    About the gig bag. I spent $1,200 on an Ibanez a few years ago and it did not ship with a gig bag. Just thin cardboard and Styrofoam. It managed to survive shipping through FedEx Ground.

    • @Shredberry

      How long ago was that? When I worked at a guitar center in 2015 many of the guitars over $1000 comes in a gig bag or case. Ofc not all. Nowadays unless its $1500+ you just get the styrofoam lol my Charvel Pro Mod DK24 is $1200 too and it came just in a box :/ I bought it in 2021 or so.

    1) Although wood has no any meaning in sound of electric guitar, "top" does not equal "veneer" - so he is right, that is just a lie.
    2) QC - I have ordered 4 Ibz guitars this year and returned 3 of them because of issues in all the possible places. Guitars for half the price do not even have such amount of issues that Indo-made Ibzs have. Finishing/painting issues, rusty and scratched frets, wood knots on the fretboard, neck pocket cracks, broken electronics, broken screws and a bunch of other problems. That has almost nothing to do with shipping, that's just an absent quality control for Indo-made guitars for Ibanez. I love their guitars, but quality is more like a poo these days.

    • @Shredberry
      @Shredberry  11 месяцев назад

      Thank you for the comment! That’s definitely fair arguments. If we remove any talk of tone, top and veneer still aren’t the same. It’s like selling a car with carbon fiber hood but it’s just a carbon fiber wrapping (if that’s a thing? I’m not a car guy lol). As far as QC I guess I can’t speak too much because I haven’t buy enough to see it personally. I totally believe the decline in QC over the years but I maintain that’s not a flaw of a model. To me that’s a problem with the brand as a whole. “Honda always ships their cars with problems”. That’s not a problem with the Civic but Honda as a whole. Of course if 6 out 10 Civic people buy have a coolant leak problem than hell yea that’s a Civic problem. Cheers!

    Great video, I have the ichi10 model and I loooove it. I think the first point about the maple top still stands. Even tho obviously it doesn't effect the tone it's still a bit shady that they said it was a top when it was just a veneer.

    • @Shredberry
      @Shredberry  Год назад

      Thank you so much! 🙏🏽 I see your point. Top wood has traditionally been made a certain way so it’s definitely fair to expect it to be something when you see it being marketed. To me personally, top wood in electric guitar has always been for aesthetic (despite the marketing), so as long as the appearance is there, I’m satisfied lol

    Young friend, the QX54 sucks but I have other reasons to mention than the Orion guy - after using it on gigs for a while: 1) on 6 strings I cant see the practicality of slanted frets 2) the trendy roasted maple tends to crack on these Indonesian made ones 3) because of this silly roasted maple fashion, the markers CANNOT be seen at dim light. 4) the jack out is on/in/at the worst location, bugs your lap when seated 5) there were producing mistakes on mine outside of the cracked fretboard: over chiseled neck, serious quality problem your palm literally go downhill on the neck's back at the upper frets area. 6) terrible, dark sounding pups, following this insane overwinding trend for the higher outputs. What else?

    Do they even make a hard case for the QX54QM? I just picked one up and would love to get a hard case for it. It looks similar to an S So I'm guessing it'll fit in one of their molded cases... but I'd like something that fits the Quest model specifically.

    I have to admit I'm disappointed. You didn't review the guitar, as much as you reviewed someone else's review.
    I like Ibanez as a brand too, but I can't condone the flaws he found, especially at this price point. That doesn't mean I won't buy the Guitar. It means I'll buy the guitar and make at least some of the fixes that he detailed. I don't think you're doing Ibanez a favor giving them a pass on these flaws. They need honest feedback to ensure they maintain the reputation they have for quality guitars. And online shoppers need "nitpicky" reviews like his when they can't make it to a shop to hold one in their hands.

    • @Shredberry
      @Shredberry  Год назад +1

      Hey kentGrey! Thanks for the thoughtful comment! No I didn't review the guitar as much because there are plenty of reviews on the exact model so I thought instead of reiterating basically what everyone had already said, I would address some of the less talked about areas which is the critical points that Bill had made. Almost all of the reviews on this guitar have been either positive and/or neutral so I did appreciate Bill's angle and thought it'll be more interesting to respond to his gripes. Also, I appreciate you sharing the perspective of being "nitpicky" when doing reviews because I certainly did not think from that angle. Thanks for stopping by! Cheers!

      agree. I ordered first the sea foam or what color. Fretboard arrived cracked. Change. 2nd was cracked too. Change. No more Sea foam. Ok, upgrade to this qx54 QM. serious flaw on neck: unevenly chiseled profile! change. 4th Ibby comes, fretboard cracked again. Got seriously fed up, shop did not want to help any more. I wrote t Ibby headquarter, after some emails they ended up sending me another one. It was better, only aesthetic problem was with the thin veneer: it is faded or blur some places, not as nice as on the previous one. Anyways. I have 2 of them now, but none of them is in use recently. I have better, custom made headlesses with trem block to play. And of course, for the fragment of the Ibby's price. ruclips.net/video/cSZRdmT_Xzo/видео.html

    great video! If you had to choose between this guitar and the charvel in the back, which would you choose?

    • @Shredberry
      @Shredberry  Год назад

      Oooof that's a REALLY tough choice. They are for very different purposes for me so it's like picking between a bicycle and a motorcycle. The headless has the lightweight, easy to travel form factor and the Charvel has the whammy bar... I'm currently moving so I only kept the Quest with me in person since it's much easier to travel with it. But if an alien were to put a laser incinerator gun in my face and make me pick one for regular playing purposes, I will have to say the Charvel. a) The Charvel has whammy bar. Although I don't use it extensively, it's still a great addition for adding stylization. Especially for adding vibrato to chords b) While I love the pickups on the Quest, it has more of specialized tone. IDK how to describe it but the Charvel's tone is a lot more "generic" if that makes any sense lol

    In short.... He's just nitpicking very small problems and calls it sucks after those very small problems.
    1. Veneer or top. Is it really an issue? there are other companies that uses maple veneers and I've never heard complaints about it.
    2. Finish issues? Those blemishes can happen on shipping. If he would blame the company's QC because of it, it do sounds petty for me.
    3. Tone knob issue? Can be fixed very easy. Wtf
    4. Headstock? Difficult to cut the excess strings? Use other tools you snowflake
    5. Gigbag issue? Then buy a better one. If you can spend a $1000 guitar surely you can spend on a better gigbag right?
    Wtf is happening to modern guitarists nowadays. It's getting filled with snowflakes

      @soyborne.bornmadeandundone1342 Месяц назад

      Brainless comment that's a lil too corpo dikrider for me...
      1... Yes guy, it is a issue. Thinner wood = more likely to warp or ding. Plus less acoustic resonance. And before you "TONE WOOD FOR ELECTRICS IS A MYTH!" people jump up my arse about it, yes it doesn't matter really with medium or high volume but with low volume or acoustically it does matter soo... It does kind of matter. Lol what? Are we against bonus features now? If you're going to sit there and claim my resonant chambered high quality wood sounds worse acoustically than some punk azz squire, then you're just high lol.
      2... Did you even see the damage on his model? Lol I can understand a ding mayyyybe happening during shipping on the outter edged but how tf did a ding happen in that spot? And so what? The guitar makers got no skin in the game when it comes to shipping it to you. No that's also their responsibility largely. If my worker screws you over, it's not just on my worker guy it's on me as well.
      3... Lol not necessarily guy. Sometimes them knobs wont come off easy and require you to be very forceful. Might slip and damage the guitar even further. It's okay for companies to put players in that situation? Come on lol.
      4... Yeah I agree with you on this one. Red handle linemans. Everyone should own a pair. Greatest metal cutting clippers out there. Perfect solution to his gripe. But he does make a point I wanna bring up. Guitars that have the string ends just sticking out to poke you? That suuux lol. I prefer locking or vintage style tuners for this reason... So the guitar still sucks in this regard lolz. You can twist it until it breaks off clean naturally but that's not good for the tuner slots. Don't do it a lot is all I'm saying...
      5... Sorry but this is bull crap. Cases are much nicer and better for protecting the guitar. They just cost way more so these corpoz cheaped out on us that's all. 25 dollar sack vs a hard case that will last 100 years that costs like 150 or 200 haha. We used to get better deals on regular azz american standard strats back in the day. Your solution to his legit gripe is spend more money...... Got it...
      This comment is mostly dumb bro. Delete it lol. Snowflake.

      Still nice to have a electric that's really resonant.
      1... It's usually lighter.
      2... Low volume or just acoustically playing it is noticeably louder. My chambered f hole strats are really fun to play unplugged. Solid body strats? Meh... Not so much.
      3... Some wood dings easy like poplar and basswood vs ash or alder that lasts longer over time. You're gunna want some decent wood yo.
      But sure, expecting a massive difference is silly. Even among acoustics looking for a massive diff is silly lol.
