This is still one of Jon's best villian covers. And it's not just his vocals, he's an amazing song writer and producer.
And the fact, that I'd be even better, if he'd do a remake (like he did with "Shiny" just now or "Be Prepared" some time ago - another favorite) it would be even better. I hope he'll do it at some point.

    • @nereol9165
      @nereol9165 2 года назад +3

Oh and suggestions for going down the Jon rabbit hole, besides remastered "Shiny" and "Be Prepared":
      - Playing With The Big Boys (feat Caleb Hyles. My favorite villian duo. Also very theatrical. Perhaps the first time we've heard Caleb's goblin voice, as Jon andthe Twitch chat have come to call it. 😈)
      - What Could Have Been / Arcane (for all the feels! 😭)
      - Mortal Reminder / Pentakill / (no autotune or pitch correction, just reverb and compression, and only one vocal layer for most parts or maybe even the whole song. So it's perfect for reactions.)
      - The Dragonborn Comes / Skyrim (2021 version, under 2 minutes. Was supposed to be kinda a cappella - but then Jon started grabbing all the random instruments in his studio during the twitch stream he recorded this, ending with a hurdy gurdy 😅)

Jonathon Young is a beast in disguise. I was never too much into metal growing up, just casually heard some on the radio but that was it. But now that I’m enthralled with the RUclips music world, I’ve found his channel and I love everything he does, and would love to see you break down more of his content. :)

This is my absolute favorit cover of Hellfire, so I'm so glad you did this first time reaction and analysis, and I really think that you should also watch his cover of Bells of Notre Dame, those two songs kind of go together.

Some favourites of mine is Bells of Notre Dame, and Prince of Egypt covers he does with Caleb Hyles. For something silly you can also compare how he did this one versus how he did it in a comedy variation with twisted translations (Also Be prepared he did normal and with twisted translations). Also for comedy Final Countdown will probably make you giggle with the music video he shows off a lot of range too.

If you want to react to more metal, I implore you to check out Starset. They're more of a 'cinematic rock/metal' group with a fictional backstory. I'd recommend starting with 'My Demons' or 'Monster', their most well-known songs. Definitely check out their cover of Led Zeppelin's 'Kashmir', as well as their other more metal-focused songs like 'Telekinetic', 'Bringing It Down 2.0' or 'Something Wicked'.
Meanwhile, if you want a laugh, check out Jonathan Young's metal cover of 'Barbie Girl'. You don't have to react to it, but it's a hilarious cover and video.

More Jonathan Young would of course be welcome. And if you like the combination of musical theater with metal, variation in the music and many really good singers, you might enjoy Ayreon. The Day that the World Breaks Down might be a good introduction. It is the first track of the album The Source and is basicallly the overture to the story of the album and introduces all 11 singers. I will not spoil too much, but it would be interesting to see what your take on it is. Here is the link to the video: ruclips.net/video/oFuMKdrzPqU/видео.html

Without even trying to look, I've seen someone else recommend the Bells of Notre Dame with Caleb. But I'm still saying my piece: That song is my absolute favourite thing he's done (which I've seen). (Similarly, it's my favourite thing Voctave has done, too. So, the song itself is just baller.) But, both of those covers are better than the original, in my opinion. Yas!

Did I hear somewhere that Jonathan wasn’t formally trained? This is so impressive, either way. There’s something really compelling about his voice. It’s also a LOT of fun watching YOU get into the story-your facial expressions-I can see you feeling the part. And yes-I’m not a huge metal fan, but I admire the heck out of Jonathan and really enjoyed this reaction, so more like this would be great.
And if you decide to branch off Jonathan, I’d love to see you do Jinjer’s Pisces Live Session. If you haven’t seen it yet, DO NOT DO ANY RESEARCH-I really want to see your raw reaction. It’ll be fire! Even if you’re familiar with the piece, it’ll be interesting to hear your analysis.
Also, I’m with Christina-hope you plan to do an analysis of Bones, because I really want to hear about how it came together. That is a stellar piece of music.

Late to the party so doubt you will see this now but it's a yes from me to more JY covers! He has so many great covers (Disney and others) and originals to choose from.
His cover of "Iris" is great, so is "My Heart Will Go On" (the Titanic theme), "Sound Of Silence", "Don't Fear The Reaper" with Violet Orlandi is outstanding! That last one is very different JY! Find it on her channel.
He's collaborated with Malinda a while back on 3 numbers from Phantom Of The Opera. Also working with her, he has appeared on her "Twisted Translation" channel - the version of "Hellfire" on there is hilarious!!
He seems to be concentrating a bit more on originals now, which is great. Of his originals, "Wolf Within", "Old Money", "Eye Of The Storm", "Damage Done".
I guess basically I'm saying, please react to ANYTHING of his!! 🤣

Great analysis! I don’t listen to Jonathan all that much (except for Centuries of course) but I love watching you break down music in general. 😁 Also congrats on your stairwell cover blowing up on instagram and your huge spike in followers over there! 🤯 Definitely deserve it!

J Young is wonderful. Most of his Disney stuff is awesome, but I also particularly enjoyed his recent version of How Far Il Go! He had done it before but changed the lyrics slightly (can’t recall if he sang it from 3rd person about “her” or if he changed it to fit a male lead?) but now he proudly sings about being the perfect daughter 😆❤️ would love to hear your analysis of that, though you’ve already watched it once!

I would recommend more J Young. I would check out his Pokemon cover with Jason Paige or even his Phantom of the Opera cover.

I'm just going to add a nonsense comment here (yes I love your reactions for all the reasons mentioned by others) :D I love your talking voice, it's just so low and smooth :D

A funny comment when it comes to dictation as an effect, I've discovered a couple of japanese singers/song makers who have actually learned to pronounce a proper rolling R (which they don't normally have). That works brilliantly and has gotten them quite a few fans from abroad
