Agreed, so many cases of not admitting mistakes and charging the customer with the cost of repair of the mistake, adding insult to injury....the Car Ninja showing how it is done properly!
Adding the thunder sound to the antifreeze draining was a nice touch. Now only if you can get that antifreeze audio and thunder sound in a continuous loop, you would have a perfect ASMR Car Ninja channel.
You must be a God send to local BMW owners. Not ripping them off at every turn. It is no wonder they have the patience with you being a fair and reputable mechanic for those that enjoy them as much as you yourself do. Keep up the great show and we'll hang in there in support.
E60s are so good. I had a 08 528xi with 300k miles. Sold it when I got my current E60, 05 545i with a 6 speed manual, sport package, active steering and dynamic drive. Super fun car.
Johnny is the best. I do 98% of my own work. If there wasn’t something I felt like doing I’d have full faith in Johnny. I am impressed with the use of fender mats. Knowing the standard he holds the shop and his mechanics to, this is a place you would bring your car and you wouldn’t find dirt prints all over the door panel and steering wheel when you pick your car up.
E60 light modules usually don't go bad. Sometimes, when there is a permanent short circuit on some light, the power is cut off inside light module. Usually inside the headlight, the insulation of wiring falls off due ageing and heat cycles and lines getting into contact create short-circuit. Short circuit protection inside light module can be reset with BMW software like Tool32 after wiring is repaired. Of course, dealer-level software like DIS and ISTA don't offer such kind of reset and require light module replacement.
I got 265k miles on my 528 with minimal issues. Really great machines. Worst thing was a quick lube place installed the oil filter incorrectly stopping oil from circulating. After it was fixed I got another couple 10k miles before we sold it
So relaxing listening to this expert explain what is up and what is to be done. Enjoyed watching this. I remember how thick the carpets are in these old 5 series. Luxury.
Very talented expert and specialist for Bmw cars. Explaining everything that you are doing step by step...great mechanic. Truly enjoying watching your videos here in Europe. Keep it up👍
E60 tip! Always remove passenger front wheel and lower fender liner and peel up upper liner and remove rubber drain piece, clean out massive debris, zip tie flap of rubber J drain to wiring handy there and it won't flood the ECU/DME electronic box. Required maintenance for every e60/e61!
Car Ninja come to the Deep South and you will still see folks driving around with the number 3 painted on the doors of their cars and trucks! That’s how popular Dale Earnhardt Sr. was and still is! RIP
Plastic as the worst thing that ever happened to cars. Plastic fuel parts, plastic cooling system parts plastic everywhere and the stuff always gets brittle with age and always breaks
One of the main reasons for German cars' "unreliability" is lack of maintenance and unqualified mechanics. There are very few cars these days with possibly questionable reliability, like some Land Rover, or some French and Italian cars. But with proper maintenance the cars of the main German brands run flawless for many years.
ahhh the tools I have found working on cars. Found my 1/4 drive socket and ratchet with extension still attached on m boys car. Slightly rusty but still there. Still can't believe it did not fall off.
My headlight was completely dead so I plugged in INPA and reset the fault counter. Came right back to life. Headlight housing was cracked and water shorted it.
Damn!! I need an honest and knowledgeable mechanic like you Jonny to fix my BMW cars 😫 I got a 2005 E46 M3 vert w/ SMG trnsm. and a 2017 X5 with the m sport pckg. My M3 has some issues here and there but I’m reluctant to take it to any shop for repairs because the mechs here doesn’t seem like they’re confident in doing the job 😟
As difficult as modern BMWs can be to work on, those access panels in the interior make them WAY easier to change the fuel pump and fuel filter than on GM vehicles; which have them inside the damn gas tank!
I had a 2009 530i. At idle, the engine would make a ticking noise like the one in the video. Adding some Marvel mystery oil to the engine oil made the sound disappear 😁
Lifter tick its normal just sit in car stationary and keep rev counter just above 3k revs for 3mins and fills back up the lifters you have to do it a few times a year usually if left idle for a week or two
Hey car ninja. I've just got a 2018 M3 comp. I'm getting a solid crankhub as we speak. I love it it's a fantastic car and with a computer tune from bootmod it's an animal. Really like your stuff
Hi Ninja, Same car, same year. Do you recommend clearing the codes after repairs are performed or do you allow the car to clear them by itself? Thanks in advance!
Do you guys over in the states get the 40d engine? 3.0 twin turbo . I have a x5 40d individual spec and love it and would love to see some content on it.
Ninja, can you tell me how I can fix the water valve right error code? It has been there for almost three year of the same car that you were working on.
Found a 2008 528i 139k miles for $2000 ….supposedly with a main frame electric relay needing to be done??? Don’t know what that is but I wanna purchase so bad…worth the money or not?
Love that Cheshire cat grin at the end. "Oops, I made a booboo." You're human, Jonny? Say it ain't so! 😆 I never knew for sure what engine the 528s had in them. I thought maybe it was a four banger, but that looked like a six. 2.8 litre? Why would they make one so close to a 3.0? Or is it a 3.0 with just different options on the body?
You're lucky in the USA that you didn't get the N53 engine (or N43 2.0 fours) with the terrible Piezo direct injection. Lucky, lucky you. The 528i only exists for the US market. Here, it's a 525i or a 530i.
N52/3/4/5 belt tensioners should be replaced after 100,000 miles. They wear and then operate at a strange angle that can fire the belt off - towards the engine. The crank pulley then forces it past the front crank oil seal....into the engine requiring sump removal. German engineering/reliability! 😂
My N52 has the exact same ticking noise I hear at about 11:15 in the background. Seems to go away after driving for a bit. Anything to be concerned about?
Quick question: changed my angel eyes right side 4 weeks ago and it’s gone again Could it be my LCM gone. Have codes for LCM on ista-D diagnostics. Is it easy to change . Do you need to code it or can you plug play? Can you use ISTAD to code or a scanner?
An honest mechanic is a great mechanic. We all make mistakes, but not admitting them is really the mistake!
Agreed, so many cases of not admitting mistakes and charging the customer with the cost of repair of the mistake, adding insult to injury....the Car Ninja showing how it is done properly!
It's about making mistakes and learning from them, that's how you get better
Yes got played on my car repairs
Adding the thunder sound to the antifreeze draining was a nice touch. Now only if you can get that antifreeze audio and thunder sound in a continuous loop, you would have a perfect ASMR Car Ninja channel.
😂
Was thinking the same thing "before" the lightning/thunder sound =)
that's actually very true, this channel is very asmr-ish, love how quiet and calm it is
Car Ninja is a talented, honest, hardworking mechanic, love watching this guy work!

I bet the local bmw dealership loves German motor works haha

Ditch that v8. Not even close in terms of reliability as 528 was
I have a 545i also, it’s needed some work but it’s a great running smooth car
@@TornikeJashia I work on BMWs for a living it will be fine.
One of the absolute best mechanics on RUclips....youb don't just explain what you did you show how you've done it ....
Thanks!
Love this channel, professional, honest and always interesting.
I appreciate that!
I always enjoy your videos! Your humility and candor are a sign of your integrity...you would have my business if I lived closer. Great Job!

My angel eye rings have turned off for second time and I replace it with new. Only one side only. Is it LCM or wiring inside the headlight??
I got 265k miles on my 528 with minimal issues. Really great machines. Worst thing was a quick lube place installed the oil filter incorrectly stopping oil from circulating. After it was fixed I got another couple 10k miles before we sold it
Don’t go to quick lube places lol

I lost an engine at a lube station.

Johnny is great. Knowledgable, honest, skilled, an excellent mechanic
I wish more mechanics were like you car Ninja.
I have a 2011 328i N51 engine and it’s the best car I’ve had. Very easy to work on also.
I am from Ukraine and I am very pleased to see how to work out this work. Very professional, thanks for the voice acting
I was laughing my ass off at the Dale signed screwdriver part... I like Ninja's Balcaninc no nonsense , no drama, get'er done approach.
I'm more surprised that he randomly found a screwdriver left down there by some other shop. That's crazy!!!!
Forget the yellow screw driver, when he asks for the brown screw driver, then you're in trouble
I like the way he takes pride in the work he does insuring everything is properly done. I enjoy the videos
This man is a legitimate mechanic by they way he works.
The 525i,528i,530i are the only E60s I’d ever buy. BMW inline six engines are still very good! Way fewer issues than their V8 engines.
1000%
Listen to that beautiful BMW lifter tick. I thought they sorted this issue out on the later N52's, guess not.
I would buy a BMW if I lived near you guys ...but I don't so I won't....really enjoy the channel.
Thank you.
Have an e60 530i with the m54 engine. It’s the best! But just like any old bmw, dealing with some problems atm😂
Car Ninja come to the Deep South and you will still see folks driving around with the number 3 painted on the doors of their cars and trucks! That’s how popular Dale Earnhardt Sr. was and still is! RIP
Johnny should do some videos on which BMWs are good and which to avoid. Does the ninja like e60s?
Agreed 👍
Simple, any bmw made after 2005 😂
Plastic as the worst thing that ever happened to cars. Plastic fuel parts, plastic cooling system parts plastic everywhere and the stuff always gets brittle with age and always breaks
That's why my newest BMW is 1994. All that E60 junk can get in the sea.
You convinced me as well as the Wizard to never buy a Bummer. So many issues.
N52 is such a great motor for the E60 chassis. Very clean!

You are an expert !
Great professional at work. Keep it up. I wish I had a mechanic like you
Love your work Car Ninja.
Thumbs up
We need more uploads please
The E60 design has aged very well. Quite surprising considering the Bangle pushback at the time.
You don’t even see them on the road anymore 😂
Looks like most my days at work. I really like E60’s.
Ah, perfect Sunday, Ninja video, roast dinner, bottle of red and Brazilian F1 Gp! Bliss :)
Depo lights don't let Sreten (M539 Restorations) anywhere near them!
Let's hope a hammer isn't nearby.
Sreten was in the states last week, if they go missing, we know why.

Got a windows 10 laptop and ISTA/INPA cable for less than a new FRM
Thanks for another great and honest video. My e61 is a great car. (As long as you keep after the maintenance)
Ahh. Would ya just listen to that infamous N52 lifter tick lol.
Nice job on it, super common issues.
Quite a loud tick on that car is that normal?
Really like your videos seeing real artisans at work with a genuine love of cars.
On any car but a BMW or Honda I would say abnormal lol
Its completely normal the car must of been sitting for awhile, and it goes away if you go for a spirited drive.
I noticed that too. Hope it's not the timing guides.
Normal
And in 2 weeks............ Jonny replaces the water pump😃

Hi Jonny , Where is your shop? Really enjoy the videos , as I have a BMW 528i
I give a thumbs up because I love someone who doesn't know Dale:)
Car Ninja did not know Dale Earnhardt.... such a shame.....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Nice find of Dale's Snap On screwdriver. Congratulation.
Jonny needs to check out Cleetus McFarlands channel that’ll bring him up to speed on Dale😂
I used to drive E60 2006
Milage was 500K
It was still running good
Best engine with good maintenance life longer
I would only trust this guy with my cars
Great Presentation!!!
Freaking died seeing ninja read the Dale signature and not knowing who he is 😂

Yes, it is
