The most common thing to eat in Denmark is actually pork and potatoes , then beef and chicken , a lot of people eat fish once or twice a week and on certain times of the year like Christmas buffets (not on Christmas eve then we eat pork roast or duck, potatoes with brown sauce, caramelized potatoes, chips -yes 3 kinds of potatoes!!! stewed and red cabbage ) however on other Christmas celebrations we have a huge table with different smørrebrød (open sandwiches ) starting with fish, then hot things like meatballs and warm liver pate' and ending up with cheese.
We also eat fish new years eve , and also if you go to some of the Islands or up north of Jutland there tend to be more fish dishes , but you can certainly always get pork, there is more than double the amount of pigs than humans in Denmark as the country is a major farming country exporting lots of pork, chicken and dairy products

This! Thank you for your insight, Veronica. It just goes to show that sometimes, perception needs to be validated yourself so you can draw your own conclusions. Everyone cautioned me about finding things other than seafood to eat. I was almost nervous about what I'd be able to eat. Upon arriving in Copenhagen, I was delighted to find so many different options. No surprise, because everything was incredible in Copenhagen!

Something about the vikings you probably did not learn from our national museum is that they invented the income tax. This happened at the time where they were occupying large parts of England. At first they just went around there from time to time, plundering. They knew they should not plunder more than the people they were plundering could still survive, or the fighting would be too hard. After some time they found out an easier way than all the fighting: They declared that people should give them a portion of their income. If they gave them enough there would be no fighting, but if some people refused to pay their income tax they would be plundered.

Been told, green and white tea in the warmer months and black teas in the cold. Herbal tea is for all seasons, there's one for each season's. I'd say 3 people could chow down 12-16 lbs

    Prayer type day?
Nope, probably just a regular Sunday here in the civilised world.

It was “Store Bededag” (Great Prayer Day). The hotel told us some shoppes might have different hours for it. We found a couple that were, but all was good!

@@TravelNoJitters From the Wiki of Pedia:
"Store bededag is a collection of minor Christian holy days consolidated into one day. The day was introduced in the Church of Denmark in 1686 by King Christian V as a consolidation of several minor (or local) Roman Catholic holidays that had survived the Reformation of the national church. Store bededag is a statutory holiday in Denmark. It was one of the few holidays that survived in the great holiday reform that was carried out in 1771 during the reign of Christian VII, when his Prime Minister, Count Johann Friedrich von Struensee, was in power. The day was introduced as a more efficient alternative to individually celebrating a number of holidays honoring various minor saints in the Spring. It was not, however, Struensee who had come up with the idea of this particular reform, as the church commission which had worked on it had been instituted several years before Struensee arrived at the Danish court.
Bells in every church announce the eve of store bededag.
There are very few traditions associated with store bededag. Formerly, citizens and students of Copenhagen strolled the city ramparts on the evening before the holiday; the students of Copenhagen University did this to honour the many students who had died defending Copenhagen during the assault on Copenhagen. In the evening before the holiday, it was customary to buy and eat varme hveder, a traditional bread, because bakers were closed on holidays and people bought bread for the following day.
Today, the city ramparts are gone and instead the tradition is to walk along Langelinie on Copenhagen's waterfront or on the fortification of Kastellet, though only few follow this tradition depending on the spring weather. It is more common, also outside Copenhagen, to still buy and eat varme hveder.
This and Kristi Himmelfartsdag (Ascension Thursday) are the only two days, other than Saturdays and Sundays, on which confirmations take place, for confirmation is part of regular church services.
The earliest possible day is April 17 (if Easter falls on March 22), the latest possible day is May 21 (if Easter falls on April 25)." ;)

Store Bededag was always on a Friday. I wrire "was", as it was voted out as a sacred day in the Danish parliament, early 2023, starting from 2024.
So you should have visited in 2024,and you'd be fine.
