  • I ran into a problem with the hose routing on this 2009 Polaris 170. Not being able to find any good info except from RUclipsr Keegan Royster, I decided to add a hose routing walk through. My problem was a previous owner attached the float bowl vent hose to the crankcase breather system and it wouldn't allow the float bowl to breath. This engine would idle but would not accelerate due to fuel starvation. Hopefully this helps somebody.

Dude!!! You saved my kids machine. I had that same line from carb hooked up to that same location. Disconnected it, and runs perfect. Thanks a bunch!!!

It’s really odd you took your comments down so you can’t say anything anymore does that say anything about you and your knowledge? Why would you do that interesting because you’re wrong sunshine you think you know all this shit you may be had it running but why are you competing with the Polaris engineers?

Very helpful. I am working on a friend's rzr170 that sat in the woods for a few years. It was a mess. I was trying to figure all this out and then found the service manual. Got it all routed, but that had the same issue with hooking up the float bowl vent to the dual intake valve. Thanks for confirming. It made sense once I took the dual intake valve apart and saw the diaphram, knowing that would not allow the bowl to vent.

Any idea why there would be no vacuum coming off the crank case to the fuel pump?
Replaced the fuel pump (and carb) but I am not getting any vacuum off the hose that goes to the pump.
    Clueless at the moment

I have the same machine and it runs fine however it loses prime after sitting for a week or so…. If i pressurize the fuel tank with a compressor it will fire up? Is it possibly a hole in the line? Anyone ?

Having same problem with ours. Ever figure it out by chance?

@@jeffnewton5482 haven’t really looked into it further; however I’ve found a quick shot of starting fluid into the breather port between the two seats will give it enough to start the vacuum and it will run on its own. So I just keep a can of starting fluid handy and give it a squirt.

If you need that time frame, maybe you could combine a couple videos together to form one. I’ve seen people do that , and it works

Your float needle is set to high or its leaking, allowing to gas to run over. I use a small pressure gauge (mityvac brake bleeder) that I hook up to the fuel inlet on the carb. Usually I shoot for 4-6 psi with carb flip upside down so the float is closing the needle and seat. If your needle is leaking you’ll see and hear the pressure drop when you pump it up.
