- A nun and a makeup artist get what they wish for.
SISTERS is used with permission from Nicole Emanuele. Learn more at nicoleemanuele.com.
A mysterious nun named Molly and a wistful makeup artist named Dee have achieved exactly what they wished for, yet they find themselves dissatisfied. As they both wait for a bus that will take them to meetings that could change their fates, they discover that they are connected to each other in cosmic ways.
This whimsical comedy -- written by co-star Beth Hoyt and directed by Nicole Emanuele -- begins a narrative premise that sounds like the set-up to a quirky joke: "A nun and a makeup artist wait at a bus stop..." But as the film unfolds in a uniquely charming way, this set-up resembles more a millennial, quirky take on a Zen koan, inviting insight into the mysterious laws of the universe and cosmic connection.
Not much "happens" in terms of plot in the film, but directorial flights of fancy, along with an off-kilter but intriguing sense of visuals, consistently generate intrigue and exert a captivating pull on patient viewers.
The writing captures the singular voice of each character, and their dialogue together has a stylized rhythm, revealing personalities and histories that are brought to life by actors Hoyt and Shoniqua Shandai in a delightful ease and chemistry. We discover their histories, which parallel one another in the same magical-realist way, and how they're both at a crossroads right at the moment they meet.
The real magic, however, is found in the detours that the film takes from the main conversation. Creative, fun and lyrical, these musical interludes are a sensory delight with their lyrical camera movement and bright and optimistic colors.
But these numbers also show both Molly and Dee in literal sync -- a quality of synchronicity that is echoed in the way their conversation overlaps and the similar mannerisms they have. As the characters discover parallels and echoes in one another's lives and personalities, the writing sets up a puzzle of just how much they're connected -- and also how much they may change one another's lives.
It's hard to encapsulate the overall meaning or feeling of SISTERS within a logline or synopsis since so much of its charm comes from a singular, committed voice and vision. In its self-contained reveries, its bright and artful visuals and its unearthing of poetry under the surfaces of ordinary life and people, it resembles the earlier work of Paul Thomas Anderson -- think more PUNCH DRUNK LOVE than PHANTOM THREAD -- and becomes an oddly enchanting fable about connection and abundance. For Molly and Dee, the magic isn't getting what we wish for -- but that we find what we need from one another, bringing us closer together in connection and a strange, mysterious harmony. Кино
The black girl's laugh is everything and the nun has the coolest personality
I never expected to like a story that was sooo wacked, BUT these two actresses really ... sold it with their great chemistry. This film left me feeling good.
They were phenomenal
One hunge
These “sisters” we likeable from the get go. Great little story that was just perfectly enough. I like it when stories can be watched and appreciated with out having to deep dive for the hidden sub plot or equate it to some psychological words of wisdom. I does exactly what is says on the tin. Bravo.
Agree with all of it! lol

“How long have you been a nun?”
“God..I mean- man.” LMFAO
“I wish to be a grea- NONE!”
NUN!
That was so funny
Hahaha!!!! That would have to be the worst reason in the world to have been made a nun! That's not the sort of job you go into and enjoy unless you're REALLY passionate about it! To go into it thanks to a complete fluke would just not be cool!
I hope these two actors became friends in real life. Great story.
We did!!
@@BethInShow Excellent!
@@BethInShow awesome ❣️
This movie made me realize how much I miss meeting new friends just by talking to random people when I went out to do errands. Also, I haven't made a new friend in over a year 😔
Anyways, this was brilliant! Made me wish I were there! And both actresses were so warm and easy going! Nice one!
That sounds just like me!
One of the first two wishes of be a bag which can fullfill her any requirement which wants
Second must be helping people in need
the second was long hair.
What's interesting, was that her bag had everything someone else needed, but it couldn't give her money for rent. It was only for things to be given away to others.
Geez that bag is likes mary poppens bag. Never ending
You gotta love someone who carries around string cheese, champagne, and a puppy!
That has to be one of her wishes . A bag for stuff she wants
Would watch a whole series of these two!
Riiiiiight!
These 2 have awesome onscreen chemistry. They couldn't have cast a better pair.
Yeah I go around everywhere with some bubbly and a puppy - I mean who doesn't? 🍾🥂🐶
Cool cats
@@abinothayyilsanoj4182 thank you ❤😸

@Akshay 004 it's late you should sleep now
@Akshay 004 I don't have all the answers - I think that's just part of the nature of this film - its strange & quirky - just like life itself - and sometimes things just happen - there are no answers
So I cant explain why the hair is so very long...
It seems that at some point the "nun" had 3 wishes - (how - we don't know - again strange, quirky - like life..)
When she went to *use* those wishes a child keep interrupting her - asking for something - so she says *I WISH* - and before she can finish her wish - she responds to the child' demands with *NONE* making her a nun...
To me it sounded like she had already wished for "nothing" (which is what nuns have - nothing - nonworldly possessions) but one of her other wishes *might have been* her to bag to provide anything she wanted or needed - only logical reason why her bag behaves this way..
Hope that helps a little
Just my interpretation of a very strange short with little answers and more questions than answers - again, to me, just like life itself
That was incredibly enjoyable. A perfect antidote to all of the recent distressing events.
I want these two to star iin their own sitcom, or develop a comedy routine. I NEED to see them again
The bottomless pit bag must have been one of the wishes. I approve...lol
Oh wow this is so nice to see. When each other needed something, each one has it.
"Peter Seller" - lol, clever pseudonym
"Richard Buyer!"
i didnt get it
They were so cute when they started dancing.
I watched this again after 5 days, 5 weeks , and 5 months. I still think this is one of my favorites.
I liked the dance. 😂
Never know you may be entertaining angels...this was a great reminder of kindness and openness.
Fascinating! Loved how they were waiting for a bus that was in front of a wall that said “END”.
so do they live in a world where you have three wishes and that’s what you get for the rest of your life? i need answers. i need more of this lol
Hahahahaha, me too, I need to live there..
This is one of the best shorts I've seen on Omeleto. Sweet, funny and oddly touching.
Omg! That was a brilliant piece of storytelling! I don't think I've been so tickled in a very long time! It was enjoyable, and light, and satisfying, and better than all the cat videos out there!
Nobody is talking about how long the hair was.
Her first two wishes were great, maybe one of them was for her hair to grow faster
@@Rwededyet oh cool thinking.
If that was real hair then it should be worth a lot.
@@johnl.7754 yeah . It can donated for making wigs for cancer patients and stuff .
This was one of my favorites, a brilliant concept. Beautifully layered. The dance scene made me want to cry. Already watched it 3 times.
Enjoyed this! Brilliant. I really appreciated how you put two characters together who you’d never ever think would click. Defying boundaries and creating soulful relationships!
I'll be riding high all day from this one! I have a friend like this and we're headed to the beach later! lovely and inspiring film! We can all be this for each other...and for ourselves. We create the mood!
TOTAL & COMPLETE PERFECTION!... Did not want it to end..
This was incredible. Everything was a surprise to me and this wasn’t the normal/ cliche type of film, but very different and enjoyable.
A beautiful concept for a short; beautiful music and two beautiful and talented actors performing beautifully. Well done to all involved... yes, I have been entertained.
Wonderful. Love the chemistry between these two.
This is really a good story. Short yet memorable. Great work!
The cosmetology joke was my favorite 🤓🤣
Shonqua Shandai and Beth Hoyt just click marvelously together in this wacky wonky adventure of the meeting of Souls!
I love it!
I loved this thoroughly enjoyable story. I was fully engaged from the first frame to the last. Very clever writing. Perfect casting. Congratulations!
Champagne & a puppy!
Bigfoot’s sister is gorgeous like
Creative, imaginative, and well-acted. It kept me interested and that should be the goal of every movie, short or long.
This was such a sweet story. I wanted to watch more of it!
Legit what waiting for the bus is like.🤣😭
I would say bravo 🙌🏾!! Well you had me at cosmetologist! Planet 🌎lol too real!
I love how surrealist this is.
Beth Hoyt your acting and writing is immaculate in this. I went ahead and subscribed to you and will go through some of your videos later 👏
Beth is amazing
My favorite episode. Too heartwarming & witty 💕
This was clever and fun and i want more like it
I dont know what i was expecting but this was SO GOOD! Love these actresses
Oh my God, this was great! incredible acting from both actors
Definitely fresh and definitely unique... Most importantly you can feel the warmth...
This was quite a story. Loved it.
The nun reminds me of the redhead in Despicable Me 😂
this is going into my collection of favourite omeleto shorts
Well done! That could have easily been too quirky, but they showed just the right amount of restraint.
Shoniqua Shandai is a beautiful lady, her sweet lovely voice, her acting in this film glows an array of amazing talent. 🍯🍯🥞🥞🖤💛💋💋🌍
This was absolutely fantastic, especially the 70's-style dance scene. LOVE!!!
What a fun little film🙌
Thank You for sharing🙏
And then they became sisters for real, forever!
I loved this one so much! Imagine this being a tv series
Thanks again Mr. ALLEN! LOVED The film!
Oh my gosh!!! I really really liked this. I had a smile on my face the whole time!!🌹🌹🌹🥰🥰🥰
looks like the beginning of a pilot episode...much better than crap on now...extend it ..pitch it ...maybe there is a 4th wish...
Why doesn't anyone ever wish for a lifetime of wishes on the third one?
Why do people always want these little gems to be pilots for series or be spread out to feature-length films!?! This, like basically all other shorts, stand alone perfectly well as they are.
Funny how first time i didnt like this, this time i loved it 🙂 Lots of Love and Gratitude to all envolved 🙂
I need a nun like her
Absolutely LOVE this thank you !
Fantastic, absolutely fantastic! Just what I needed to lift my spirits and smile, while in physical pain. Thank you! 🙏
this was amazing... brilliant! and Beth Hoyt [BethInShow] >>> shes brilliant!!! loved it! thank you!
This is a lovely short story. Well shot and acted. An interesting story, kept me hooked.
This is amazinggg!! Just shows you don't have to have a big budget to make something heart-warming
The song throughout is Chopin scherzo no. 1
A nun that follows horoscopes? "I'm a gemini."
Enjoyed this, love the contrast and surprises. Good Art
Contrast, contrast and surprises makes for good art.
Good Job Nicole and your friends and collaborators. Love, Aunt Joann
muah!
Escapism at its finest. The nun's handbag was not unlike Dr. Who's T.AR.D.I.S., small on the outside yet carries much more on the inside. I also liked how the sister's dancing shadows were show the correct way up.
Brilliant !!! There is a beauty, that is so creative and extraordinary gentle. The love, kindness and peace between them are a genuine treasure. 💗💗💗👑💗💗💗
Phenomenal
Just amazing!!! Made me really smile at home good they bonded
this is soo interesting and funky. Luved it

I LOVED IT!!! Devine Connection
This was spectacular. Like a acid trip almost
That was a lot of fun and uplifting. More of these during these Satanic times.
I love everything about this
This was so random but wholesome
This was cute, quirky & sweet
This was so original & funny!! ❤️❤️❤️
Awww, this was incredibly sweet!
I was literally worried about the puppy in the bag the entire time, till it popped it’s head out of the magical Mary Poppins bag. She kept pulling out all these random things and the only thing I’m wondering is “ok but where’s the puppy?”
so you’re telling me thats not sister eunice
Love it. Nice and simple. 👍
SOOO LOVE THIS!!
Love it! Great story, great acting, wonderful job capturing the gift of a chance encounter with a stranger can be given a chance ❤️
I SO need this to be a tv series!!!!! Pleeeeaseeeee!!!!
Just loved it!!
This was a real gem :-)
When she said that she hv a puppy in that bag i didnt know that she really did hv a puppy in there😂
