Can the head rail be mounted directly into the studs does it have to have a board behind it?

I just purchased this door I love the fact that it's not a heavy door like my original closet door I don't want any extra stress on the studs it's basically just for show

Looking a barn door hardware kits on Amazon, there are a lot that do not have a solid bar. Instead they have puzzle pieces to put together and the descriptions do not always make it clear what you are getting.

It's a standard 80" door

My only issue was the acorn nuts on the door. Either the bolts seem too long, door not thick enough, or acorn bolts not drill thoroughly.

I did not have that issue, you could cut part of the bolt off with a hacksaw
