Hey Don, another nice craft, well done. A nice trick to perform for kids. But I didn't understand how the trick itself works!?

The cards that are slid into the channel on the outside of the tube are part of the misdirection. You've already pre-set the direction of the arrows on the sleeves inside the tube when you prep the trick, so when you slot the cards into the channel on the outside the first time you're matching the pattern of the arrows on the sleeves already in the tube. Everything after that is further misdirection, by matching the arrows on the outside to what you know will be showing when you pull the sleeves off with the tube, or what will be showing when you leave them behind.

@@techparadox7016 i understand that the only combinations are preset on the inner tube but how do you hold or release the inner tube when removint the outer tube.

@@paulkayne5697 Depending on how tightly the inner tubes are in the outer tube, you could squeeze the sides of the outer tube as you hold it close to the bottom (holding them in place by friction alone), but it works better if you grasp the outer tube near the bottom with your first three fingers and thumb, and then use your little finger of that hand under the bottom edge of the assembly to trap the inner tubes as you lift it. You can't really see it during the first two passes during the demonstration, but on the third one (at 2:59) you can see him pinning the tubes in (and subsequently letting them drop too soon). You can also see the pinky-finger trick during the end of the video (at around 8:18) as he tilts the assembly forward and lifts everything together.

Personally, I think your presentation of the trick itself isn't bad at all.

I’d like to see how to make the classic A B C box trick!

It's clear that the shells can be deposited or stripped from the whole boxes and alternating that performs the trick. But you didn't show how to make them stick to the tube or drop from it, on demand. I expected you to have magnets or a hidden lever or some such detail, but you just stopped like it was done!

You can see during the initial demonstration of the trick (at 1:40) that the shells accidentally drop out of the bottom of the tube, and later in the demonstration of how to fit it all together (at 8:24) they accidentally pop out of the top. There's no magnets involved to keep things in place. You could possibly hold them in place by just squeezing the sides of the outer box as you initially pick it up, but you can see as the trick is further performed that you use your little finger under the bottom corner of the outer tube to pin the shells in place until you get the whole assembly over the three solid boxes. They just sit in the tube, stacked on top of each other.
