If I had to pick which player I enjoyed watching the most, I could not decide. Tony and Effren's games are so different, but each the master of his style. Tony, fast and machine like, Effren, like the old bull, so and steady. lol Thanks for the video, super show.
Efren Reyes is such a good sport! Has anybody ever noticed that he pulls the balls out of the pockets after the rack like you would in a normal game. A lot of the pros don't do that.
This is the first time I ever see Tony playing and I have to say that I like his style. The man has class and acts like a professional player that he is. Even though the game did not go his way he kept his cool and even said something funny to Reyes at the end. When Tony was at the table he was very quick on choosing and taking his shots, that's pretty good. This video is a good sample on showing that the balls roll funny for anyone. Tony was ready to play but he really did not got a chance to.
MrElPoderozo1 drago and Strickland had a fight before i tell yah drago likes what he likes and he really likes efren he said it feels like playing with an old friend 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Yeah Tony is super quick, but he's not just hitting randomly as quick as possible, with all that speed he still has a gameplan and like the rack he did win he keeps in control
+EvelcyclopS different cloth than a snooker cloth, different table, different balls, different cue its really hard to change from snooker to pool or the other way around
He was never one of the elite players like Williams, Trump, O’Sullivan, etc. but he was great and always exciting to watch because of his rapid pace which is rare in snooker.
Efren is so much fun to watch when he's "on". So basically it's fun to watch him almost all the time. I've noticed that not only does he make balls at a prodigious rate he also plays many of his shots 2 ways so that if he misses a tough shot either snookers his opponent or leaves him as tough as possible. Usually a bank shot. One thing about these tables. They have huge pockets which makes the players look much better than they actually are. I much prefer to see the pro's play on tables with tight pockets.
If snooker was so harder than pool(according to many), any top 20 snooker guy could go in pool and become #1. Why do nobody do that ? Tony Drago has been top 10 in snooker, with all my respect for the guy(I'm a big fan of him), has he become a pool top 10 ? I don't remember. There are some unuseful debates around snooker and pool. I have played both, I enjoy both, I am even Ronnie O'Sullivan fan than I'm Efren Reyes fan and you know what ? Those are different games, with different tables, different balls, different sticks, different games, different strategies, different everything. People are talking about potting balls harder in snooker, let me say, I played for more than 25 years(I played many times pool with snooker players also) and any pool players or snooker players will agree with me, at some level, potting a ball is not the goal, you don't even think about it, the challenge is the cue ball. In snooker, sure potting ball is harder but in pool you have the same amount of balls(bigger ones) in a smaller table, obstacles are everywhere, the cue ball is a real challenge, so you must play a lot with side effect that will involve different calculations and also deflection. Without forget than going 1 inch too far in pool with the cue ball can be a lot more catastrophic than in snooker. Conclusion, both are nice games within you can increase knowledge years after years and when you become a top 10 player in any of snooker or pool, you have a skill and knowledge than non of the other game top 10 can reach quickly. You can learn all your life in anything.
The assumption that Reyes could not have learned to play snooker and been a great player in that game as well is just biased idiocy. I have played both pool and snooker for years, I know what is inolved in both games, and I have seen Efren play live many times. He has a phenomenol feel for cue sports. Anyone who can't see that and feels a need to disrespect or belittle him is simply a podex. And in addition to that, the fact that Efren is a slant-eyed brownish little man from the dark shadows of primitive Asia probably has a lot to do with what really is driving this disrespect. I say that as a light-skinned man with red hair. I have a deep love for all cue games and I'm pretty good at a few of them. I know greatness in this realm when I see it and Efren has it. You wanna-be critics aren't fit to do his laundry, as a cue sportsman or as a human being.
id have to see how he plays on a british pool table at least before i could comment on how hed be with potting in snooker with the distance and tight pockets because he probably played 95% at least of his games on american tables with the angled pockets which make it easier up the rail but the area where i think he would be a great snooker player is in the tactical side of the game laying snookers and having creative shots as if you watch any of his pool games you know why hes called the magician because hes got a bag of tricks like no other.
Rogue Pilkington at 18 he quit playing pool because he was too dominant. He switched to 3 cushion billiards for 5 years until he again got too dominant and then switched back to pool. No doubt he would have been one of the greats if he took up snooker right before his prime.
K. Arlan Ebel i dont think you mature enough, efren is nothing compare to ko pin yi from Taiwan, the best pool player that ever been born in the world. Efren never win againt ko, efren always shaking fear ly facing king ko pin yi. Remember that you idiot!!
1:34 I’m thinking: “Is he gonna break with his extended cue? 5:50 Announcers have conversation about Efren’s height, and 61’ cue length 6:43 Cue talk continues. Efren requires the house rake to finish the rack. Priceless.
Why this fucking comments always comparing two players with two different rules of playing, unless they'll match play all type of pool game, 8ball 9ball 10ball one pocket and snooker, on their prime age so no excuses
Tony could of been such a better player if he'd just take his damn time, one or two extra warm up strokes, not getting down on the shot when the ball hasn't completely stopped rolling.. Like come on man, chill
Tony is rarely this nice to an opponent. This shows his respect for Efren. Tony is usually fearless, but he didn't seem so confident in this match. A race to 5 is too short though.
A question. Isnt it Foul if the in coming playing player touches the table while the balls are still in motion from a shot missed by the opposing player? Maybe the rules are different in 9ball.
efren beat sullivan and jimmy white in a short race snooker money game using only his pool cue..daryl peach confirmed this.efren is the greatest all around player in cue sports history.
I just wonder if theres a snooker hall in the Philippines, maybe efren also dominated that game! But unfortunately theres only pool table i guess snooker table cost alot of $
Even at 49 Efren was still breaking with good power. At about the 14:00 mark he breaks and pockets five balls. His ability to hit the rack squarely almost every time is uncanny. The caption reads "Tony Drago vs Efren Reyes - Magician in Tornado". How unobservant does a person have to be when creating a caption like this. (Magician IN Tornado) heh, even the names are out of order. If I didn't already know their pool nicknames I would have to believe Tony was the Magician and Efren the Tornado. At least the names are spelled correctly which isn't always the case. Cheers
@@chriskozub8012 It's hard to say who is the best at any given time, because there have been so many great players through the years. Plus, the game and equipment are always changing. Many people today don't even know who he was, but he was a household name In his day, and for good reason..... the man could play!
I am just guessing here but assume that it is to limit the risk of static electricity shocks between the player's shoes and the carpet. Kidlat Ngayon Effren Reyes has never beaten Ronnie o Sullivan at snooker, it's a myth. Last person I heard say that said it was in 1988 which would have meant Ronnie was 12! It never happened. If it had of done, even then Ronnie would have annihilated him. Effren's a phenomenal pool player but he wouldn't stand a hope in hell of beating any top 32 player over a best of 9 snooker match. I would love to see Effren play Ronnie at snooker it would be an absolute bloodbath!! I would lay you 10-1 that Effren wouldn't take a frame in a best of 9. In a best of 9 pool game though,Ronnie(despite being an underdog) is capable of winning! I.love both games and both are great players in their sports but to be honest Ronnies skill level is way,way higher than Effrens. Clearing a snooker table is incomparably more difficult than clearing the table in 9 ball. Look at the rack in this match where effren pocketed 5 balls from.the break. I know there is technique in breaking, but really it's about hitting them as hard as possible and hoping something goes in, it's hardly finesse! I can pot off the break fairly regular in.9 ball, almost anyone can. I can also clear the table fairly regularly, while my highest break in snooker is 52. You don't need to be a genius to work out snooker is a much harder game! Effren Reyes is impressive mainly because of his consistency, Ronnie is impressive because of his phenomenal skill. Comparing Reyes to O'Sullivan is like comparing a TR7 with a Ferrari!
That's ridiculous. Any top level snooker player has as little chance of beating Reyes at pool, as he has at beating them at snooker. Their chances being absolutely zero respectively.
Efren Reyes said himself that in 1991, he played and beat Ronnie in snooker. Granted, Ronnie was only 16 at the time and he gave Reyes some extra points to start with, but they have played before. I don't know if they have since then.
This version of pool is far too easy which makes the luck element that much more. They seriously need to make the table bigger with tighter pockets. it's a joke

Efren is very superstitious person according to an interview...he might see this balls as badluck...

13:24 ... 5 balls on the break, nice.
9:25 Efren makes an amazing shot developing 7-ball with a 9-ball!
I don't think he meant to flick the 7 out he just couldn't avoid the 9 and it came out well

was tony a good snooker player?

Efren Reyes consistently makes the one ball on the break.

Possibly the best player of pool, but the easier of the baize games.. Why do we have commentators for pool, just be quiet and let us watch in peace.
