  • Its one of the segments from Vinnie Jones footballs hard men. I have other parts that I'll be uploading in time. I'll put priority to the united players but Im thinking in uploading the bits about Graeme Souness, Billy Bremner, Vinnie jones himself and others. Leave me a comment if you want to see these other fragments

He first silenced Eusebio in the Cup of Nations in 64. He had the psychological advantage over him from that in 66, and then did the hat trick over him in the 68 European Cup

Stiles actually had a lot of skill,
I have searched the internet for footage of a goal he scored. It was a late equaliser at Fulham in the late 60s (final score was 2-2). I was at the game but being a kid, my view was impaired. A lot of games were not televised then so I guess I'll have to leave it to my imagination. Best actually scored while lying on his back - something he did a lot off the pitch too, apparently :)

I think that he compares to Paul Scholes in many ways. He was a brilliant passer, he read the game brilliantly, he was a battler, he was a true midfielder, a play maker, he took anybody on, he was good with both feet, he had great reaction time, he could turn on an atom, he could use his head on the ball and he never stopped until the whistle blew.

There is an uncanny resemblance between Nobby Stiles and Roy Keane in style, ability and modus operandi. They both gave more creative players room to perform by taking most of the load on to their own shoulders, that's why Manchester United won the EC/CL in 1968 and 1999. History do repeat itself.

RIP ❤️ had his critics but every great side has a Nobby in their side - May not be pretty but stopped skilful players by giving them a fright or two 😂 can’t be that bad a player ? Look at track record ? Different game then just look at the pitches they played on ? Some tough tacklers like Ron Harris from my team Chelsea - those days players just got on with it
So sad he had to sell his medals and shirts - RIP ❤️ condolences to family and friends 🙏

This guy is celebrated like an heroe in england but he was just a vile character who was famous to agress players on football pitchs.
I remember the WC 1966, yes the one gifted to england) when stiles deliberately injured 2 french players, forcing the french team to finish at 9 vs 11 english players (no subs in these times)
    Abject.
