After getting over the hype of going from console to pc, Im inclined to tell you its fine to enjoy gaming on whatever platform you can afford. You can justify a bunch of arguments for every platform. Even PC gamers argue over which pc parts are best and roast each other for their choices. So do yourself a favor, don't let others make you feel bad if you enjoy console gaming. I havent upgraded my pc from a 1070 because the current market is so expensive. I’ve been gaming on all of them for a while now, though did start on console until a couple years ago. One of the most touted and oversold features PC players will harp on is modding. In my experience, most of the mods are novelty, one to two play session events that end in three distinct scenarios: You have your fun and forget about it by the next weekend, you introduce all kinds of technical issues and spend more time trying to fix it than playing it, or you are unimpressed that it doesn’t match the description and hype and end up playing something else, forgetting to uninstall it as it takes up space in your PC for months or years. That’s about 90% of the time, and the 10% that it fixes UI, improves performance or translation, or expands on the actual experience of a game (a fan made campaign, a new game mechanic) while legitimately awesome, doesn’t push modding into some mystical space that everyone who cannot do it is robbing themselves of fun for not taking part.
Modding is great. You’re not missing much if you don’t partake, considering how many available games are ready to go should you get bored.

Since middle school (2002), I've been playing on consoles until about 3-4 years ago when I switched to PC. From experience with both, I can confirm that PC is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, you have far fewer restrictions on what you can play, what you can do, and how good your games can look and run. On the other hand, unlike consoles, if you aren't decent with tech, navigating settings, and troubleshooting, a PC is a nightmare for figuring out why something isn't working because there's a good chance any issue could have at least half a dozen potential reasons for why it's happening.

The problem with PC gaming now is the huge influx of cheaters. There’s a device called DMA and it allows the person to run cheats undetected. It’s becoming more & more available to regular users. It was more of a streamer thing but now people are getting their hands on them easier. I’d rather not bother with multiplayer games anymore. Single Player for me now with NexusMods. What? No, they're not. If you found them at those prices, whether you're paying more for the 4060 or the 4500, then... go find similar parts for that price range that perform better? A 4500 is not $140. It's half that price. RTX 4060 are hard to find at over $299 actually. Zotac has the cheaper ones, and they range from $279 to $289 (this is the bigger one).
      Ryzen 5 4500: $68

MSI MAG Forge M100R Case $55
I don't know where you're looking for those parts, but if you truly have to elevate your price by that much, swap that motherboard and CPU for something else. There are already newer offers for a similar price.
You can add a mouse and keyboard combo for $10 to $15. If you need Windows those are another $16, but it's not needed. Thanks to the community you can have a Steam Deck like experience for free, but your system would be more focused on gaming than anything else.

@@joseijoseiYou spend less on pc though, a lot of games are on sale, or you can get them for really cheap through sites. And you don’t pay for a subscription. Most games on console are full price. So if you were to buy 2 games you’d already be spending 120 bucks if both games were 60 bucks. Now if you pay for online subscription too thats around 120 bucks a year. In 5 years thats about 600 euros, and you could have used that money for other things. Pc is more expensive in the short term, console more in the long term. A top tier graphics card from 2015 still holes pretty well in most games today. A xbox from 2015 needs to play every game on lowest settings or will have performance issues.

And PC isn't more expensive short term either. On front? Yeah, but barely, and you get more than the extra you paid. A Ryzen 4500 + Zotac 4060 ($289) + 3P3 Crucial + 16 gigs Fury Beast build costs less than $600, even if you include mouse and keyboard. That build gives you access to not only better performance than a PS5 at base, but on top of that, you get some tools to get DOUBLE the performance using the same graphics settings and native resolution, because consoles use FSR and... that's it. Frame Generation, Nvidia Reflex, DLSS 3.5 and the RT performance the 4060 has are all tools you have at your advantadge. If you don't count how well this card does with RT in comparison to a PS5, you get double the performance, better image definition and around half the input latency (yes, even with Frame Gen on). Turn on RT, and then you get over double the performance of a PS5 (if the PS5 is also using RT), and better reflections on top of that (again, using the same settings), so you're getting what you paid for, and you're going to start saving money pretty quickly. A PS4 is $399 at the very least + 1 year of PS Plus is $80 and buying a game you'll have to spend lile $10, $15, $20, or more (it depends ln the game, and how you got it) on PS5, so it doesn't going to take long until you break even, and then start saving money with PC. I'm talking about short term. The only time when the PS5 is less expensive is on front, when you want to buy a platform to play one game in particular (keeping in mind your experience will be worst).

Gaming on Couch vs Gaming with mouse and keyboard precision.
If splitscreen couch coop was still around more, I'd be gaming on consoles as much as PC. I would have easily bought Killing Floor 2 on console all those years back for splitscreen.

I come from Nintendo, then SNEs, Play, PC, Xbox, Play Slim. And lately I'm playing in consoles because I see PCs more for work, recording music, etc. When I want to play I JUST WANT TO PLAY FOCUSED ON my VIDEOGAMES, and when I want to play and/or record guitar, bass, drums, I Use my PC because WHEN I WANT TO WORK I WANT TO ONLY WORK and of course I enjoy working recording music for fun. The point is, I like both worlds separated, mostly videogames on consoles, and the rest like manga, anime, music recording, etc on PC. ❤

No, the take is not awful at all, PC is so much cheaper in the long run, no subscription, much cheaper games and deals, one or even two free games every week

    Both machines are good
But one of my personal reason for not trying a console is mostly just forward compatibility of games, I just want to be able to play old games regardless of whether it's current gen or new gen.
The only time I look at consoles way is games that are exclusive release to them.
While I know most modern consoles are trying to make old games compatible to modern rig, imo it's kinda too late.
Especially with the rise of handheld PCs in the market and is still improving each year, I may not look at getting console in the foreseeable future.
Lastly not really hating on it. Just it doesn't feel as accessible as a pc would

Upscaled 4k and 60fps is enough and I'm not waiting a couple years for console exclusives to launch on PC

I have been playing games on PC for years.
    You build a PC once.
As for 1440p PC visually is better by a lot.
Trouble shooting is better than waiting 6 months for an update.
Drivers are done most times behind without you noticing them.

Normally I completely agree with your take, but this time... I can't. I was a hardcore console guy because of the reasons you listed, but now almost everytime I do have time to play some games, I have system updates, then I have game updates, if I dont have enough room I have to delete games just for the updates, on top of if I want to play some games online, I have to pay a subscription to play... maybe a few years ago console was better, but now that they're almost completely digital... pc is the way to go.

Recently built my first PC after being primarily a console gamer most of my life. Aside from PC games when I was a kid like RuneScape, WoW, and flash games, I’ve always had a console. I had a shitty PC with my PS5 that let me play oldschool runescape and watch twitch streams and stuff but my new PC is a fuckin beast lol. Anyone with any type of comprehension on how PCs work and what they do will know they are far superior to consoles. Consoles have the plug and play ability and they are centralized around gaming which makes them very efficient and very affordable which they win in that department. But there’s absolutely no denying that actual performance, capability, longevity, and upgrade ability goes to the PC. It’s just a far superior device. Not to mention you can completely customize the PC to your liking and even throw some cool rgb in there to spice it up ;)

Its pretty simple if you Just want a device for entertainment go for a console because trust me after a long day in work sitting infront of your desktop you just want to chill and play some exclusives on your Console its way better than again sitting infront of a desktop but yeah if you want over all stuff or you are a student go for Pc because end of the day you will understand that you need to do something to earn your living and then you will learn some skills and will go for a job or a business will get tired sitting infront of a desktop and will buy a console to just chill
