I saw HUM, Swervedriver, and Puller at VZD’s Oklahoma City in ‘98. My favorite rock band of all time and to see them on that tiny stage was the most memorable musical event to this day for me.
Watching Hum open for Bush around 1995 was the first band I ever saw live... I was completely blown away, and I never forgot it. It still was one of the best performances I ever saw. HUM rocked.
I heard this song first time for a truck commercial back in the mid 2000s. I asked around and one of my friends at my high school knew the song. Great memory burning this onto my iPod with limewire.
This is pure, unadulterated fact right here. My teenage brain EXPLODED when that distortion hits. I remember spending DAYS with my friend and our cheap $90 guitar packages from Brand Names trying to figure it out. I still use it as a solid cover on 90s nights when we play out.
Dude, I just can’t believe how spot on you are with these 90’s rock “first time” vids. I’m sure this is entertaining to a wide audience, but this explosive riff was mind blowing and had never been done before, so hearing it the first time was life changing. This song, SP Mayonnaise and Cherub Rock made me feel like one of those videos of people hearing the Beatles the first time. Absolutely love this content man!
I went to lollapalooza at randells island the summer that song came out. I smoked angel dust and found myself on the rocks by the water on the outskirts of the multiple stages. The collective sound of all of the music playing at the same time coupled with the PCP sounded like stars.
Bro, Hum is one of my absolute favorite bands in the world and like nobody knows about them! I love this video. Stars was the first song I ever heard of theirs and it blew me away too, obviously. Lol.
I remember pushing my local Kansas City radio station at the time to play other tracks on this album. Eventually they did. Hidden gems. Great bringing Hum into the spotlight. Great reaction!
Gen x @ 54 here. Been enjoying your shorts for a few months now.....this one made me subscribe. I totally forgot how much this band kicked ass. ty kindly sir.
Hum is an incredibly underrated band
I agree it's a great band 🤙🤙🤙
They actually were "rated." By every metric. They were average.
@@DJKinney That's what they're saying, it should have been rated higher.
@@DJKinneyWrong.
@@DJKinneybut they’re far from average in all actuality
I love how all those 90's bands had that garage, grit, intros, and melodic bridges---lyrics deep and trippy.
i miss this era so much.... i haven't heard some of these bands before, but they can still move me to tears! Its Amazing!!
Green to Me is a hell of a jam too
They all are
You'd Prefer an Astronaut, Downward is Heavenward and Inlet are all packed with top tier songs

Saw Hum about 18 times while living in Champaign Urbana going to school. Parties and venues. Ahh the good ol days.
Excellent lineup! I saw Swervedriver at a small venue back in 2019 and it felt so good to see them live again.

They had a new album in 2020 that is killer bro!
I graduated in 95. This song is a big hit of nostalgia for me.
Love the engineering on all their albums. Mixed to perfection
💯
little low in volume and muffled, no? I know a lot of bands that weren't richy richy couldn't always afford the best production in the 90's
I heard this song first time for a truck commercial back in the mid 2000s. I asked around and one of my friends at my high school knew the song. Great memory burning this onto my iPod with limewire.
That's how I found out about this band too! It was a Cadillac commercial during the Superbowl sometime before 2010. Maybe like '06 or '07?
I just listened to this song in my car today! Hum is definitely a hidden gem of a band.
Heck yeah man. Hum are amazing. Their comeback album Inlet from 2020 was amazing
Inlet is an absolute masterpiece
Almost forgot about this song. Was mid 90s last time I heard it.

Astronaut and downward are 2 of my fav albums of all time
This made me remember a song I hadn't heard in YEARS I cannot thank you enough, it's absolutely incredible

I will always love this song. I play air guitar on my thigh while driving, every time.
I got to see them open for Verve in Philly in ‘95. They were great live.
Holy shit that’d be a dream gig. Verve at the top of their game. Damn. Super jealous.
I completely forgot about this song!!!! Brings back sooooo many good memories ❤❤❤❤
The most underrated band of all time. The gem of hidden gems.
This is my all time favorite song. I 🖤it so much!
This came out the year I graduated high school. So many good memories from this song. An underrated classic.
This song rips … when played at high volume it absolutely shreds
I remember hearing Hum on the radio back in the early 2000's. I swear the world was such a warmer place then.
Thanks for bringing the fun back to these song memories for us man.
I haven't heard this song for a couple decades. Great song.
I went to lollapalooza at randells island the summer that song came out.
I smoked angel dust and found myself on the rocks by the water on the outskirts of the multiple stages. The collective sound of all of the music playing at the same time coupled with the PCP sounded like stars.
Forgot about this song. Great song
Thank you for making relive my high school years. Man I miss the music back then.
Such a great song
I had exactly the same reaction the first time I heard this song! 🤘🤘
Dude that was fucking awesome 😂 spot on
Your videos and podcast have helped me though some dark times, thanks dude 😎
I appreciate comments like these so much! Glad I could be a light in the dark for you, dude!
Check out their 2020 album Inlet if you haven't already! Possibly their best album and it was after a 20 year break.

One of the strongest songs of my childhood … easy!!!
Yea the best part is it’s still the same every time it’s played and always will be because it’s one of the greatest songs ever.
One of the greats. I still jam all their albums. Way to underrated.
This is the first Hum song I ever heard. It was on a CD sampler with I Hate It, Too from the same album. I was immediately hooked! My favorite band!
Still to this day as I introduce them and this song to my kiddos! ❤
Ridiculously awesome!
That Hum song is like all of 90's alternative in one song. Hopefully it's in a time capsule somewhere.
My very favorite music critic!!!!!
Yeah, pretty much. What an unbelievably good song.
I miss discovering all of these songs in the 90s as they came out! Thank you for your videos
I love Hum. I seen them at least 5 times. Amazing band
I recently joined a 90s cover band and Stars was just added to our setlist!
I'm gonna enjoy playing this live!!!
I just heard this for the first time a week ago. This is a pretty accurate depiction of my reaction, lol
I love Hum!!!!
I first heard this song on the radio at 2am about 18 years ago. That intro gets me everytime💥
Exactly... I'm bald now because of this exact song. Still my favorite 90s band!
Unadulterated joy is never a bad move. Thanks for sharing it!
I watched this way too many times. It is awesome.
Thank you so much for introducing me to Hum. You’re the best ❤
I was introduced to Hum when i was 15, with ' i hate it too'. I remember those drums coming in and then waking up in the hospital.
I still remember the first time I heard that back in 1995.
It was almost exactly like that.
Oh my god good old days
All of their records are amazing.
The absolute best visualization man of all time.
Oh my god I loved this song so much! I lost track of so many great tunes😢 But thanks Jacob!❤
Such a fantastic band. For anyone who doesn't know, they released an album in 2020 called Inlet.

Chills bro. Every time since
Loving your reaction videos. You’re listening to the same stuff I am and feeling the same way about it. The Mayonnaise one was great!
First time I heard that part with the distorted guitars it blew my mind hole 🤯
This song brings me back to high school days
Every Hum song on every Hum album is good
I uploaded a cover of this song 13+ years ago. Long love HUM. ❤
Agreed, and still listen today 🤘
I still feel this way when I hear this song
I’m nodding to your Ashes & Snow photography. Very 2000’s.
Finally a song I actually Like and can stand With 😊...🎉❤
I heard this once on the radio back in 2013. Needles to say, 18 yo me was quite impressed.
Bravo 👏 you really captured the Hum feeling 😍. RIP Bryan 🙏
