    One of the best video on the Q series. Professional quality and unbiased comments. Thanks a lot. I love headless guitars and I'll certainly purchase one of these, I am just thinking of waiting for a prestige model or something to come out.

    The last thing I need is another guitar🤣🤣, but with advancing years and arthritis the light weight of these has caught my eye and I've been seriously looking at the Ichi10, being a Stratocaster man at heart. I'm glad you're digging yours. You might just have helped to push me a couple of steps further down this road. Thanks.

      No problem, thanks so much for watching and I’m glad it helped! I’m a strat guy too Paul so I reckon the Ichi would be a good shout. I don’t want to be an enabler but we’ve all got room for just one more guitar, right? 😂 Thanks again mate!

      I hear you about advancing years. Im about to be 55, and I really struggle when I play a Les Paul, strat, tele or any other traditional guitar. They are classics, but my back just cant take it anymore, so these headless guitars are just the ticket.

    • @michael1
      @michael1 4 месяца назад

      The caveat emptor is just how many of them have QC issues. It's a little bit disingenuous of Ibanez to charge what they do for the itchi10 and call it a signature guitar. It's not a prestige high quality instrument, it's a low tier Ibanez guitar - not even premium level, built in Indonesia and many of them arrive with QC issues which your retailer may or may not just pass onto you. Note too now the Jescar Gold has been replaced with Stainless steel for 2024 models (in fact models built with serial numbers starting 2308 have stainless steel frets. If it were £500 or less you probably would fret about it.

    I am used to playing Traverlers guitars (the former EG2 strat like and the LTD EC1 Eclipse shapped), on which I have replaced all the crappy electronics with EMG and Kinman harness. I like the gain of weigth, portability, comfort and reliability of those kind of guitars. And you travel with no fear to break the headstock !
    I tried both the Q54 HSS and Q52 HH versions. They are awesome, great sounding, light, reliable ... I couldn't choose betwwen one of them, because the Q54 has no humbucker in the neck position (but it comes in BLACK) and the Q52 has the nech humbucker but is only available un BLUE... I just couldn't choose between the neck humbucker and the neck+middle single coils. the electronics is such versatile that you can have a very good single coiled sound coming from the humbucker, so maybe I will stick with this one... when it comes in BLACK
    I have read however some bad review of them, especially about the electronics and some flaws in the finish.
    The both I tried had no issues.
    So I will be patient and wait to see what Ibanez will do with this Q serie in the future. Sure, I would like a Prestige Made in Japan guitar, it would be awesome.
    In my opinion, those Q series are the best good looking headless designed guitars. I jus t CAN'T purchase a Strandberg, even if they sound great and have graphite reinforced roasted mapple... I just can't. The Q serie shape reminds me a bit of the Ibanez Sabre S serie, which is great and light and comfortable. See you in 2023 Ibanez, and wait for the Prestige version !
    I just couldn't choose between the neck humbucker and the neck+middle single coils. the electronics is such versatile that you can have a very good single coiled sound coming from the humbucker, so maybe I will stick with this one...

    Thank you for your nice sharing. I'm waiting for a Q52 that I ordered before Christmas here in Italy to my trusted shop. I will have to wait for it - hopefully - unti the end of next February.
    About a possible questionable setup in factory, this is one of (many!) reasons why I prefer buying in shops much more than on line.

      I agree, if you can buy from a shop you know and like that take the time to inspect and set up their guitars then that's the best way to go. That said, I absolutely expect better from the factory especially at this price point.

    I love my RG, I even installed a set of P-Rails with the Seymour Duncan 'Versatility wiring' (not actual name, just what I call it), which was the Dyna-mix system that inspired me to do so. But the neck does get uncomfortable after awhile and also the weight.
    I tried the AZ and I loved it, but it's a little too much for me when it comes to the price (currency related). When I saw the Quest series getting announced and upon seeing the similar specs of it to the AZ, fixed bridge and especially ergonomic minded design, I've decided on saving up for the Q54, so I have a slightly different flavored sound when compared to my RG.

    • @JackTaylorGuitars
      @JackTaylorGuitars  2 года назад +2

      By the sounds of it, the Q54 is probably exactly what you’re looking for. Try and get one in your hands, see how it compares to your RG and go from there. I would say, if the RG neck gets uncomfortable for you then avoid the QX guitars as the Parallel Wizard is soooo flat haha
      Enjoy dude and let me know how you get on if you pick one up! 🤘

  • @brondang7780
    @brondang7780 2 года назад +2

    How's the 6-string compared with the 7-string? I was initially interested in the 7-string but couldn't get my hands on one unfortunately. I ended up getting the QX54QM (blue top, slanted frets) and agree with you on most points. I absolutely love it. To me, they very much feel as though they were designed for double tapping in mind - on clean channel the pickups are extremely responsive. Couple that with the dyna-mix system and you can get so many tone varieties for clean double tapping. And the slim and lightweight neck makes it a shredder's dream IMO.
    All that said, unfortunately did have some QC issues - same as yours, came with the bridge PU way too high touching the strings, so had to lower it. The tone knob gives very uneven resistance when rolling from low to high, and the PU selector knob is cheap and flew off the very first time I went to change PU selection midway through playing. Those are kind-of whatever issues that I can live with though. Really the most annoying thing is there's a portion of the maple top (around above the bridge pickup) which feels sanded and grainy. It's clearly not supposed to be as its noticeably different compared with the rest of the top (which is smooth and what you'd expect). Cosmetics wise its not noticeable, but its noticeably different feel, so that irritated me.

    • @ImInYourBrains
      @ImInYourBrains 2 года назад +2

      I got one and I have the same issue with the sanded grainy feel next to the bridge pickup but since its really not visible and I dont really feel the texture while playing in classical position, Ive ended up forgetting about it. Thats the thing with guitars. When you get them, every tiny blemish or flaw weighs on your mind, but with this guitar and other headless guitars, the comfort, playability, and quality sound trumps all.
      For me there are only 2 other issues with the guitar I got. It was near perfectly setup out of the box. The A-string on mine came with an action that was just a shade two low and would occasionally produce buzzing when Im fretting around the middle of the board somewhere near the 7th fret. So I raise it a touch. The only other issue is the cutout in the body for fitting with your core/chest isnt perfectly designed with classical position in mind. In relaxed position, the guitar rested perfectly balanced against your body, but in classical position I find that the guitar digs into my left pec area right next to the middle and is uncomfortable. I keep adjusting the guitar. I fixed through adjusting the strap length but then the position/angle of the guitar isnt a 100% ideal for me. I am used to it now, but it bothered me a bit initially.
      All in all, it was near perfectly setup out of the box and the guitar is absolutely fantastic. I love the neck and the slanted frets and the quality + variety of sounds. I wanted a headless that wasnt an HH (already have a headless HH guitar) for those clean/isolated sound and this exceeded my expectations.

      Comparing the two dude, I love both. I play the 6 slightly more because I use it to teach etc. but I’d happily pick up either.

    Just received my Q52-lbm, so the double humbucker blue one. First impressions there is a slight QC problem (or maybe was it transportation) a small piece of paint is missing around the 5 way selector, it is barely noticeable but it is there. Otherwise sounds great, playing it is much easier than my old SG chinese copy and I still dig the look in person. One thing bothers me a bit though the volume knob is too close to the bridge and I find it much harder to palm mute on the high e than it was on my old guitar.

    • @JackTaylorGuitars
      @JackTaylorGuitars  2 года назад +1

      I’m glad you like it overall man but it’s a shame you’ve seen a QC issue! Finish missing around the selector is likely from the factory I would have thought but as long as it doesn’t bother you then I guess it’s not the worst thing!
      The palm muting thing is valid though for sure. I haven’t had any issues myself but the volume knob is close to the bridge. I guess it’s just due to the guitar’s body size.
      I hope you enjoy it from here though dude!

      About the position of the volume knob, IMHO it's a matter of habit to lear who to deal with it in palm muting.

    Hey Jack, I just got my Q54 and the set up is very bad. Would please consider make a video on how properly set up the guitar. I know there are bunch of video here on how to do that, but I haven’t found one for the set of the Q Series. Would help me and others new player a lot. Awesome video btw.

    • @JackTaylorGuitars

      Hey man, congratulations on the new guitar! I’m sorry to hear about the bed set up though. I’d love to make a video dude but, unfortunately, I don’t have the guitar anymore. I had to really skim down my collection because I’m having my first kid soon. You know how life is 😂
      It’s really close to setting up a regular strat though. The saddles work pretty much the same and the truss rod is just at the bottom. If you’re comfortable making those adjustments yourself then go for it! If not dude, see if you can get it in for a setup at a store. It’ll be worth it!
      Sorry I can’t make the video for you though mate. I really appreciate you checking this one out though. I still think the guitar is awesome. Maybe when I don’t have to buy nappies in the future I’ll pick another one up 😁

  • @AlwayzTired
    @AlwayzTired Год назад +1

    PS: I know you mentioned improved tuning stability, but it seems like most tuning issues come from the nut, and it looks like the nuts on these are plastic and prone to binding. You mentioning that in the 7 string review and this one have me intrigued.

    • @JackTaylorGuitars
      @JackTaylorGuitars  Год назад +2

      Yeah man, you’re totally right. The nuts are plastic on these but they get away with it because the string barely moves past the nut, if at all which is awesome. A plastic nut might cause issues on a normal headstock because the string movement happens behind it but on these all the movement is at the other side. The nut is basically there just to keep the strings in place. Long winded answer but I hope it helps 🤘

    • @AlwayzTired
      @AlwayzTired Год назад +1

      Thanks for the reply, dude. Appreciate the feedback. Have you put any heavier string on it and dropped it down at all? I know you have a 7, so that may not be a thing you want to do with your 6.

    • @JackTaylorGuitars
      @JackTaylorGuitars  Год назад +1

      No problem man, I’m always down to talk about this stuff! I never did tune that guitar down, the heaviest gauge I had in it was 10s. I wouldn’t have any concerns going to drop C at all and think it could probably handle drop B as well!

      Thanks for the comment mate! I’m assuming you’re talking about the Legator Ghosts which are a little cheaper than the Q series? They look dope honestly but I’ve never played one. That said, I think I like the finishes on the Legators more at the very least. I’d need to play one though.

      @@JackTaylorGuitars I agree. I have found the quality of Ibanez guitars has become unpredictable. I also feel like the brand just doesn't bring that sizzle like they once did. However, I will give them credit becasue they still try to bring things to the table that other manufacturers won't do. This headless idea was perfect because I've always wanted one, but I didn'tt want to pay $3000 for it.

    Are they selling boatloads?
    I’ve yet to see anyone with one.
    I like the idea personally. I think they are an affordable entry to headless guitars if that’s something you’re interested in.
    When I spoke to Guitar Guitar just before they came out, they had only ordered a handful of these guitars. Less than 10 overall I think.
    I wanted to try one until I heard the necks were almost identical to the Ibanez AZ neck which I’m not a fan of.
    I’d love a headless RG style guitar from Ibanez with that version of the wizard neck.

    • @JackTaylorGuitars

      Admittedly, the ‘boatloads’ was partially an excuse to use a Suez Canal meme but, relatively speaking, every stockist including Guitar Guitar sold out quickly and immediately ordered more according to the folks I spoke to.

    Personally I've had an awful experience with the quality control. The first one was horrendous, it had paint splatters on the fretboard, a wide scratch on the neck and chips in the paint. I got my second one yesterday as a replacement and although it is better it still has 3 quite large black blemishes on the lower horn and body (which is pretty hard to miss on the white Ichika signature model) makes me want to return this one too and buy a different guitar all together.
