    Who the hell is this dude. I just found him this week. My current schedule doea not permit me to practice everyday like i normally do. So I decided to just work on things with a club when I get home late at night for 6 days. Low and behold I get to the course today. Hit a bucket and athough alot of shots went left, which for me is good. I got on the courae and just stuck with some key movements. The front nine was horrendous. But lile he said, you're goa hit some bad shots. But then I made the turn and didn't abondon thinking in the pratice swinf and then trying to not think in the swing. 1 under thru 15. Yeah. I think I am sticking with Taylor. I love the way he reiterates basics in every episode. So simplistic yet advanced. Where have u been all my life! Thanks i had fun today and u restored that.

    Johnathan, You are the "King of Swing" Thorough integrated and complete, which your videos are, totally beats the unconnected swing snippets scattered all over RUclips, that barely differentiate between deliberate active movements and resulting passive movements. In understanding the sequence and timing your videos are tops. I would still appreciate, however a timeline of all the individual active efforts showing their relative starts and finishes. Any resulting movements could also be separately aligned too.
    Thanks,
    Schaun

    • @JonathanTaylor63
      @JonathanTaylor63  Год назад +1

      Your wrists, hands and arms have to be active to start the swing and get the club in the air and on plane, as do your legs, hips and shoulders to turn your body. Before the top of the backswing, all of the above have to become passive, using the weight and inertia of the club to lift the arms, complete the turn and with help of gravity start the downswing. As the club starts down there must be an active relaxing of the body encouraging the knees to bend and the turn back to the bodies starting position and beyond. Legs, arms and shoulders become active again when the club reaches P6 accelerating the arms, hands and club through the ball and up around the body. I would say that your arms hands and wrists are also active at this point but there is definitely no conscious guidance. From P 8 everything is passive.

    Jonathan, first of all, I’ve watched a lot your videos and read your pdf. Academically it’s perfect. What I’m missing is a few drills especially around the key part of the move, ie the return to centre, flattening of the swing, turning of the shoulders, etc. I would gladly pay for a lesson showing me how to do this. On my own, I fear I’m still missing something.

    This is another great video, so precisely decribing the crucial parts of the golf swing and also trying to convey the feeling one should have.
    A suggestion for an exercise that I think would be very appreciated by many, including myself:
    I’ve been stuggeling for quite a long time with over-rotating in the backswing, and I see loads of other golfers doing the same. Instead of stopping the backswing at the correct position, I continue to rotate and while doing that, I lift the left shoulder and head so that the shoulders have a more horizontal position and the spine angle is thus more upright. The club shaft has well passed the horizontal position, pointing downwards. No surprise I struggle to find the way back for the club head into the ball! For some strange reason (muscle memory or something), when I try to reduce the backswing, I loose rythm and timing completely and get all types of mishits including shanks. The brain works its way back to the full (ugly and overrotated) swing continuously! I have spent weeks on the range including recording video of myself for instant feedback, but almost no improvement at all. Any exercise for successful reduction of the backswing would be mostly welcome!!

    Hi Jonathan, I am a bit confused on the synchronisation of hip and arm/hand position. In other words, when the hands have descended to the right thigh area, should the hips turn be maxed out and the legs/arms/hands explode through the ball by extending (as demonstrated in the driver swing video) or should there be more conscious hip rotation at that point. Or maybe the extension of the legs automatically produced more hip turn through the ball?

    • @JonathanTaylor63
      @JonathanTaylor63  4 года назад

      In the perfect world Dave, your hips should have completed their turn by the time your hands reach your trail thigh.

    Very good re. the UPPER body . However , i kept waiting for what i consider the MOST important part of the golf swing ; the Legs . I would think that teaching how to get the club properly to the top is enough arm instruction . Then a " How To " on getting the legs involved . So this video should have the word " UPPER " between the words " your " and " golf " in the title . In my opinion this video is 1/2 of the golf swing .
    Jonathan , if you can teach students on how to initiate the downswing "WITH THE LEGS" , you'll be world famous . A novice watching this , is going to think upper body only . That said ; your efforts is this video are greatly appreciated . And that is sincere . The game is difficult and so is the proper wording in teaching the downswing .
    Other than that , there is nothing to this game !

  • @williamreichert4798
    @williamreichert4798 Год назад

    You say you do not lift your left arm but if you look at your swing (and all good golfers) you will see that your upper left arm moves 90 degrees in the backswing ( or more). At address the humerous is perpendicular to the ground and at the end of the backswing it is 90 degrees away from the ground ,
    parallel to the ground.This is definitely a big lifting movement. (You. may not feel this lift but it occurs and rotation of the chest or hips alone will not achieve this position. If you do not lift the left arm, the backswing will be too short and this will affect the position of the club at the end of the backswing. This has consequences for what happens. during the downswing
    Many really good golfers elevate the humerous much more than to 90- degree achieving a move of occasionally approaching almost 180 degrees of lift.Many bad golfers. hardly move the humerous at all by bending the left elbow instead of lifting the humerous.
