Eines der beliebtesten Ausflugs- und Urlaubsziele am Neusiedler See ist in diesem Film aus dem Jahr 1968 abgebildet. Die Gemeinde Illmitz am Ostufer des Sees sah damals noch erheblich anders aus als heute, wie diese kurzen alten Ansichten beweisen. So steht etwa die spätbarocke Pfarrkirche (erbaut 1775 bis 1792) noch ohne den modernen Zubau. Dieser sollte erst zehn Jahre später erfolgen. Die Flügel der Nordseite wurden dafür geschliffen und der Anbau errichtet,
Illmitz im Burgenland ist Reiseziel für Urlauber, Naturliebhaber und Sportler. Aber auch für Kultur-, Wein- und Kulinarikfreunde hat der Ort einiges zu bieten. Illmitz (ungarisch: Illmic) ist eine Marktgemeinde mit 2.400 Einwohnern - im Bezirk Neusiedl am See im Seewinkel. Es liegt auf 117 Metern Seehöhe und ist damit die tiefstgelegene Ortschaft Österreichs.
Seit Dezember 2001 ist die grenzüberschreitende Kulturlandschaft (Österreich und Ungarn) des Gebietes um den Neusiedler See auch ein Teil des UNESCO-Weltkulturerbes. Auch die reizvolle Landschaft des Seewinkels bei Illmitz ist in unserem Film eingefangen. Dazu vermitteln die Störche auf den Dächern des Ortes klassische Motive aus dem Burgenland.

One of the most popular holiday destinations on Lake Neusiedl is shown in this film from 1968. The community of Illmitz on east bank of the lake looked significantly different back then, as these brief old views prove. For example, the late baroque parish church (built from 1775 to 1792) still stands without the modern extension. This was not to take place until ten years later. Illmitz in Burgenland is a travel destination for vacationers, nature lovers and sports enthusiasts. But the place also has a lot to offer for culture, wine and culinary lovers. Illmitz (Hungarian: Illmic) is a market town with 2,400 inhabitants - in the Neusiedl am See district in Seewinkel. It is 117 meters above sea level, making it the lowest-lying village in Austria.
Since December 2001, the cross-border cultural landscape (Austria and Hungary) of the area around Lake Neusiedl has also been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The charming landscape of the Seewinkel near Illmitz is also captured in our film. In addition, the storks on the roofs of the place convey classic motifs from Burgenland.
