Thank you so much for this video. I am going to make the black and white as a baby blanket for our 10th grandchild who is due in March 2017. We had a cousin pass away recently and she requested that people donate to 3 charities that she was devoted to, one of which is Susan G. Komen, so I am going to make this is pink and white and buy awareness ribbon brooches to raise money for Susan G. Komen Foundation. I just wanted you to know you are part of this effort because you give me so many ideas. I love your videos and you are a wonderful instructor.

Great beginner video. Very detailed. If you want to save quite a bit of yarn all you need to do is, at the end of the row, cut about a 6” length of the 1st yarn that you’re about to drop and crochet that “straggler” piece, along with the non working end of the new color, in just like it shows here, until they’re both hidden, then just add that 1st color on again at the end of the row. Then, again, do the same with those 2 non working ends. All your ends are automatically woven in and you don’t have to carry the nonshowing color along.

I've been working on a blanket using this exact same pattern ... but it was called a puff stitch. I used one skein of color, when changed to another color, using a full skein, repeated the first skein of color, repeated the second color, and will finish with the first skein again, then border it. I did not know I was doing the houndstooth design. Just a word of advice, really make sure you aren't accidentally doing a SC or DC twice in a row or whatever. I now have the honor of having to 'fudge' my way through the blanket cause I do have double (and sometimes triple) of the same stitch in a row. Go figure. But it's hard to notice since it is hidden in a variegated color or a solid color. And also my sides (ends) are flaring out a bit for some reason. But nothing horrible and can be 'fixed' with a border. Will definitely do the alternating color design for a shawl next!

I would like to try and make this shawl in a lighter yarn so I was wondering if you can give me the measurements of the shawl in inches (length and width.) I would like for it to come out the same size as the one you did. Thank you in advance for your help. from Ecuador

Doesn't this waste a tremendous amount of yarn if you are always working over and carrying the other yarn that you are not crocheting with? It's nice to not have to weave in ends with each row but I would think this is very wasteful. I will be making this. Thanks for the pattern.

I guess it does waste yarn, but....I love the idea of not having to weave in all those ends! And it makes the shawl a bit bulkier too, making it a bit warmer. Win Win for me!! Thanks for the pattern, I will be making this.!!
