    Hi Helen, in my seating area, I placed cardboard under the weed barrier. It helps with the weeds. I also did it in my garden area, which is all raised beds, nothing in the ground. I'm glad to see your restart is flourishing. Keep expecting a great harvest.

    • @HelenH

      Ok cool. I did that with the garden beds, too. I should have done that in this area as well. These weeds are strong!

    A suggestion for the black container. Put some mulch on top and it will keep the container from drying out so fast and hold the moisture longer when you water.
    Edit: Plus it’s organic matter which draws worms in.

    • @HelenH
      @HelenH  2 месяца назад

      Ok yes. I.will when the seedlings pop up. I usually use cedar mulch. I found with soft herb like seedlings they get smothered
      But I will be mulching everything again soon. Thank you

      @roniecesmith2800 2 месяца назад

      @@HelenH
      You are welcome friend. You can use actual wood chips, cedar mulch, brown leaves or fresh grass clippings as the covering. Use whatever you prefer. I prefer wood chips because it seems to hold in the moisture the best but I have used dry leaves cut up and fresh grass clippings. I’m in Florida and this heat is crazy to the point I know hell ain’t it for this sister. Just see what works for you. The goal is to keep the ground/soil covered so the sun won’t bake it and moisture can be maintained. Think of a forest the ground is always covered and it has the biggest most beautiful trees. Soil has life in it so it needs a covering as well in our gardens.

    Good afternoon Helen. I’m learning to use an agricultural vinegar water and dish soap spray to temporarily stop plant growth in areas where I do not want plant growth. You might want to look into using that mixture around your sitting area.
    You got your garden back together real quick. I’m so happy for you❤

    I put a thick layer of cardboard down first & then the weed barrier fabric on top of it… it works wonderfully!!
    This is the only weed suppression method I will go with going forward. First I thought it was too thick layer of cardboard. But it breaks down over time to nothing! The grass is smothered out and does not grow back

    • @ssamuel408
      @ssamuel408 2 месяца назад +1

      Great idea. Sometimes the weed barrier fabric gets holes and the weeds grows through the holes.

    • @ashes2beauti
      @ashes2beauti 2 месяца назад +1

      @@ssamuel408 Right! The thick layer of cardboard smothers out the roots completely! The only thing you need to do is keep the edges/perimeter trimmed.

    Looking good friend! You keep saying yeast. What yeast are you speaking of that makes the plants pop? I need to get back to my garden. It is an ashy chaotic mess. That heat was more than I could handle. If you’ve got an old electric vibrating toothbrush, that is great for pollinating tomatoes and eggplant. If you feel like giving away the gardyn, I’ll be more than happy to take it off your hands and give you some coins for it 🤗 and I’m in hot ace h-town too! 🤣💜💜💜
