I never understand when people say, "just voices" when talking about Pentatonix's music. With these talented people, voices are all they need.

Amazing how BRILLIANT they were even from the get-go. This was the first video I ever saw of them right after it first came out. Stupidly I didn’t really continue to follow what they were doing until The Prayer came out in 2021. Almost a decade without those golden voices…what was I thinking??

Avi Kaplan, the bass, is the only member who's left. After leaving the group in September 2017, he took time off (partly because of a clause in his separation agreement that kept him from releasing his own music for almost 2 years) and released his first original piece in March 2019 - "Change on the Rise" - a powerful song in which he sang all parts and sounds other than some organ and tambourine in the bridge. It's been featured in a few TV shows. For a more recent example of his work, here's the live studio version of his 2022 original song "I'm Only Getting Started", done at Sunset Sound in LA with some of that area's best studio musicians backing him. The most only member change in the thirteen year history is at the bass position. Avi was bass from 2011 through most of 2017 while Matt was bass since then. Kirstie and Mitch change their looks often so some reactors don’t recognize them.
