For context about the first part of the video description, refer to my most recent community post. I also recommend watching this video in as high a quality as possible since the game is blurry on its own with the low graphics settings I'm forced to use due to old hardware.
Kinda sad this game sort of just came and went under the public eye, it's legitimately one of the better ARPG's i've played the past few years and it's crazy how many things tri-ace put into this battle system, I just wish the exploration were a little more eventful lol. I do wish it were harder though since outside of that bird boss on the mountain (which I heard they nerfed apparently) there really isn't a whole lot of super difficult fights in this. That said, the game is incredibly fair and i'll take a game like that any day over something that's trying a little too hard to be difficult.
I agree, it's one of the most fun games I've played in a good while and knowing there's another route I haven't played yet that'll actually have unique experiences is exciting. Exploration could've been a lot more fulfilling, I agree. Once you max out the scan ability and get whatever DUMA upgrades you want there's no real incentive to go around and grab DUMA points either, which is a bummer. The bird boss gave me a hard time yeah, a lot of the difficulty also comes from the AI in my experience. I would swap to Nina a lot to either ress people or teleport them next to me to get them out of super avoidable damage. Despite that I had tons of fun, and still am, and I'll probably come back to this game many times over the years.
Yeah, not surprising considering how Final Fantasy 16 would Overshadow this game by a mile long. But at Least we’re getting Star Ocean 2-R. So at least this game made some money back :). I mean there are ALOT more Commenters here :) It’s a sign of a Healthy IP :)
@@danielramsey6141 Incredibly late reply because I only saw this comment just now lol SO2R seems to be a massive hit which is a really good sign for the series. I've also seen quite a few sour takes on FF16 now that it's been out for a while (I haven't played it myself, mind, so idk how valid those criticisms are) imo Star Ocean should ride this wave and capitalize on the success of the SO2 remake because they've absolutely been blowing other contemporary JRPG franchises (Tales, the main focus of this channel) out of the water in terms of remakes/remasters.
I'm glad you've been having fun! After SO5 I was a bit put off following this one, but I'm glad it's a fun experience!
Haven't played SO5 but I hear it's a bit of a mixed bag. I can say 6 has been a very enjoyable experience tho, and well worth checking out!

It feels weird seeing the name ”Marielle” in a game like this ey Vic? 😅😅😅
Haha I totally get the confusion, I had to do a double take when I first saw the name as well.
