      In this one though, he straight up tries to kill Sarabi. It's the differences between both iterations of the character. Original Scar was flamboyant, sarcastic, moody, and very posh at times. The way he backhands Sarabi in the original is like how an arrogant king slaps a disobedient servant. This version of Scar is angrier, resentful, more unhinged, and sociopathic. He doesn't care if he used to love Sarabi. He'll kill her on the spot just for mentioning Mufasa.

      The scene is more realistic though. A lioness would absolutely try to wreck his shit if he tried to attack her like that and would definitely not go down in one hit. It won't kill you to watch a female character do something useful every once in a while. The random Nala/Shenzi subplot was am excessive in the woke/feminism department though. They could have juat as easily shown her just taking down some hyhenas attacking Simba.

Maybe that's what triggered him to say that he was ten times the king Mufasa was. I don't know if this is true, I'm merely taking a guess. • @TerraCipher
      @TerraCipher 2 года назад +4

      I think you missed the point here. The whole thing, the whole movie - even the original one - is about Scar trying to be "bigger" than Mufasa. Scar never really cared about the kingdom, the power, the lionesses. He doesn't even love Sarabi. All he wanted to do is to win against Mufasa - in one way or another. As he was not able to compete with his brother - because he was definitely stronger - Scar simply k!lled him. Or at least he caused Mufasa's death on purpose because he couldn't even get rid of him without any help. And since Mufasa is not there anymore to actually compete, Scar had to find a way to win against him even tho Mufasa isn't really participating in this "game" anymore. He wanted everything his brother had. The kingdom, the power, the queen. Not because he needed them or loved them. It was simple envy. The reason why he brought up Mufasa in this scene is simple. He starts to believe that he didn't really win against his brother. And he probably reached the point where he has to hear it otherwise from the one who chose Mufasa over him. Sarabi is pretty much the only thing Scar envied from Mufasa that could actually assure him that he won.
      But of course, it's only my opinion, not confirmed by anyone, it's just what I see and think after watching the movies a few times. And I respect every opposite opinion. :)

    There is a disconnect between what they were trying to accomplish in this remake. In the orginal animated movie, all the animals had human like expressions, so even though they were drawn as lions you can connect, Scar 'slapped' Sarabi like a human would rather than how Scar reacts in this movie. Thats the problem with this movie, it has no place, trying to make a hyper realistic version means taking all that human like potrayal out leading to very dull depictions. But if they simply remade the entire 1994 film shot for shot with only differnce being 3D animations over 2D there is nothing 'new' about it. So as many would agree, this Film was pointless. (p.s I would say it is astounding the animation work that this film has and some voice acting in this film was decent)
