After all the struggles during the past championships this was a well deserved win. Hope he has wonderful season in the 100m considering how tight it is in the USA both in the 100m & 200m. Personally I think he has more chances in the 400m.
I'm still a WVN fan -- not that a 5th place finish would change that. I believe he can continue to regain the strength that suddenly escaped him with seventy meters to go here. This is a marked improvement since Tokyo and only his third race of the season.
@@TJ-xq6fj he destroyed his career by playing Rugby ( actually Van niekerk is the cousin of Rugby star and 2019 world cup final try scorer Chelsin Kolbe)

Not gonna lie, this was perhaps one of the most disappointing races in Oregon, if not one of the most disappointing 400m championship finals ever. I'm as thankful we have WVN and Steven Gardiner back as Norman was to have them gone 😅.
How was this disappointing? Watching the best in the business going at it is never disappointing. Having ran 2 rounds before this and 4x4 rounds , this was a heck of a race.
Norman finally gets an individual Global Gold Medal even if it was in a slow 44.29 winning time! Be great to have a healthy & in-form Gardiner, WvN, Kirani, the youngster Samukonga and maybe Norman (if he doesn't make the US 100/200m Teams) all in the Budapest Final with hopefully a mid 43s winning time!

yeah sure. he is fast for the shorter sprint but not the best,, as he is in the 400m
The real struggles is Kirani James dealing with Graves disease and winning the silver medal.

I don't think he will ever regain his past glorious form of 2015-2017 but it will be nice to see him a global (Olympics or WC) medal again .
Kirani James is amazing, fighting and overcoming Graves disease to win the silver medal.
Damn Wayne Van Niekerk really locked up at the end there, it’s like his legs froze and stopped propelling him forward
he tore his ACL, so that's to be expected. He's closer to his peak form now with a 44.19 about 2 months ago.
Off cycle.
Still with van Niekerk

Loved how rai Benjamin was so happy and there for his teammate😢
