Thank you for this. My grandfather just died. He was the last of my grandparents and the one I spent the most time with by far. It was in his garage that I first learned woodworking.

Fantastic tribute! I am curious though why you didn't cut those longer strips down a bit before glue-up? Also looks like there is some spalted wood in there. I am always concerned using spalted wood for cutting boards.

I’m curious, did u have to treat the wood in a special way since it’s used for food?
I use a shop made finish of mineral oil and beeswax. It's food safe and easily reapplied.
