Really enjoyed the rythm in the editing. Going dark age is such a gamble though.
it's not like you really opt into it in Mp. You never really plan for it unless your era score is turbo doomed. So it's like, you don't really gamble for it but if you're going to miss your golden age by this much and risk being irrel, you might as well delay some stuff to try and avoid normal age
@@matsiv5707 If you want to avoid the normal age you have to avoid scouting wonders, players, pickcing up hutts, possibly picking a pantheon or a religion. Once I had to refuse a prophet in order to stay in dark.

ironically enough holy site civs are close-ish to how you would play any civ in single player...you just ignore misisonaries, go for monumentality and replace single-player pingala with moksha. I like theodosia because she's kind of a city builder leader that tacks culture on buildings you have anyway, has a very real shot at early coliseum and can pivot to war at any point your neighbour is lagging behind if you don't neglect science yourself or you reach tanks even a bit later, but you hit fascism first
Any leader that has civ bonuses that fit in a straightforward way in a standard opener thanks to flat bonuses for stuff you would do anyway, is pretty good. Tokugawa for example kind of tacks bonuses on a standard magnus internals opener.

Gorgo, along with Julius are the most broken civs in marathon.
nice play, very creative the first dark age internals! I often found this civ to struggles with production mid-game in teamers. any suggestions? It always have to sacrifice something: gold, science or production for those theater set ups
Lately I found theodora or chandra does the same role better in teamers with the better simming
In teamers, it really depends on how close you are to the enemy team. I'll assume you're playing with the Better Balanced Game mod as well for the sake of this advice.
Right next to the enemy? Open encampments + theater squares, rely on your teammates to trade you any gold you need for unit maintenance/upgrades. If your spawn is low on food, go audience chamber and spread governor titles around to grow your cities - otherwise, you can go warlord's throne.
Safe in the backline? Commercial hubs + theater squares, use internal trade routes to grow your cities to 7 pop by the mid game and get some campuses/industrials down. With Free Inquiry as your second golden age, you can get science from commercial hub adjacency and have really well-rounded stats. Play for a fascism timing push.

There is no difference. If you're not entering a golden age, they do the exact same thing. Drums of War was added by the Better Balanced Game mod to replace "Exodus of the Evangelists" (useless in multiplayer b/c players just condemn your religious units), and the devs couldn't think of anything creative for its normal/dark age dedication bonus.
This is my default culture pathing in any game. Spawned as gorgo - straight to totalitarianism, spawned as any other civ? Still totalitarianism
