I think it's one of direct competitor is Mercedes Benz GLS 350D. It is almost the same length but Mercedes Benz product is slightly cheaper. I wish I could buy one of these beauties one day.
Generally, I would prefer being in the back of the LWB Range Rover for the legroom and outboard visibility. The materials, fit and finish look quite good as well. I must admit though, the back seat of the new Maybach is hard to overlook. 😃
Without the option of operating the rear seats like the front seats, there's no point in spending crores on a vehicle. So definitely the SV Autobiography is the only long-wheelbase variant worth buying (Rs. 4.51 Cr. in Mumbai). That being said, for transport in India (mix of urban and rural), I would gladly take this vehicle over RR Phantom, Bentley Mulsanne, and Maybach S650 due to the high ground clearance.
Innova 2.8 diesel AT is my pick or an Endeavour 3.2 if I need a 4wd nothing more. I just can't fathom what you get after you spend a truck load of money which cars which cost one fifth or even less does it even better in all aspects. And to top it all its a pain in the ass to maintain and keep them running Daily.
Practically it is not the ideal car for India and its traffic.... I personally prefer and advise @rangerover that the regular version (not the LWB) of VOGUE is also made available in India. So that I personally feel that if the SWB version are available in our Indian market many will prefer RANGE ROVER over other competitors.
Well done Tata for investing in Jaguar Landrover and getting them to create some world class products.
