Just booked the ship for next summer on a southern Caribbean itinerary. Sometimes I like a smaller ship, and this one looks like it has been renovated nicely. We are very excited about it. Too many people sometimes can be too stressful.
It’s not about the number of people, it’s about the layout. I’ve been on ships with 6000 people and never felt crowded. I’ve been on 2500 passenger cruises and felt like I couldn’t go anywhere without lines and masses of people blocking walking routes around the ship
I came aboard this beautiful ship 10th March 1998 as engineer. One week cruise , San Juan, Aruba, Curacao, St.Thomas, and St.Marteen. It was just incredible 3.5 months onboard Rhapsody of the Seas.
I'm going in with an open mind. Someone else's experience doesn't have to be mine. What was one of your favorite areas to just hang out and relax? I wish you could have done a tour of the cabin classes. Thank you for the video!
Ah, you’re in for a treat - I loved my time onboard! If you’d like to see more, I have a full vlog series from on here - under Royal Caribbean on my page!
I’d agree - I absolutely loved never being more than a few decks away from where I needed to be. I was a little worried this ship class would feel too small for me following from the big ones a few weeks before, but I was so wrong!
@@FraserAtSea I was on a transatlantic Honolulu-Sydney, 11 at the time. From what I can remember Izumi was basically another floor of the nightclub or something. I remember the Windjammer being crammed and seats heavy too haha. I either lived in the Windjammer (hot chocolate!!) or the Centrum.
great video!! thanks! we were on her last summer and will be again in a few weeks....great little ship. I actually prefer this size. While the larger ships have more bells and whistles, they also have twice as many guests.
I completely agree - I’ve fallen in love with the smaller ship sizes - everything is just SO convenient on here, compared to the bigger ones! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!
Great video- tour and thanks for sharing. Interesting! Curious if this will be the same cruise ship I am going to from Haifa-Cyprus- Greece "The Rhapsody of the Seas" this coming October but hopefully the same, it looks amazing!
Great video! Its remarkable how well maintained she is, Royal Caribbean seem to have done a sterling job! If you enjoyed Rhapsody, we’re pretty sure you’ll love Navigator! We’re looking at a cruise around the Holy Land on this class of ship for next year, so it was really helpful ☺️
Ah, I loved this class - I forgot how much I liked this size from the Marella days! Watch this space for Navigator - the more I see, the more reassured I am that it’s going to be excellent. Vision class are awesome for their itineraries! Thanks for watching guys 😊
Try the little Grandeur of the Seas, RCCLs oldest and smallest ship sailing, we sailed Grandeur in May and loved it!! It's nearly identical to Rhapsody :)
It seems that many of the "older" ships have more deck room and views of the ocean than some of the "newer" ships. Maybe that really isn't true, but just seems that way in some tour that I have watched. Prefer to spend as much time on deck as possible. I think I'd be a happy cruiser on Rhapsody for sure. Bruce and Otis
I’d agree with you with some of the modern ships - I’ve found that some of my recent ships seem to have been designed to make it feel like you’re not on a ship, which is a concept I’ll never buy into for a cruise ship. Interesting that you guys have thought the same!
Looks a nice ship. Think we may be going smaller in future, (although would like to try Costa Smeralda/Toscana!) so seeing this definately gives ideas.
That really is a lovely ship - I think I'd like a smaller and maybe slightly old fashioned cruise for my first time Thanks for sharing your impressions of everything. 😍
@@FraserAtSea Nope! Nothing as yet - still dreaming and watching other people like yourself getting on with it. To be fair though the prices always seem SO expensive - I don't know how people manage it, especially alone. However, I'm still getting on with living my van life dream and so far this month I have been the length and breadth of Wales and now am in London. Hoping to get to Manchester, Hull and all points north from there. 😃❤
Love this video narration video quality and review of the venues on the ship! Thinking of doing this ship leaving out of San Juan Puerto Rico. Going to 5 Carribean Islands with essentially one sea day. Or Symphony of the seas leaving out of Bayonne New Jersey my home port bigger newer ship but same itinerary I’ll be going on with Oasis of the seas this October 2023 with my mom. Pre birthday cruise. The Rhapsody or Symphony both would be third week of June 2024, with my husband. Decisions decisions 🚢
Thanks so much for your message, Natasha! Both sound like excellent options, but SUCH different ships! I also have a ship tour on my channel for Symphony if you’re interested. You’re going to have a ball, whichever you choose!
Are you looking at next May? That's what we are looking at. Came to watch this video because of it. We were on Jewel this year and loved her and the smaller size.
Great video. This was our first cruise experience. Nice staff. The food was great and the service was really good too. Love your accent Fraser. Where are you from? I guessed Manchester. My huzzy guessed Ireland 😊
Hey! So glad you enjoyed it - thanks for watching and following along! You’re both so close - the other part of the U.K.! I’m from Scotland 😊 How about you guys?
@@FraserAtSea you're welcome. Thank you for sharing. We're fascinated about your solo travels. New subby. Thank you for answering. We said Scotland then we both said, nahhh lol We're in Barbados 😊
You’re totally right - some striking similarities, for sure. I found it so interesting how similar they were, but also how different! Have you cruised on the Marella ships?
15 years or so since being on Splendour and Legend sister ships to Rhapsody. She seems to be wearing her age well with tasteful comestic surgery 😂. Was on Marella Discovery last year, Splendour in a new frock and she is wearing that well too. 😊
Hey Stephen! 👋🏼 You’re totally right - she’s wearing what she’s got SO well given her age - I was so impressed. I have cruised Marella Discovery 2 before, but that was before I fully caught the cruise bug, so I’ll need to get on there again for a proper look!
@FraserAtSea Thanks Fraser, Legend/Disco 2 was a lovely ship. Of course, as I said before we had great family cruises on it/them so there may be a hint of 'rose tinted specs' involved 😉. Hope your break is going well and your Ryanair Spanish 'Costa Seaside' trad hol was a good one! 🌞
Yes, 2017 Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cuba and Cozumel on Discovery 2 (Legend of the Seas) and spent 4 days on Discovery (Splendour of the seas) in 2022 in Bridgetown Barbados, we couldn't sail due to the entertainment's team coming down with Covid
@@FraserAtSea also the ship handled the whole situation very poorly, only making announcements almost 2 days after her disappearance when the parents asked for help only hours after her disappearance. The captain told the parents they searched the whole ship but later confessed that they only looked at the most obvious places. Suddenly all photos that were taken of her by a professional photographer (he took photos from all guests to layer make a collage) vanished completely, a band member was seen with her several times before she vanished ... she was probably sold into s*x slavery. There is some evidence (several sightings from different people, snd even an anonymous email sent to her parents with pictures of someone who looked a lot like her on a bed, almost completely naked and the photos were from an escort website . Sorry this was so long

Yeah, I’d agree re renovation - Rhapsody’s looking beautiful given her age! Stop back and let me know how it goes - I just loved this ship!

You’re so welcome! You’ve chosen a lovely little ship - have a great cruise!
I always loved this ship. Family went on this a ton when I was a kid and was always our favorite ship. Good memories made in it.

I'll be sailing this ship in a few weeks! My first RC cruise. I'm kind of excited but also nervous, I've been hearing mixed reviews

This was my first RC in the early 2000s. It was one of the biggest and most advanced back then
I can imagine. Thanks for commenting - I really did have a great time onboard Rhapspdy!
