Love seeing you review Dr Aron's book! When I found this book years ago it was like finding my owner's manual. It was incredible to me and made me realize I am not "broken" or something was wrong, it was just me! It allowed me to accept myself in a way I didn't realize I needed. Everything you said about it is exactly what I experienced when I read it. I literally read the whole thing in one sitting, I couldn't put it down. I even wrote a thank you letter to my mom after reading it for being so good at raising me. I was also sick a lot, and nerves always upset my stomach, so much that I had to do a bunch of tests to see if there was something wrong physically. The way you described spirituality is the same way I explain it. I think we can sense other HSP's also. When I first happened on your site I felt like we were very similar almost immediately. Thank you!!
Many members of my family are HSP. Many also with Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria. It can make communication at holiday gatherings a challenge. It does help to understand each other more though. I find the tips for Sensory Processing Disorder are quite helpful for HSP. I appreciate and enjoy your book reviews, I plan on reading Think Like a Monk next.
I thought I was weird because I tend to pleasure read non-fiction. Glad to meet another non-fiction fan. :) I agree the High Sensitive Person felt padded but was overall good because it described my significant other quite well. He doesn't read for pleasure so I haven't been able to get him to read it, but it sure does describe him. I will be adding Think Like A Monk to my reading list, sounds like something I'd enjoy. Although, The First 20 Hours might be good too. Thanks for the head up about Amazon Prime Kindle, I didn't know that was available. BTW, you would be a good audiobook narrator. I listen to a lot of them, you have a great voice and delivery. :)
Love good book reviews and you are very good at them. I followed you from the Low Carb world so good to find some of your other material interesting. I am an extravert HSP, which feels like a contradiction, but life is messy this way. One strong recommendation for you is to read the enneagram book and do the test online. Having done a lot of the more commercial personality work (like Myers-Briggs) in my corporate life, I found the enneagram 8 personality types far more based on good science and far more useful.
Steve, good morning. I’m also reading the book “Think like a Monk.: I’m enjoying this book there are some really good take always in the book. Have a great rest of your week.
Thanks for both of these reviews. Think Like a Monk has now been added to my TBR. I'm really looking forward to your next review as that could be a very helpful topic of learning to me.
Thanks, Steve! These are really helpful reviews. Both of these books are now on my reading list. In addition, it looks like Jay Shetty has a podcast called "On Purpose" that covers insightful topics and people. I'm going to add to my podcast listening rotation as well.
I agree, I get a bit frustrated with most books as they sometimes only give information on a small portion of a broader topic. Which can be useful sometimes but I really prefer at least some reference to the other aspects of the broader topic as to assist the reader with continuing on their journey in discovering the broader topic. With that said, term highly sensitive person can be used interchangeably with empath. I’ve been studying a lot about this topic as well as I too resonate as a highly sensitive person.
HSPs do tend to be empaths, but the sensitivity includes other things like sounds, lights, crowds, etc. You can be an empath without necessarily being a HSP.
Kudos Steve. I enjoyed "Think Like a Monk". I don't think I'm a HSP; but, I may add the book to my reading rotation because I know several people who are, and this may help me relate to them. My other favorite books are "Atomic Habits" and "Good to Great".
Im going to check out both of these. Thank you. I am a hospi e nurse and one of our chaplains used to do guided meditation with us if we were interested. I loved it. If you record yourself doing that would you be willing to share?
Thanks Steve! Good info, I so appreciate the transparency you shared about your past. I too am an HSP, just put the book in my cart! Liking the content you’re adding to LBM!❤
Huh. I wasn't the only one with the experience with the hsp book. A lot of fluff. But I have to read 10 pages every day as part of 75 hard. I only have 3 books set a side for this project. So I shall persevere.
I am a HSP as well so this book is interesting. I am not sure I want to relive that trauma but I am thinking about it. "Think like a monk" sounds fantastic but then Jay Shetty is fantastic. Thanks for these reviews. So interesting and I am definitely reading "Think Like a Monk."
Read the HSP book years ago and scored similar to you, not 100% but up there. I think you said once you were INFJ unless I am mistaken, I am INFP. I was raised and schooled Catholic but am now more spiritual. How many of us are in this Midwestern tribe? You bring the cheese. 😜
I appreciate your disappointment in the Highly Sensitive Person - not supplying some strategy tips...."news you can use" in fraught situations. I've added Think Like Monk to my list for the library. (I love the library!) Read on Steve.

Interesting book selections Steve. I think I’ll check them out. Can’t wait for April’s book review.

I believe Atomic Habits deserves to be read once per year.

Testing, hi Steve!
Sounds like a good book overall
Great review. Waiting for another video!
Things are going a little slower than I had hoped for this channel, but I'm not giving up on it.
@@LeanBodyMind No big deal. We understand that managing two channels isn't easy, so it's good to know that you're not giving up on it.

For sure.

I'm definitely a Sensitive Person. I also dislike the filler fluff in books. It wastes my time.

A lot in common...
I'm not sensitive, tried it once but didn't like it😅. Thanks for posting.

The worst thing for me is a lot of paranoia
Yikes!
