could not believe this popping up in my recommendations. crazy seeing PJ interviews since they are so rare, specially these days. Not even the Nine Club has been able to get him
PJ ladds wonderful horrible life was the 1st Skate Video I ever bought. It was on a blue VHS. Inspired me so much, one of my favorite skaters ever. Thanks PJ!!
Dammm I've never clicked so fast. Been literally waiting to hear this man speak for the last 23 years I've skated. Thanks for making this happen. Some constructive criticism - I understand youve got to tread carefully around certain topics but he did start to open up about his beliefs and who he is at certain points - with womens rights, animals, tv, death. You could have explored these things more with the right questions. Maybe like "can you tell us more about that?" "I'd love to hear more, where did you develop these ideas?". Hope that helps and massive shout out to PJ. He seems so calm, wise and obviously one of the best skaters ever.
Two of my absolute favorites Skaters who pushed the envelope of boundaries to what is possible on a Skateboard. And they looked Damn good while doing it! Danny and PJ along with Tom Penny and Guy Mariano never ever failed to get me stoked to get out and spend the day into the night just skating and encountering all different personalities in life. Most good and some not so.. Thank you Pj and Danny , for being the flame to many skaters fuses. Fantastic interviewer Danny! And Fantastic interview PJ! ❤❤
Omg!!! Pj ladd!!! I skated with him in the streets of boston!!! One of the best ive seen🤙🏼🤙🏼 wonderful horrible life was one of the best sk8 parts EVER
Great interview! Definitely one of the greats! The shout-out Montesi, grown up skating with him. Everything was so gnarly and head high. Definitely one of the greats in my eyes!
First of all OOF, this interview sent me down memory lane big time. Started skateboarding in '96 as a 8 year old and maybe maybe I shed a tear. It’s all love
I was at the Delux demo in San Antonio. The chris culture warehouse. Bob burnquist gave me my first taste of beer at that demo. He was on antihero then and had an antihero tramp stamp. Lol Never had another sip of mickeys since then. Danny fuckn ripped! He did a footplant finger flip on the volcano, that is what I heard skaters call it. It was amazing. Danny G and Forest are San Antonio legends. Also, that ceiling ride Danny did at the I-10 ditch is epic. Peace
Check out his wheels of fortune. Got one of the most streety sf lines you’ll ever see. Hammers it with manualling down wallenberg (before the ramp) to ollie the bottom step.
Insane to see him skate in person. One time back in Boston i watched him skate copley fountain.. i started counting his tricks.. lost track after like 30.. just all in a row..amazing amazing skater. GOAT
THE BEST OF ALL TIME, sad to not have the opportunity to watch him doing Olympics I'm pretty sure he should win the gold men PJ is the original virus off street skateboarding... even now some of his tricks are played on champs and hes being doing those for over 15 years, also happy to just hear from PJ, greeting from Lima, Perú.
absolutely love PJ and I'll take any PJ content I can get, but major props to Danny - tough to interview a guy when he is too nice to answer 80%+ of the questions 😂
The man ! PJ is the best man, back in the days where real videos on tape was the only way you saw any skateboarding ! Wonderful horrible life took me through some really tough times in my life and inspired so many like everything before and after from PJ. You guys are the best ! Thanks for sharing this, peace and love all 🙏 Get that skate on !
Oh so much to love, it was great how genuinely interested PJ was in asking Danny questions, seeing these two world-class pros and skating scholars get deep in the weeds was a gift, and when asked about learning new tricks part of me expected PJ to say, "Oh I know them all so non-issue, man" XD He is so deserving of the peace and continued growth he speaks to, as well as a contract at éS, the Penny, Muska, Saari, and Creager recruitments and shoe reissues need a Ladd in there! Appreciate you @Danny Gonzalez, been a fan for a long time and this is such a great use of your connections and talents, keep it up!
@@dannygonzalezskate ah cool! Thanks Danny! Hope to see a new videopart from you, with a crazy " manny rewind" variation in it. I think you're one of the most underrated pro skaters ever ❤️

PJ was a Mass legend. Skated with him in Rockland center, Scituate Skate Park, Boston, Skater's Island. He was better than most pros by the time he was 15 or so
when asked favorite vids around 14:00 "and a random shoutout, troubleshooters..." yeah!! I remember when it came out! I was in Okinawa, with the skate scene there... and being from wisconsin. I lost my VHS copy, but was happy to find out that it's up on youtube now...
Damn, hearing some of those names dropped again is wild. Shout out to the old indoor Skatepark of Austin (RIP) and Cody McEntire. Rest in peace Luke Ceballos.
Wtf, on a whim I decided to watch his Wonderful, Horrible Life part, and was absolutely shocked to see this. As a fellow Texan, Danny Gonzalez was a legend, its great to see him and Ladd talk. Sounds like they're both doing really good.
I remember when I saw the part Horrible Life the first. That was the beginning of a new area of skateboarding, it was mind blowing. Similar to Pat Duffy's part at his time. What a legend!!!
matt was motivational to skate with, he was non stop at any session. to this day we still refer to a spot in oakland (university of pittsburgh) as the reason gap. 6’ tall wall, gap over the sidewalk into the street. you’d have to get mad speed to clear it.
I can’t say much that haven’t been said about this man. He has been my favorite skater since 2002. Along with Penny and Bastien. I think those 3 are the best skaters who have ever skated.
0:15 countless videoparts? :D I can count them: 3 (4 if we count that minute in éSpecial, and 5 if we count Boston Massacre, which was leftover footage from WHL)
Hell Yeah Wisconsin shoutout! Milwaukee born and raised here, also road Am for Beer City then Illenium and Globe and after Ill I rode flow for Element for a number of years. ✌💜🤙
@dannygonzalezskate Yeah it's my first time here and subbed during the conversation! I dig the vibes and quickly noticed & loved PJ's spiritual awareness!
Pj wont probably see this but i remember skating late nights in a park in los angeles called pan pacific park, he was always there skating in the parking lot by himself. I was also skating in the parking lot. Never wanted to bother him but i knew who he was. Shout out to him.
remembering the undying kickflip melon grab is it wallenberg? and flip into the tree? am i right? what vid was that with mosley, the reason orbefore it? thanks for this sirs! pj made the new balance numeric legit early dayz
It would've been good to ask and talk more about him, his life and his faith/belief system to get more of an insight into who he is, what his life is like and what he thinks and believes in. How could you not ask about his faith/belief system? Is he Sikh?
I think if you are able to land an interview with PJ, you have to tread VERRRRRYY lightly lol. He was even stand offish answering questions about skateboarding so I can just imagine what would happen if Danny tried to dig deeper. I would’ve loved to hear that stuff too tho!
@@moratin17 The part when he was talking about how you have lived already 8 million lives. Man I was hoping is was going to go into detail I am very intrigued as well.
@@moratin17 I don't think he would stop the interview or leave if he was asked a question/s he didn't want to answer. If he was asked a question/s he didn't want to answer I think he would just give a brief, general and or superficial answer or a bum steer, both of which I think he did to a degree. He seemed friendly, pleasant and chill enough about it. I think he's a somewhat private and reserved person and or doesn't like and want attention and he's selective about what he says. He may be an introvert too. Maybe he didn't answer some questions like e.g. 'Carroll or Howard?' and others like that maybe because he thought the questions were competitive, polarizing, divisive or something and or he didn't want to favour anyone because he likes and respects them all and he wanted to be nice and respectful and didn't want to show any favouritism. He may not have had any favourites or preferences. Maybe he also didn't want to say anything that might offend people. Maybe he didn't answer some questions because he's humble and didn't want to sound as if he's bragging. Since it seems rare and perhaps difficult to get an interview with him, I say if you have the chance to interview PJ, don't hold back. As long as there's nothing wrong with your questions there's no harm in asking him. Let him decide what and how he wants to answer, which he did. He may have divulged more information about himself and his life if he was asked more, albeit perhaps reluctantly.
Your partly right, but not all. But I did ask him way more questions to get more insight to who he is, but sometimes he didn't give answers. So final interview time was a lot shorter than the actual sit down and chat.
PJ is a wizard. Similar to Tom Penny where he doesn't play within the industries wants and desires . He is an original. peace
