Totally agree, I remember helping optimize these for robots that my kids were working on 10 years ago. They really do work wonders in those small scale applications.
Called it! Mecanum wheels are great, the only major drawback is that they are pretty easy to push around, though not as bad as hovers or other types of omni wheels.
If these things will behave anything like hovers, we might see a whole lot of strafing dogs and changes in meta. Counters would most likely be porc hovers with flashes, similar dogs and leg builds.
Sentry Bots in the Fallout game series use these, specifically in Fallout 4 and 76. It allows them to strafe while facing you, and subsequently allowing them to fire their machine guns and rocket launchers facing in your direction while going around obstacles. Pain in the ass to fight.
Thank you very much for the video........I was hoping we were getting spherical wheels ...they are faster than the other wheels lol. Great content as always, cheers!
This actually means you would need an even amount of wheel pairs to be able to strafe! But I'm not expecting we will have to be too serious about that ingame ^^
Loved it Mt G! Cant wait to see how these perform in game. Should be good for side stepping wedges and lancers or maybe omnidirectional wedges... I can imagine crazy little cars flying all over the place. Going to be a minelayers dream :) Anyways, ye vid on neg camber would be interesting. Guess its a nope on the bipedal legs ?
I would love to see some builds with these wheels and meat grinders in a "half grinder" configuration. Would they work well together? Will have to wait till it gets on the test (or promo) server to find out.
These are looking pretty good so far I still want to get some sort of driving wheels that are on modern locomotives, maybe one "wheel" is a set of 4 drive wheels where the frame that the drive wheels are on rotate (similar to how a fifth wheel works) rather than each individual wheel.
I'm super annoyed how broken mecanum wheels are in crossout. Reverse steering is still inverted, and they just disabled reverse of diagonal strafing to hide the broken game engine.
As I said in an earlier comment, I saw that someone was working on these kinds of wheels for military application in the real world. It will be interest to see how these wheel play out in CrossOut. Will it be high cost, low speed/traction, poor load carrying capacity or a mix of the above? My bet is on 3 out of the 4. The big question will be, is the performance going to be good enough to offset the price in cost, traction, speed, and/or load? Thanks for the up date. I had no idea that they were in use already.
I learned a new word today.
You are a good teacher Mr G!
When you spend hours designing tanks that aren't good enough, and then build a perfect tog 2 on the first try...
basically my tank builds bcuz i put some important stuff at the back (generator, radiator/cooler, etc.)
These have been around for a while IRL, great tech that works consistently
Totally agree, I remember helping optimize these for robots that my kids were working on 10 years ago. They really do work wonders in those small scale applications.
Mecanums, then negative cambers... Next wheels we should get are lightweight bigfoot 'Donk' wheels.
Pretty straightforward and basic explanation, perfect for people with very little experience, keep it up my man!
Called it! Mecanum wheels are great, the only major drawback is that they are pretty easy to push around, though not as bad as hovers or other types of omni wheels.
I imagine that won't come into play due to engine limitations
When these get released imma build a side hover but put these wheels on it and call it the sand crawler
When these get released imma steal your idea
@@coltonbates629 I'm fine with other ppl having the same idea
I can't wait to make sideways wheel builds lol
How was I not aware of omni weels existence earlier (before the crossout update )

Mr G, I watch your Crossout videos for the entertainment factor (I don't play the game), but now I get some science too? Awesome! 8 )
Did I understand you correctly, that you have to mount them in a certain way to get the effect you want? Sorry if I misunderstood.
In real life you would need 4 placed symmetrically yes, I have no idea how they'll work in Crossout.........yet
Sentry Bots in the Fallout game series use these, specifically in Fallout 4 and 76. It allows them to strafe while facing you, and subsequently allowing them to fire their machine guns and rocket launchers facing in your direction while going around obstacles. Pain in the ass to fight.
This video helped me a lot. Great video
The more videos explaining things the better awesome vid
Thank you very much for the video........I was hoping we were getting spherical wheels ...they are faster than the other wheels lol. Great content as always, cheers!
cool video. negative camber video will be appreciated as well :)
thanks G
thanks for the quick lesson! I wasn't sure how those work, cant wait till they come out.
how its so obvious 😂 these videos are dumb as. the info is as clear as day.
Fascinating wheel design, and one I can't wait to see in Crossout. Thank you for sharing a nice explanation!
This actually means you would need an even amount of wheel pairs to be able to strafe! But I'm not expecting we will have to be too serious about that ingame ^^
Agreed
Yes, I very much like your instructional video, and would like to see more. It really brings out the teacher in you. ;)

Golden eagle makes the Omni go super fast and great for raming

tht was nice, thanks Mr. G :D
please more educational videos :)
Would these work if you have only 2 rear ones like they showed in the pic??
Yea I think so, one have to rotate clockwise and the other anti clockwise, and rear of the vehicle strafe
Good vid, indeed it would be nice to have the same kind of info for the other type of wheel.
Yes, please prepare and present an informative video on negative camber wheel fundamentals
These are looking pretty good so far

Nice cup of coffe
morning g, hope yah have a good one man
U2
didnt know wheels could be this cool
CAMBER CAMBER CAMBER PLZ PLZ G!
1:13 yes!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Good content G
Thank you teacher...😊😊😊😊
I noticed on the round wheels there were omni wheels driving the ball.
How do these perform on a slope (road with a slope)?
Hey G im a bit confused is this going to be on a pack to purshase or in game unlockable?
Not sure if Battlepass or pack exclusive yet
@@MrGPlays everything is coming tomorrow or later?
Mid Feb to early Feb
@@MrGPlays thank you so much!!! You're my go to Pro 💪💪💪

man wonder how these are going to work with normal wheels like on the shown build.
I'm super annoyed how broken mecanum wheels are in crossout. Reverse steering is still inverted, and they just disabled reverse of diagonal strafing to hide the broken game engine.

I think that wheel will not be effective at fights but it will be when drifting
can you explain the disadvantages and advantages of macanum wheels
Cant wait to build a fork lift
I wonder how they'll behave with one or in combination with normal wheels or legs
These wheels are wheely cool
MASHAALLAH khub valo video
Can this wheels turn and strafe at the same time?
yes it's basically a wheel version of the hover
If it's better little than a Bigfoot it would be great .
Anyone know any good fortune builds that only use 2 on wheels or tracks (i dont like hovers and only own 2 fortunes)
nice vid make the negative one please professor G.☕👍
This is awesome
I used these things in robotics.
2:04 otomatik kapi :D video is from Turkey
Yes, negative camber. Thank you.
cool
Interesting. I've always heard it pronounced, meh-CAN-um wheels.
