Just another great review from Jason, then all the sudden BOOM he busts out three more bottles! Must have slept well in the mash and drum whiskey room that night! Cheers buddy!
Old Fitz 13: $389 in Brooklyn USA. Just looked it up. Definitely past the point of diminishing returns. I'll buy Booker's at $90 (MSRP $75) and another bottle of Rebel Yell 10 and still be way ahead.
PalJoey1957 You’ve got the right attitude! Something has to change to allow consumers to obtain these bottles at retail. Maybe there are too many flippers 🤷♂️.
The more we, customers, ignore the secondary market and even the frenzy itself, the more we talk to others about the better available alternatives, the better. Let the flippers get stuck with their stuff. Bourdain is dead and pappy is not the best bourbon in the world (and there's no such thing). 😎

@@floridaliving9853 I've been getting a nagging suspicion (a hunch, really) that this whole thing with "rare" bourbon, allocation, etc. was a clever long con, a ruse, to set the bourbon scene abuzz. I'd much rather see the producers charge whatever the market will bear and use the money to expand capacity, improve quality, etc. Also, at this point I am 99% convinced that the shortage of aged stocks was a ruse, remember the disappearing age statements? And now we see older and older statements. There is a GLUT of whisky in warehouses globally and the producers are trying to manage it cleverly without spooking the consumer. I like how Beam is doing it so far. I don't appreciate Heaven Hill (which I like) upcharging so much for theirs. We'll see how it plays out. I've walked away from Weller Antique 107 at $50 at 2 stores in one day. It was a definite buy when it was $27 here, not even 2 years ago. It's ok at $50. Beyond that I'd tend to explore barrel strength single barrels.
A little comparison?! That's what I'm talking about, buddy! Well played, sir. Love the history at the beginning. You laid it out nicely! Cheers, Jason!
Great job. If one is looking for a 13 year old bourbon (or whisky) try George Dickel Bottled in Bond. MSRP of $36. Keep the great reviews coming!! And yes I did not forget the "E" as whisky is spelled this way on the bottle. I hear the story that George Dickel thought his product was as good as any scotch and that is why he went with whisky not whiskey.
Great review, Jason! Old Fitz is priced here in Cali at instant secondary from what I've seen ($200-$400) but haven't yet seen the 13. From the sample I've had it's fantastic stuff! One day I'll get all the Fitzes😁 Cheers brother!
Hey J, excellent review as always! The “premium” bourbon market is one of the most interesting and frustrating niches to explore. It’s incredible when you can get your hands on a bottle of something like this or BTAC at retail. Like winning the lottery. Glad you got it my friend!
Great when you share your reviews of some of the more hard to find bourbons. Gives me confidence in my purchases, when I do happen to come by one that is priced right. Thanks, Jason.

Just won a bottle of OF13 in a lottery (at retail) and I'm stoked! I really didn't want to pay secondary. Those prices are nosebleed high. (New sub here sir). Love the review!
I really enjoy this whiskey!! I think we paid around $130 for this one also. I think a lot of the price on this one comes from the fancy decanter and availability. Marketers going to town on the fact that it’s kind of hard to get. All in all I really enjoy this whiskey. Great review Jason!! Cheers!!🥃

People forget (or don't realize) that "secondary market" here in the US is illegal, both re-selling and buying of liquor.
