I’ve been savoring this game on my VCS, playing a little here and a little there because, well I have three daughters and not much time, but I absolutely love it. It’s a wonderful love-letter to Atari, Yars and the fans. The artwork is beautiful, the music is fantastic and the gameplay is tight. I’m both impressed and entertained. I’m loving Atari in 2024!! I was so skeptical of Yars Rising when it was announced. It seemed too disjointed and a crazy tonal shift that I didn’t think it would work. I was wrong. Yars Rising has been such a fun experience. I am about to finish the game so thank you for such a great product.

First thoughts: Yars Rising is a solid metroidvania, and the best of the "Reimagined" titles so far. Controls are on point. The gameplay, music and production values are top-notch. As a Gen-X gamer who grew up on Yars Revenge, I understand the skepticism of some older gamers who just want a straight update to the original. We have that. It's called Yars Recharged. Yars Rising is a fun, fresh take on the lore that weaves enough Yars/Atari references in for the geezers - self included. It's tricky to balance nostalgia and innovation. I hope folks give it a shot.
I have been very happy to see Atari’s movement the past few years. From the FANTASTIC Recharged line (Gravitar is my favorite), to the Reimagined games like Lunar Lander Beyond to the newer style gameplay expansion of established properties like Yars Rising. Keep up the good work. And that’s coming from an O.G. Atari player from the days of the Original 2600. Also, I have at home an Arcade1up Atari Star Wars cabinet right next to my AtGames Legends Ultimate that has everything from 2600 to Lunar Lander & Gravitar: Recharged (via Steam) Make Mine Atari!! 👊🏻😎🕹️
Atari devs or anyone from Atari, if you see this message theirs a problem with centipede recharged. It won’t start, at the boot up screen the game works as normal but when you have to press any button to start it’s just a punk square and won’t start. I pressed every button and it won’t start. I play on switch so it may just be the switch version.
