Of all the many, many bootstrap paradoxes in the show, Charlotte and Elisabeth being each other's mothers might be the most in-your-face, but the convoluted way in which Katharina is named after herself might be the weirdest.
a fun fact that gets lost in translation: The Unknown tells Tronte, that he has no name - in German: "ich habe keinen Namen". "Keinen" (= no) sounds a bit like "Kain" (Cain), the biblical son of Adam and Eve
Katharina’s mom wasn’t pregnant with her at the abortion clinic here, but the guilt of the abortion weighed on her to where she was cold and abusive to Katharina.

@@ChannelNamePending699 this reminds me: another theory from the olden days before season 3 involved the Waardenburg syndrome; it is a group of genetic conditions that are linked to one another; symptoms include hearing loss (Elisabeth), heterochromia (Claudia), a white forelock (Jana) and rarely a cleft lip (the Unknown); it is kinda odd that both Claudia and Jana might have the genetic markers; it suggests that they are even somewhat related apart from the looping family tree; then again, this is a small rural town; the one where I kinda grew up was dominated by two families which of course were also related to one another

This is most likely Agnes coming home to Doris. The second cesium event would be one of the Erit Lux members closing the passage down like the Stranger did in S1. And the third cesium event would be an Erit Lux member opening the passage in 2019, to relocate its centre in time so that it connects 52 instead of 53. - The bunker in Eva's world in 2052, the female Stranger uses as her base is full of information! I can't write every little detail here but a broad overview (however I did a reddit post which goes in great detail of every information): We get to know when Ulrich dies; a good argument for alt-Tannhaus being the creator of the golden sphere; tons of information about alt-characters, like who survives the apocalypse (and how) and who are Erit Lux members who aren't shown on screen; information that confirms that the passage doesn't collaps in Eva's world during the apocalypse (this is most likely why there wasn't any bright light like how Katharina experienced in Adam's world) and Clausen's full name.
- Good to know at least one of the couples here gets a happy ending... at least until they're wiped from existence. Wonder what episode that scene would've been in and when. - Oh I remembered him speaking, but as that remains his only line in the series it barely counts lol - Rest in peace to Hans Diehl! i think no one said but ""Adam gives the newspaper to future agnes to give to old claudia that then gives it to past agnes that then gives it to hanno.
She does not give it to Hanno, she only shows it to him and them tucks it back in her dress. We see her at the end of the episode (S2E3) looking at the article, at the same time Claudia is killed. So if the Agnes in 2053 in this episode is Agnes *after* S2E3, she should still have the article, not Adam. Hence my confusion.
I guess but it's still weird because based on what we know, if she already has it when Adam gives it to her, then she now has two clippings of the same article. Honestly of all the characters Agnes is probably the one I've had the most difficulty with in pinning down her chronology, and it's because of that damn newspaper.
The show is called Dark and pretty much everything that has happened thus far is pretty bleak. I don't know why you would assume there will be a happy ending. 48:14
I mean this Martha and Jonas aren't related so that's probably not why the Triplets have the scar lol I reckon it's just the same thing that happened with Helge. He was just groomed and manipulated from an early age to do one thing. I wouldn't put it past Eva to give him that scar to keep him in line.
They may not be conventionally related, but since both Marthas in both worlds have the same genes, she is still genetically his aunt, even if Jonas was never born in her world.
I don't agree with your opinion of Hannah here. She might be an asshole, did some fucked up shit, but men in her life used her, apart from Mikkel who killed himself. Of course she might be the most reprehensible character in the show but Egon basically called her a whore just there.
I agree that what Egon said was tactless, but can you elaborate on your claim that the men in her life used her? Ulrich and Hannah's affair was a two way street, with both parties willing to cheat on their partners. Hannah already had a lifelong obsession with him, and even accused him of rape to try and break him Katharina up. With Egon, she became his lover once again knowing full well he was a married man (or at least learned he was later on and still kept seeing him). She sees herself as a victim but imo she has zero right to take the high ground here.
You are saying this as if Hannah had no agency of her own - which is far from the truth here. She has made every decision that led her to where she is. I don't think she took any accountability here other than in the confrontation with adult Jonas, and even then she went right back to her ways of scheming and ruining people's lives. It's easy to blame men in the show, but it's safe to say that she's done the most vile things in the series and none of her actions are product of circumstances, in other words, she made those choices on her own accord. To say that she used men her whole life is more like it - she settled for Mikkel even though she's obsessed with Ulrich for years; she used Ulrich for her own carnal possessive desires regardless what situation he was in when Mikkel went missing; she blackmailed Aleksander to destroy Ulrich after not being able to have him; she took advantage of her own son and took his time machine without asking after learning where Ulrich is; she traveled to 1953 to taunt Ulrich in his face; she then willingly had an affair with a married Egon. No one forced her into doing so and to justify her actions with the reason that "men used her" is just bs imo.
im not sure the kid between original Jonas and alt world martha would be incestuous.. I believe middle aged martha sorta gives Jonas a hint by saying "in this world, you and martha are not impossible" while essentially almost any connection in this show would be incestuous, my point is just that world alpha jonas and world beta martha are not related because jonas doesnt get born in this world
It would still be incestuous. Genetically, the pairs of the "same" characters present in both worlds are identical, with the only differences being hairstyles and fashion and such as a result of the differing circumstances and course of events within the respective worlds. Jonas and Martha (of his own world) are "impossible" because she is destined to die young. Alt-Martha, however, obviously survives to become her elderly self, Eva.
34:20 There's one thing you don't seem to have understood at this point. Martha (Earth 2) is not the aunt of Jonas (Earth 1). She is not impossible... (Which has been said several times!) as they are not related! Jonas never existed in Earth 2 and Martha from Earth 1 is dead! She is possible! So they can also have a relationship and can have a child! The only thing that connects both worlds (related) is the ‘unknown’. And think of the mark of Cain!
Both Marthas in both worlds have identical genes, so she is still genetically his aunt, even if Jonas was never born in her world. And we made the Mark of Cain connection in the S3E3 video at 44:12
Man, it's sad there's only a few reactions left. You two are good lads. I wanted to say, regarding Helge's mum. I think the fall of Berlin to the red army made her this way. I've no idea if she was a nazi, but I do know that she was raped by a russian soldier named Anatoly and that is how Helge came to be. I wonder if she was always cold or if experiencing what she did turned her that way. She's clearly depressed and struggles to feel emotion.
The timing doesn't work. In 2019 Charlotte mentioned that Helge is 75 years old. Thus he was born in 1944 at the latest, procreated 9 months earlier. No way that the Soviet mass rapes at the end of WW2 matter in respect of Helge.
Anatol Veliev, there are no facts that he is Russian. Veliev is a Turkic surname, often found in Azerbaijan. And Anatol is an ancient Greek name, found in Germany and Poland. Helge was born in 1944, but the USSR army entered Germany only in early 1945.
@@Valentin_I Anatol is an almost unknown name for native Germans. The Soviet Union included peoples which weren't Slavic, like Turkish ones. Agreed that, Helge was born in 1943/44.
@@waltergro9102 I refer to the Wiktionary article on the etymology of the name "Anatol". The Russian Wikipedia says about the surname "Veliev". For example, the first three on the list: Ablâziz Veliyev, Ağalar İsrəfil oğlu Vəliyev, Adil Məstan oğlu Vəliyev. Anyway, not at all sure it was a Russian soldier of the Soviet army.
Yeah, I would have preferred seeing your reaction to the reveals live and you not theorizing and being right. That takes the fun out of the reaction. Impressive but not as fun. Still love the reactions tho.
Do you pause a movie when you watch it in a cinema? A cinema is the purest way to watch a movie. TV shows are no different. At least on your first watch you shouldn't be pausing it and replaying it over and over. You sat down to watch it with the rhythm and pacing it has and exactly as much time per shot as it gave you. You're not the director. I don't get why people disagree with this. Yes fine rewatch it later however you want. But let the first time be as the creator made it. Not as you made it. Obviously you're free to do it as you want, but I just STRONGLY disagree with people who encourage viewers to pause and replay.
dude it's not that deep. this is dark, the creators know their audience, they *know* people are going to pause to read things. if they really didn't want people to be "spoiled," they wouldn't have had multiple shots that show the entire tree for several seconds, like the final shot of ep 5. hell there's literal close ups of it that show bartosz, silja, agnes and hanno's names all together (in ep 2). it's like they're trying to make you see it. bc it's not a spoiler. at least they didn't pause *during* the episode itself and instead waited until after it was over.
@LucilleAlola No. Yes the show is made for different types of viewers, it's there for people who like doing that. But we're talking about the best way to experience it. what's even the point of having an entire sequence of scenes later that give the exact same information? I think it's clear that the most emotionally interesting and tense way to watch it is to leave the reveal until later. The whole point of that episode is to fill in the details and to show how the full loop works. why is it more interesting to see it in a random episode that isn't about that theme?
@pseudonymousbeing987I'm sorry but the best way to experience Dark is a matter of opinion, not fact. Your best way to experience it won't the same as someone else's. I think it's different for shows like Dark. The show is like a puzzle box, it's made to be taken apart and deciphered. Or at least, that's my personal "best way" to experience Dark. I get what you're saying about watching cinema but I don't think strict rules should restrict people from enjoying things they way they want to. I can at least say this: after watching the final episodes, we never once regretted our decision to look at the tree, nor did we feel that it ruined our viewing experience in any way. Actually I'm kind of glad we did, as it helped certain things make more sense in the moment (for example what Alt-Egon was doing at the end of episode 6, which would've left us very confused otherwise). To this you might say, "you can't know how you would've felt if you hadn't known the reveal before watching episode 7." I've thought about this too and I can tell you right now, I almost certainly would've still preferred to have looked at the tree first. If you haven't noticed by now... we *like* knowing things ahead of time lol. That's *our* best way to experience Dark (not that we don't also enjoy being shocked by twists). I agree with what the above commenter said - if the most "emotionally interesting and tense" way to experience the reveal is to leave it until later, then the creators wouldn't have shown it 5 episodes earlier. Otherwise they would've had the family tree be partially hidden or shown from certain angles, but no, one of the FIRST shots of it is a close-up on Bartosz and Silja's names connected to Hanno and Agnes. That is intentional. I understand how some people might have felt disappointed finding out the way we did, but at least for my part episode 7/8 still blew us away even if we knew the reveal "ahead of time." Because for me, episode 7 was less about the reveals and more about showing the final missing pieces of these characters' journeys and highlighting the inevitability of it all.
@ChannelNamePending699 fair dos. I acknowledge it's up to personal preference. Jante Friese often talks about how she wrote it so that all different types of viewers would get satisfaction.
@ChannelNamePending699 u hate her because she was r aped? I'm trying to remember if u ever called that cheating bastard ulrich or any other male character any name?? I guess it's just saved for women.....
@@Rash23215So now you're just making assumptions when I've never said any such thing. I don't like her because of the cold and callous way she treats her own son. The idea that she was raped is an assumption made by many viewers, when this has never been explicitly confirmed. In fact there's more historical evidence to suggest that Helge's birth was more likely the unintended consequence of a love affair, and that her treatment of him stems from her religious attitude and personal shame at what she saw as a grave sin on her part. For example, the date of Helge's conception/birth does not line up with when the mass rapes of Berlin took place. The statement "not a child of love" doesn't confirm it either as that can mean several things. There's another thread in this comment section that goes into more detail. And if you've watched our season 1 reactions you'll know that we have called out characters such as Ulrich, Peter, and Hannah for cheating, multiple times.
I am both happy and sad to announce that we have finished Dark!

Honestly of all the characters Agnes is probably the one I've had the most difficulty with in pinning down her chronology, and it's because of that damn newspaper.
@@ChannelNamePending699 Its sad how she (i think) has the most cut scenes.
💚
All will be revealed :)
The show is called Dark and pretty much everything that has happened thus far is pretty bleak. I don't know why you would assume there will be a happy ending. 48:14
Not assuming, just coping
Btw if doris is a lesbian and not bi, agnes is her first "love" , and we know how that goes.
Doris has Claudia, who has Regina, who has Bartosz, who has Agnes, who has an affair with Doris…her great-great grandmother 🤯
The kid spoke to Bernd
Yes I remembered but since that remains his only line in the series it barely counts lol
im not sure the kid between original Jonas and alt world martha would be incestuous.. I believe middle aged martha sorta gives Jonas a hint by saying "in this world, you and martha are not impossible"
while essentially almost any connection in this show would be incestuous, my point is just that world alpha jonas and world beta martha are not related because jonas doesnt get born in this world
It would still be incestuous.
Even if Jonas was not born in Martha's world, he is still one of Martha/Eva's great-great-grandfathers.😄
And we made the Mark of Cain connection in the S3E3 video at 44:12
Hanna is about 48 years old, so at her age pregnancy might by a risk.
@@waltergro9102 maybe it was a spy or a Crimean Tatar captured by Nazi Germany.
Yeah, I would have preferred seeing your reaction to the reveals live and you not theorizing and being right. That takes the fun out of the reaction. Impressive but not as fun. Still love the reactions tho.
The writers added the family tree knowing people would look at it. If anything, that *was* the reveal, not what we were shown later on.
@LucilleAlola
No.
@ChannelNamePending699
fair dos. I acknowledge it's up to personal preference. Jante Friese often talks about how she wrote it so that all different types of viewers would get satisfaction.

I just don't understand..... can't guy's just call women "women" anymore??
It has nothing to do with her being a woman lol, every time we see her I've made it clear I do not like her
@ChannelNamePending699 u hate her because she was r aped?
