I hear you on the longlist fatigue. (And I'm still sore about Wandering Souls too) We are pretty close in our predictions!

The fatigue was very real, I think I need to buffer myself a bit next year 😂

Always love some good use of categories 😅
I feel like I see everyone’s predictions and think ‘well, yep, that’s probably right’ because the standard is so even across a lot of these books that so many of them could make it. Not long to go now!

haha yeah I took a page from your book for the categories! Although I could have had cooler names 😆
All the shortlists were interesting like you said, and I still feel surprised by some picks 🤪

Great video! Loved your three categories and I think I mostly agree with the No and the maybe. I also don’t want a repeat of the Paul list but I do believe in the Anne Enright maths so it could happen. Sadly, although it’s my current favourite, I don’t think In Defence of the Act will be picked, but I will be delighted if it is. Same goes for Western Lane. 😊📚

Thanks Alice! Wished I'd been able to discuss with the plodalong ladies! You were very right about In Defence and Western Lane it turns out! Although they were in my shortlist!

One of the three Irish books has to be shortlisted. I’ve loved all three. I’ll be happy to see any of them in the list.
    My hope is
    Brotherless Night
    Enter Ghost
Will be there on list. I think either could win.

2 out of the 3 Irish books making the list is great! Although all 3 deserved it!

Our lists are soo close. My predictions are
Ordinary Human Failings (or) Soldier Sailor
    Enter Ghost
    In Defence of The Act
    Brotherless Night
    The Wren, The Wren
    Hangman
I haven't read Hangman but it really does feel like it could be the Pod.
I have to thank you because you talking about In Defence of The Act, when you talked about how funny it was I picked it up and it became my favourite of the books.
I was pretty sure when I talked about Anne Enright but I've been suprised to see a lot of people haven't gotten along with it or found it forgettable. I found it both, and she's been listed five times but she's only been shortlisted twice so she's not as sure of a bet as I thought at first. I am really gunning for Ordinary Human Failings and I know how people love Soldier Sailor, so I can hope.

You got 4 which is pretty good! And I'm so pleased you gave In Defence of the Act a chance because of me! I loved it too!
