends when you’re done 🙂
I have found that the time to introduce a new color is on the K2tog thru the back loop.
Do you use the same size needle as the garter for the icord?
Hi, Yes I did 😁
MERCI BEAUCOUP. 😊
Thanks a lot 🙏🤗❤🌷
You’re welcome! 😀🧶
I think finishing off the icord is very similar if not the same as Kitchener stitch.
Thanks!
It’s a pleasure 🥰
Soooooo pretty 🥰
Thank you!!
when I do this and follow your tutorial exactly my colors blend oddly on the right side... can't figure out why! it's just not clean like yours.
Maybe it’s the type of yarn?
Bravissima
I love doing these but mine bunches up.
Perhaps you are picking up your stitches too close together?
@@SnufflebeanYarn yes probably, plus I'm quite a tight knitter 😆
👀📝👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
🙏👍👍👍🌈😘🌈👍👍👍🙏
I love what you're doing but I'm sure your video is back to front.x
What makes you say that?
Great teaching tutorial...you have given me the confidence to try this❤️🧶
always clearly explained. thank you.
Thank you so much!!
Excellent tutorial. Thank you so much.
You're very welcome! 🧶😀
Thanks!
