9-Ball - EFREN REYES vs EARL STRICKLAND - 2001 Masters 9-Ball Championship Finals

- A rematch of the hot-seat match, where Strickland came out ahead. This was for all of the marbles though.
Every time these two players face off against each other, it’s a class match. This was definitely another one of those.
Grady Mathews and special guest Buddy Hall call all of the action.

Efren is always calm and smiling, that's why people like him a lot... unlike Strickland who always gets carried away by the atmosphere and emotions which makes his game bad.
i WISH i HAD A BAD GAME LIKE EARL'S!
Makes his game bad? What Earl are you watching? It isn’t the pool player. He is one of the best in the world. He just happens to wear his heart on his sleeve. He’s very competitive and shows the emotion I think the game needs. You’ll get told to “hush” down in the audience if you breathe to heavily. The game needs some excitement and wild entertainment to bring it more to life. It’s like watching golf, you have to sit there and stfu or else. It’s lame.
@@CarlCramer88Earl and Bata should have taken up Snooker. Seriously. Then they could have told people when to 'hush'. It's that British and Chinese shit that has taken over the emotional aspects of American Pool in pro competition settings over the 🌎 in relative recent years? Ok for the other, Not ok for Us? Hey fine with me. These 2 guys should have taught the Snooker stiffs a lesson. You'd see Bata cuss Then. Oh Yeah. I'd love to see his countrymen sit back in silence as he bit the dust to Ronnie O'Sullivan. I watch Snooker It's Badass Billiards. Tough. That would change the rules Real Quick if a Filipino got dusted by a Chinese guy on Filipino turf on a Snooker table! They would accept that? I don't think so. And they wouldn't be silent about their contempt. Would the Chinese accept it in silence if Bata dusted a top Chinese Snooker player? No Way. Yet alone things Earl Does. I mean forget it.
The magician seldom disappoints - - - I played Efren in 2017; the game was the best three out of five in nine ball. Of course he beat me and I enjoyed it. - - - If you are ever in the Huntsville Alabama area just stop by Steve's Cue and Grill - - - as you walk in you will see a picture of Efren and I on the left just outside the entrance of my cue repair shop - - - I'm there every week, if I'm not in my shop just walk up to the bar and look to your right - - - I am normally setting at the first table having coffee or unsweetened tea if I am not teaching someone how to shoot pool - - - if you shoot pool, since I own all the Diamond pool tables in the bar, the table time will be on me and I will let you break!
It's always easy to give commentary when you're on the side lines. Efren will always be the best!
I hate to see the Pearl let heckling get to him. He was shooting straight as an arrow flies before he got upset
Earl lost because he can’t control his emotions
Earl's already showing signs of belly bulge.
Where's the 5 mile runs and 500 crunches?
the commentary is enlightening. both are great players from a prior era. reyes' kick shots were "accidental" and earl couldn't possibly get a ball in line for the next shot (which was obviously possible for earl) - only because of the commentators' egos. also, they thought efren was the favorite/better player even though earl had beat him earlier during the tournament. earl was probably the best American pool player before SVB.
can we still get that book
Efren's shot did not hit a rail in the 11th game. Buddy was correct.
46:07 It was a good hit. If the cue hit the rail 1st it would continue along tangent line (over to the 3 & 8 balls)
it did, if you slow down the video to .25 speed you can see it hit the 2 ball first then hit the rail.
"Bet High and Kiss Low" starts at $199 used! whew.
I didn’t believe it until I looked it up, and that’s the paperback version too! 😮
That’s one thing I do better than Earl lol I keep my cool way better then he does 😆😆 that’s about the only thing I’m better at though it stops right there lol
Who was heckling Earl? I heard them mention Alex but I’m wondering if it was Alex Pagulayan.
It was. You can hear earl say tell Pagulayan to shut his mouth.
@@joemac999 Wow, if true, another Tour player
bothering another player...weak. Even if it was
because Pag is also Filippino like reyes.
Man, that introat about: 0:18. Buddy Hall must be pushing 400.#
Wait, only 375.
Dragged the time slider to the middle, Efren down by 4.
Dragged to the end, Efren wins by 4. 🇵🇭👍
Efren will always be the GOAT!
Boy, you can tell we have inflation. Shots used to be not worth a nickle. These guys now say, they're not woth a quarter...😊
That was not a rail in game 11.
yes it was. watch the direction of the cue after contact
Ooo, you’re right. 46:11. Sometimes I’m as blind as a bat backin’ up backwards.
Have you ever noticed how often Efron gets lucky...... perhaps it's not luck.
Does Earl have eyebrows?
46.08
Always disgusted the lack of sportsmanship of some cultures. Pagulayan winding up Earl from the audience. I like to see matches won based on skill, not on who's countrymen disturbs opponent from the sides. Efren always a pure gentleman tho.
31:09 mark. The Magician makes an awesome shot and the announcer basically calls him lucky by saying "his somehow accidentally go in a little more often than everybody elses". HATER!
