Exterior as I had reviewed is great, but the interior and the driving experience was a serious turn-off for me. Defender was high on my orderlist, but finally decided to go for Mercedes Gwagon only.
As much as I like the whole design idea behind the new Land Rover Defender I just don't like it as a serious overlanding vehicle. The true off roading capabilities of the new Defender are not unleashed unless you opt for the air bag suspension, but for overlanding it's a solution asking for problems. Coil spring suspensions are easy to repair, while an airbag suspension especially a computer controlled one like that used in Defender just isn't serviceable unless you take the vehicle to an authorized service shop. Then there's the whole thing about the winch kit on this SUV. A deep concealed wireless remote controlled electric winch is just isn't ideal for overlanding, if your winch remote runs out of batteries and you're stuck in mud then you're pretty much screwed. Aftermarket winch compatible bumpers can't be installed on the new Defender because it uses its own proprietary concealed winch mounting system. The original Land rover Defender was not only a serious purpose built SUV that was well suited for overlanding but it was also a fairly open and customizable system. The new Defender feels like an SUV that's made for weekend warriors with a closed proprietary system. Yes it's extremely capable off road, but it's not well suited for long off road overlanding trips wherein you're often far away from any civilization. In my opinion the new Toyota Landcruiser GR Sport does a better job in being a modernized but still overlanding capable SUV than the new Land Rover Defender. On a different note, I hope INEOS releases the Grenadier in India, because for people who want a serious off roading vehicle it does a better job than the new Land Rover Defender.
I think it looks hideous.... I don't know why but whenever they upgrade the specs & performance they change the look of the vehicle & make it look bad....

The defender is a superb SUV Toyota Land Cruiser is highly over rated and over priced SUV
