10:19 Emma was talking about “Navajo National Monument”, but the picture shown 10:23 is actually “Monument Valley”. These are two different places, about 60 miles apart. Monument Valley is on the border of AZ and UT, whereas Navajo National Monument is further southwest, towards Grand Canyon. I drove thru Monument Valley many yeas ago, in mid 1980s. Yes, the view was spectacular, especially we were there shortly before sunset, the light was gorgeous. However, all the roads were unpaved, the red dust stirred up by our car and the car in front of us was so thick, basically blocked the view. We had to pull to the side, waited for all cars to pass, then waited some more for the dust to settle down, before we could take pictures.
Welcome to Arizona! This is my state, born and raised and still live here. Flash floods are deadly. This storm you are running from took the lives of 3 children. they only just found the body of the 3rd child the other day, so sad. They are deadly because they come from nowhere. It can be raining 50 even 100+ miles away and it's bone dry where you are and then suddenly a wall of water will overtake you and everything around you. If you feel so inclined, please look up videos of flash floods, they are powerful events. This area is a land of extremes, extremely hot and extremely cold. Snow is rare in some areas, not so rare in other areas. It gets plenty cold enough for snow, it's just that we lack the necessary moisture for it. In my are especially as we live at the foot of Mt. Graham. The mountain takes most of the rain/snow and leaves little for us. Sometimes though, if we are lucky, usually once or twice a decade, it will snow enough to stick. last year was one of these times where it snowed a foot, and the town shut down. the last snow of that magnitude was over 10 years ago.
Spectacular scenery and fun video to watch - but oh my God the anxiety of seeing you sitting on the edge Emma! My worst nightmare! ;-) Have you googled it? Scary! ;-)
The Navajo National Monument is a cool stop, BUT the picture you showed was of Monument Valley, about 50 miles from there, which is spectacular. Hope you made it through there because that area is amazing.
I’m sorry I didn’t read through all your comments but I tried. Please please please go back to Zion and hike Angeles Landing. It is the most spectacular hike you will ever do. I’ve recently found your channel and am newly obsessed. ( not crazy just a sweet old lady that has a passion for travel, hiking camping and adore seeing it virtually via you videos) . If you ever head to LA again I have a bunch of great suggestions for you to see a different side of crazy LA the nature here, right in LA is incredible.
We went to see the Navajo National Monument, the pictures you showed were from Monument Valley which is on the 163 between Mexican Hat and Kayenta. We travelled through going from Bluff to Flagstaff and it was spectacular. They have filmed many western movies there! I'm currently uploading our day by day videos but from September, haven't yet edited this one though 😁 xxx
Sorry that we were late watching! The sandstone caves are amazing! We get squeamish just watching people close to the edge of a massive cliff. More railings please!!!
"I didn't realize it snowed in the desert" - Two times I got seriously snowed in while traveling was in Arizona, around Flagstaff. It sits at the elevation of 6,900 ft (2,100 m).
⭐⭐⭐⭐ What an amazing experience it must be to trek thru these incredible landscapes. You both seem to have a great appreciation for the incredible uniqueness of the desert southwest as we call it. I live in the Pacific northwest of the US and it would amaze you at how different the coastal rain-forest are just two states away. We Americans are indeed fortunate to live among such diversity within our own borders.⭐⭐⭐⭐
Awww! Thanks so much for the shoutout guys! Just getting around to watching this because I’m on my own little travel adventure (Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, & Poland!) Too bad you didn’t get to see monument valley, but there is a dirt road route and a non-dirt road route but it is a bit confusing, and I’ve only visited coming from the east (from Colorado) rather than from the west like you were doing. Anyway, glad you got to see horseshoe bend and antelope canyon!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR as well!!!!!!!!
There are a few places in Arizona I wanted to go for many years, but still have not made there yet. Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend and Sedona are on top of the list. I have seen many beautiful pictures of Antelope Canyon, but your video around 2:35 definitely beats all the still photos.
Hey! I love ravens and all kinds of crows! Antelope Canyon is stunning!! But seeing you so close to the edge at Horseshoe...made my stomach do flip flops! I am loving your American tour. :)
Omg. You both need to contact an editor. Your photos are book worthy. Please go that route. There are millions of people who enjoy nature's, with your anecdotes it would be brilliant. Oh, beautiful vlog.
This road trip is just amazing you two! I’m happy you overcame your fear Alex, sometimes we just have to make better memories 😊 Have fun! and thanks for all the inspiration you give us.
Hello, Beans, how do you get along with the fact that sometimes the steering wheel is on the right side and then again on the left ? Hallo, Beans, wie kommt ihr damit klar, dass mal das Lenkrad auf der rechte Seite und dann wieder auf der linken ist ?
Well I can't believe that the tours have forced them to put steps and railings in nature. Saw all that before there were so many people. Back in the 70's when I was in my early 20's there was no one in any of those canyons or parks. You could go do without reservations, and you didn't have to pay a dime to see it. It was just wild and open. Thank goodness I saw it before all of the people showed up.
people fall off those cliff and die, every year. The sand slips benighted you feet and it's over with. You just don't know when your going to trip or you wouldn't trip in the first place. P.S. don't you have a map? bad idea not having a map.
You see now why most Americans never leave our own country? The country is so vast, and so ecosystem diverse, that there's really no reason to leave. You can spend a lifetime traveling America and never see it all.

Wow, that's so sad to hear that.. since visiting we have seen videos of flash floods and they look truly terrifying
I live in Salt Lake City and I LOVE southern Utah. It speaks to your soul.
I've watched this a few time and then knowing you two are having a baby I see how much Al truly loves you and how you love each other!!
those sandstone canyons are SOOOOO gorgeous. thank you!

Ravens are AMAZING, stunning and very intelligent animals ......

Haha yeah, we mixed those 2 places up! Didn't make it this time.. that's an excuse to come back again in the future!

At 12:14 in the extreme left side is ship rock a sacred Navajo monument..
Flash floods are NO joke!
The Grand Canyon is also created by water. The same river that runs thru the Horseshoe Bend....the mighty Colorado River.

Flash floods in the desert are quick and violent events. You were smart to get away.
The hut at the bottom of Horseshoe Bend is a Starbucks. They are all over the US
😂 I knew it!
What a beautiful video!!!😍😍😍
Sorry that we were late watching! The sandstone caves are amazing! We get squeamish just watching people close to the edge of a massive cliff. More railings please!!!
It’s fun to watch people from other countries react to our land. Hope you continue with the US tour and post.

Stunning but views but just watching the drops is giving me jelly legs lol
That snowstorm looks epic! What part of New Mexico are you in?
Albuquerque/Santa Fe but wish we had time to see more.. we will have to come back!!
My only question is Alex on the correct side of the road?
You scared me sitting close to the edge.🤤
the edge looks scary :D

I’m so glad y’all are enjoying my country! I Just wanted to show y’all some love 🥰🥰🥰!
Absolutely loving it here! Thank you! 💛
Now that you are driving, does that mean you will do the dirty deed also? (emptying the tanks)
😂 we've been taking turns with that
Arizona is more than twice the size of England, and it's nowhere near the biggest state (6th)
👍💖
Imo, You should have stayed longer in the Philippines. Your subscribers and exposure would have skyrocketed now.
Anyway, happy holidays :)
