Nobby Stiles 'how I fit in at Man Utd' . . . before dementia stole World Cup winner's memories

After shrugging off the disappointment of missing the 1963 Cup Final through injury, there was no stopping Nobby Stiles. And the kid from Manchester went on to win it all. Champion of England, Europe and the World.
When I filmed this interview with him, I was making a documentary about Paddy Crerand … and Nobby gave me a fascinating insight into how they both fitted in playing for Manchester United.
It's over seven years ago now when I filmed what was one of the last ever interviews with Nobby. He was already starting to struggle with dementia. But he still had that cheeky smile, a glint in his eye and an infectious character that made him both popular - and a fearsome opponent in his playing days.
He was only 5 foot 6. But on the football pitch Nobby was a giant of the game. RIP Nobby Stiles.
