Great video, just did the install yesterday after ordering the carb 6 months + ago. Cranked up today but had the same issue with it cutting off without the choke which lead me here. I wasn't sure about how to adjust but thanks for showing that and I'll try tomorrow. I may need to take yhegas tank off too. The gauge hasn't worked in years.
Great video, thanks for the review! I"ve got the exact same ATV, year and model with the exact same issues. I just cleaned the old carb and its still not running like I'd like. Ordering the Tang carb today!
@@bhasley5224 cool. I had just let this Kodiak sit 5 months and cranked on the first shot last night, It sat 5 months with ethanol free gas in the tank though. I’m only going to run that from here on out
Your welcome . I hope people find it helpful. It baffles me some manufacturers don’t have detailed videos of what’s included with the products they are selling.
@@georgiabigfootput a fuel filter on every machine you have😊 never run anything without a fuel filter😊 it will save mountains of time money and work😊 all you got to do is look in the bottom of a gas can and see the debris that builds up😅 you don't know how it gets there! but it gets there!! and it ends up in your vehicles feul system, no matter what it is.
Sweet I have a big bear 400 and doing the exact same thing so this is encouraging. Still running good hope..?? Thanks for the video.. bless Oh mine has a couple jet screws but i seems like everything's installed so it should be a turn key carb..?? Just install and maybe adjust the mixture slightly as you done..?? Thanks
@georgiabigfoot Curious question, wondering if you could help me out, I’m working on a friends bike and he got a new carburetor matches the same as yours. The old one he took off did not have a diaphragm at the top of the carburetor his new carburetor like I say much like yours has that large port on the diaphragm at the top are you able to tell me where that hose goes to?
@@maddmaxx525 sorry no idea . I’ll just yanked the old one out and put the tang in, 5 months later still runs like a dream, he should have bought the same one I did
How could the carburetor be shot on a 2004 Kodiak! when I'm still driving my 1995 400 Kodiak i bought brand new in 1995,and still using the original carburetor! unreal.. but I'm going to rebuild it or replace it. thanks for the video, because it needs some serious gaskets and screws are missing etcetera it's time.
Question people? I've been told by a motorcycle shop that the original carburetors are better that cheap replacement carburetors only work good for a little while and then you got trouble? This is what I was told by an old motorcycle mechanic a couple of years ago? What do you think from experience?
Well I guess you didn’t listen to this video I made about the tang carb. I bought this 400 from a moron and he had abused it, ran ethanol gas in it for years, had removed the manual idle control cable and throttle linkage cover. That’s why it had failed: because an idiot had boogered it up. I bought this quad in 2022 for $700 so I wasn’t going to pay $500 for a Yamaha carb from A Yamaha dealer when I could buy this tang carb for $48. So good for you that you have cared for your ‘95, I guess you have missed my other vids of my 1986 yfm225 and 1987 yfm350er both still running with original carbs, only difference is I’ve had them since new. PS the tang carb is now 5 months old and works like a champ, very pleased so far. If I was rich I guess I would buy the OEM part.
Thank you for skipping the most important step I needed, which is connecting all the hoses back up Please don’t assume that people watching this know all the steps are ready I was watching this so I could see how the hoses got set back up and you skipped right over over it
@@aaronbrown4259 your welcome, thanks for watching, installing is reverse of the removal, piece of cake, first time I had ever done this. Still working like a champ too.

Seems like its running good that's a good deal.
Hey Luke! Still working great. I’ve switched to ethanol free gas for this carb, cleaned the tank, and hopefully the fuel filter will help too.
