When their songs are starting out, you think "Oh, wow, this is going to be incredible, I can't wait to see what this builds up to" but, their songs never build up to anything. They just repeat the same lick over and over again at the same, or very near the same intensity. If it wasn't for that, I'd be all about these guys.

I am 67, an old Texas hippie-cowboy and I loved GVF from the first time I ever heard them/saw them perform. They make me feel the way I did the first time I heard/saw Led Zep, Hendrix, Cream, etc. I feel the 60's and early 70's was THE most magical time in the history of music. GVF reassures me that The Spirit of The 60's is still alive. This is wonderful music, and I thank you and honor you for creating it. I wish you many, many more years of success and health. If I could, I would turn everyone in the world onto DMT and LSD at least once in their lives, and let them trip among friends listening to Greta Van Fleet, Hendrix, Crosby Stills & Nash, Dylan, Clapton, Blind Faith, Cat Stevens, etc. Bring back the 60's! It would be one of the best things to ever happen for this world....maybe we could have real Peace, at least for a while, again. "War, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing!" We are on the brink of WW3; a nuclear war that may kill 9/10ths of the world's populations. We would lose forms of plants and animals forever. When will we ever learn? PEACE...NOW!

    🔥Lyrics:🔥
    [Instrumental]
    [Verse 1]
Children with their toys of war
Birthright of death with a fiery breath
    Funeral of innocence
Painted up in the red and dressed in lead
    We are
    [Chorus]
    Are we prisoners of renegades?
Well I've done my time, woah
    Behold visions of burning skies
    Alas Babylon
    Woah, woah, woah, woah
    [Verse 2]
    Mothers of barbarians, woah
Were your young so spry when they left to die?
    We are
    [Chorus]
    Are we prisoners or renegades?
Well I've done my time, woah
    Behold visions of burning skies
    Alas Babylon
    Woah, woah, woah, woah

"the greatest rock bands of the modern generation": that's a pretty low bar, dude.
Saying Greta Van Fleet belongs in the late 60's and 70's is the highest compliment to them and imitation is the greatest form of flattery (and Greta Van Fleet are waaaaaay better than mere flatterers)

    • @ashton3404
      @ashton3404 3 года назад

@@scottalanmathews Yeah sure but they aren’t in the 60s or 70s… They’re a modern rock band and they’re one of the best, which isn’t low praise considering bands like The Darkness, Glorious Sons, Rival Sons, Dirty Honey etc exist

@@ashton3404 just clarifying I ain't looking for a fight and I support your offer to fight in defense of Greta Van Fleet; I just think it would have been more powerful to have instead offered to fight anyone who says Greta Van Fleet isn't one of the greatest rock bands EVER .
As far as the other bands you mentioned... (niche-Glam) (post-emo pop-rock) (bluesy pop-rock with a cool gospel vein) (Faster Pussycat meets Poison) etc... pretty meh and not even comparable in the same dimension as Greta Van Fleet
      I'm on your side though

I thought they were good then but when this album dropped I got emotional and told my son that I’m so happy he gets to experience this like I did with bands in the 70s. I know that these guys are going into the stratosphere because at least 3 generations of fans are all in the comments. GVF is becoming legend.

They are one of the most versatile bands I have heard in my lifetime and I have been around since the 60's. They use just about everything that everybody else uses to create music and just throws it all in your face. Phenomenal!

You can not make music like this by or as imitation. This is talent and musicianship. By the way, a gibson well played sounds like a gibson well played. A fender well played sounds like a fender well played. This guys vocals should be used in all his ability as he is showing here.. ANY FURTHER phony comparison is idiotic and takes zero account for skill, artistry, talent or the idea of one's self consciousness it takes to create music in general. This is not the modern day accepted trash performed on a computer with moans and groans instead of a musical vision. In closing, I hope in your life you were influenced and I hope you leave influence on others.
    Proud of these kids...
    Cheers GVF!
