One of the first songs my mom taught me to harmonize with! We used to sing in talent shows when I was little bitty, with her playing acoustic guitar.

Exactly!! Thanks so much... I’ve just been noticing if you use the b flat shape ( because it uses all four fretted strings ) it can be translated for other chords by playing that shape higher. Like the alternate C shape which uses for four fretted strings or the D7 for example. Been experimenting with that lately sliding those shapes up and down the neck.
I just have to remember which chords they are. :) thankfully there is something called fret markers!!

Thanks so much! Well, I filmed this a while ago. I batch filmed lots of content and edited ahead of time to prepare for the baby. She arrived in March, and she’s going well 😀. The movable shapes really are the key to unlocking the fretboard, so it’s great that you see that. Have an awesome day!

I really need some advice. I'm just learning to play and I absolutely can't get my fingers to make that "little mini bar cord" that is shown at the 5:07 mark on this song. I can't get the "mini bar" with my first finger. When I try it, all of the strings just sound muted or just plain ugly if any sound comes out at all :( It's a pretty version and I really want to learn it but...my pointer finger is so sore right now from trying to make that configuration that I'm about ready to give up! Katie...anyone...?
First of all, I’m really proud of you for trying this version of this song as a beginner. I would be overwhelmed with this version if I were a beginner. I do have a video on the Bb and some ways to make some small adjustments that might help. I’ll link it below. The principles in the Bb video can be adapted for the shape shown in this video even though I demonstrate the Bb shape on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd frets. Barre chords are usually something that everyone struggles with, so please don’t feel like you’re alone or that you’re the only one 😀. You also might want to try to roll your finger in to its side rather than using the pad of your finger. I’ll link a barre chord video as well below and I hope that helps. I also have a video mentioning the push pull motion so that you’re not just using your left hand to do all of the work for you, Lastly, do you know what kind of strings do you have on your uke? What kind of uke do you have? If the strings far away from the fretboard, it might be making it harder to push down and form a clean chord.

Hi! I love this version of You're my sunshine and I want to play it like you. However my ukulele is smaller than yours so at 10th fred there is almost no space for fingers and when I strum it sounds horrible. Do you have any solution for that? Thank you so much

You singing along with the song would be sooooo much better for 2 reasons: you have an amazing voice and also it will make the play along more clear and make us understand where we are when we are playing a certain note. Please, please, please reply to this.

Can you explain why the arrows on the TAB are pointing UPWARDS while you're instructing to strum DOWN?? Mental block, I guess... Thanks!
That’s a great question. Tablature is read “upside down” so to speak 😀. The arrow pointing towards the top of the page really means strum down. It’s some of those things is just the standard way of writing g and notating music via tablature, and it looks backwards. I hope that helps 😀.

Oh really? I didn't know that, but it's bound to happen that people post different tutorials for the same song. It's pure coincidence I'm sure. I made this arrangement in early January, filmed it and edited the footage in late February. I actually have footage ready to publish for the next 4 months ready to go because that's just how I run my channel. Everything is planned out months in advance :).
