Yeah Kevin, The mic isn't catching your voice very well... Having to really crank the speaker volume up to hear you... But WOW! A lot of info to process... Thanks for your efforts to get all this to the public.
this was filmed YEARS ago....portable mics werent affordable then. Tech has changed a lot since. Youre welcome. Check our later stuff....you can hear those. LOL
love the video, really helped me with my project,.Question, once you remove old transmission what do you use to clean the inside of case with before installing new cassette? and also how do you remove countershaft bearing? cant find a video anyplace showing that, Iam hoping no one posted it because it is so easy. Thanks again.
Great video. Man I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experience with us. I know it takes time and money to make these videos, and I for one gain some much from them. Thank You🤘🏼
Hi Kevin Your videos are very well done. I have a 2009 Street Glide that needs a main drive gear bearing. Getting ready to do the installation within a week or so. The pullers and pusher tools you used. Not sure who makes them, can you recommend a fair priced puller/pusher. I'm not sure if I'll have to replace the main drive gear and main transmission shaft. It depends on my findings with ware marks from the needle bearings on the main shaft. The cost of some of these tools are steep, but I'm still saving if I bring it to Harley Davidson. It appears that a lot of folks are pointing their fingers at the automatic primary chain adjusters. I'm not sure I agree with that, I feel it's a bearing manufacturing problem. Then again I don't work on motorcycles every day. I've worked on the big trucks for over 30 years. I've witnessed failures just due to drivers. If you can bring light to my concerns. I would really appreciate it. Thanking you in advance Anthony C
Getting that (2-1/4") main shaft nut off must have took more than "just a little heat." I've broken three 1/2" breaker bars trying to get that damn thing off. It won't budge!
Ģreat video, thanks for that, could you post info on the bearing race puller tool to save me some guess work in advance, hopefully my race hasnt drifred inboard which Ive heard can happen, thanks again
Good video! The DD7 kit now comes with a counter shaft needle bearing. Uhh,,, pressed on the inner race to install the MDG bearing? I know it goes in easy, but that's still a no no.
Hi Kevin, great video, was just wanting to know if you replace the shifter lever pawl sleeve in trans case while you are doing this procedure? my 2012 FLTRX shaft seal won't last. thanks jim
Hi! I'm from Poland . I have Electra Glide 1450 Twin Cam 88, 2001 year. I have to unscrew the nut (3.53 on this video). In my model is right hand thread or left hand thread????????
when I gas third it clatered cla led and freaked me out,I took it to my wrench,he checked out all gears, clean and smooth,so he replaced a few forks excetra now its worse what do I do, my guy is one of the best but I just can't afford gear quessing
+Prime Time I understand completely. I have honestly never had a problem with the dd7. Sounds as if it's not completely engaged or possibly the main drive gear isn't all the way in. When did you buy it? Where do you live?
+Prime Time it was in? So it was used when installed? Regardless, That's a DD6...different setup from the DD7 entirely but I've installed countless ones over the years. Drum setup and endplay in the pillow blocks can be a bit tricky. Fork placement can be a bit confusing too. Are you anywhere near Atlanta?
i have some questions regarding pressing out that last gear...what does the plate look like you have on the other side? i may be installing the removal tool wrong but when i use the play i have and the threaded bolt i have it doenst still out as much passed the gear as it does when you do it..i got my dd7 almost two years ago and because of work and some personal issue havent been able to get it done till now im hoping there wasnt some update i wasnt aware of any help would be gerat
+Kevin Baxter im not sure how to send them to you on here can i have an email to send them to? Thanks alot for the speedy response its really appreciated its just took me awhile to get the pics taking out the stock sox speed has been a project from hell because im trying undo all the crazy things the tech before me did
My question exactly! Why is the other side of the race removal tool is such a secret? I've looked at other videos and they don't show it either! Harley charges way to much for one time use for most of us. I got a great certified tool maker in my area that charges a fraction of the cost. ( usually he will just make me the one part of the tool and leaves the rest up to me to cobble together) just like the inner primary race remover, it's $230+ at Harley but he made the whole tool for less than $100 and he bought it back since I only used it once!
Because most of the good trans oils are red ... like Redline Heavy Shockproof and I think Spectro 6-speed Heavy- Duty Platinum is too. They are both better for your trans and clings to the gears better with much better shear characteristics UNLIKE the Syn 3 motor oil HD tells you to use.
+Prime Time well, it's one of those sorta problems that could be caused by many things. If I knew, I'd be happy to tell you but without looking at it, kinda throwing darts in the dark. Ever make it to Atlanta? A large percentage of our business comes from other states and countries.
kerusina3 thank you for the feedback. I agree but in reverse. My camera audio is too soft and terrible. I'll be working on addressing audio over the coming weeks. I appreciate you watching.

Really enjoyed this. never messed with the trans on newer bikes. just old 4 speeds in shovel heads. Thanks.
Thank you sir!
Notice the Red Line Gear Shock lube, good stuff! Great video my Brother 🙏

Kevin I have a 2002 fxdl the transmisson drive pulley is left hand or right hand thread. I see the one in this vid is r/h. thanks Gray
Great video. Man I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experience with us. I know it takes time and money to make these videos, and I for one gain some much from them. Thank You🤘🏼
Thanks for the kind words.
Very informative videos, thanks!
I need to swap the drive pulley and belt on my '97 heritage. Will the pulley come off without removing the race?
Hi Kevin

Stock primary auto tensioner is cause. Its garbage and a baited hook for service work. Go hydraulic , their great.
Getting that (2-1/4") main shaft nut off must have took more than "just a little heat." I've broken three 1/2" breaker bars trying to get that damn thing off. It won't budge!
I have watched both these videos twice now. Man I am glad your installing my Baker not me lol.
LOL. Thank you sir!

+Jimmy Wagner only if it has excessive clearance which has been very rare. Thanks for watching.
Thank you
Why a 7 speed if 7 is 1to1 like the 6 ? Thanks from AU
Hi! I'm from Poland

Left hand thread.
@@KevinBaxter Thank you.
Service manual.
Hi. Great Video. I have a question. Where can I buy the extractor tool of inner race?
grinding disc it (carefully)
Could you post a link for the specialty tools needs for the transmission ?
www.georges-garage.com/ As for george. tell him i sent ya. he will guide you along.
great video
Thanks Elijah.
What is your customer service experience with Baker?
My question is, do you have a list of tools required to make this swap? Been looking at one of these since I bought a Low Rider S.
Could you post the names of the pullers used for the bearings?
Where do you get your specialty tools from? Thanks
Most of them from www.georges-garage.com/. Ask for George, tell him Kevin from Pro Twin sent you.
Thank you very much
I have between .030 to .050 side play...this would be considered excessive? so I should just replace everything?
thanks jim
+Jimmy Wagner that's a little excessive. You'd probably be OK but do it once ya know?
I wonder how many hours it takes to install a Baker transmission.
+1Stopvocalshopping Depends on your skill level of course. I can do one in about 5 hours depending on exhaust and the bike.
when I gas third it clatered cla led and freaked me out,I took it to my wrench,he checked out all gears, clean and smooth,so he replaced a few forks excetra now its worse what do I do, my guy is one of the best but I just can't afford gear quessing

not sure it was in a 06 RoadKing, and it says Baker DirectDrive Sixspeed on top of plate
+Prime Time it was in? So it was used when installed? Regardless, That's a DD6...different setup from the DD7 entirely but I've installed countless ones over the years. Great content but your killing us with the sound. get a good batt powered mic to pick up the tech's voice.
i have some questions regarding pressing out that last gear...what does the plate look like you have on the other side? i may be installing the removal tool wrong but when i use the play i have and the threaded bolt i have it doenst still out as much passed the gear as it does when you do it..i got my dd7 almost two years ago and because of work and some personal issue havent been able to get it done till now im hoping there wasnt some update i wasnt aware of any help would be gerat

+Arturo Meuniot heck Yea man. You won't regret it. Be sure to click the link in the description of the first video to get a discount.
+Kevin Baxter thank you.
Turn up the volume, please I can't hear you and my hearing is not that good. Could you remake the video and turn up the gain on the sound?
I'm still saving if I don't bring it to Harley Davidson. I'd rather not bring it there at all
Microphone check 1- 2 1- 2!
I did that video years ago...didn't have a mic at the time. Problem solved though. Thanks for watching.
Why is the fluid red!?!?!?
Which are you referring to...primary or trans? Some fluids are red depending on type, manufacturer, etc
Transmission fluid, why is it red.
Speak up...I can barely hear you....
I'm about deaf, and I thought it was just me..
fort Lauderdale Florida
+Prime Time well, it's one of those sorta problems that could be caused by many things. If I knew, I'd be happy to tell you but without looking at it, kinda throwing darts in the dark. Ever make it to Atlanta? A large percentage of our business comes from other states and countries.
nice video but intro music is too loud
kerusina3 thank you for the feedback. I agree but in reverse. My camera audio is too soft and terrible. I'll be working on addressing audio over the coming weeks. I appreciate you watching.
Poor sound quality :-(
filmed YEARS ago....mics have improved tremendously.
This and the drive belt is the reason I want out of my ultra classic. Stupid design!
Get a microphone...
