      Sarabi is my favourite character. I adore both versions and love Alfre to bits, but I personally think Viola Davis would have been a stronger fit. But Madge Sinclair the original voice actress was absolutely superlative and like no other, it was the only female voice i personally feel could match to James Earl Jones's regal tone as Mufasa.

    I loved that they added more character to Sarabi. We already knew she was a queen who loved and was loved by Mufasa, but we never really got to know her.
    Here, we see she isn’t just a queen, she was a warrior queen! She is shown as loved, strong, and respected! In both versions, I love when Mufasa shows Rafiki inside and he rubs his head against hers, showing just how much he deeply loves her as his queen and best friend. In another scene, when the hyenas attack at the beginning, the first thing Mufasa says is “where is Sarabi?” and Zazu tells him she’s leading the charge. Even after his death, she stays loyal to Mufasa and doesn’t give into Scar or his advances, even if there are consequences!
    Sarabi was one of my favorite characters in this movie!

    • @littlekitsune1
      @littlekitsune1 4 года назад +19

      I think this arguably makes her a worse character. Since now she's passive for no reason, just letting Scar do whatever he wants simply because of his title. By that logic she may as well just marry him and give the lionesses a better life, since apparently him being king is a good enough reason to let him ruin their home, in her eyes. Nala's idea to fight him was desperate, but at least fueled by the right logic, and her leaving to find help is ultimately what saved everyone. Sarabi seems content to just sit around and let him rule.

      @sealink129 4 года назад +135

      Yeah, but not only that. Sarabi was the head lioness before Scar was king and is much older and more experienced than Nala. And Scar would’ve known this. He would’ve wanted a queen that the others already respected and looked to for guidance. He knows that if Sarabi became his mate, that the other lionesses would stick by her side. Not to mention that he wanted to out-do Mufasa as king since he constantly compares himself to Mufasa, and probably also wanted Sarabi for the idea that he got Mufasa’s queen. And for the story, I feel like this change makes more sense and better fits than if Scar had chosen Nala like revealed in the original

      While I agree with you that this remake was totally unnecessary and felt emotionless/expressionless I don't think that the "realism isn't an excuse for the lack of emotion"... Every character you mentioned (for example Aslan and Pikachu) wasn't even half as realistic as the animals/lions in the remake of the Lion King! Watching this movie felt like watching a documentary of actual animals which was quite impressive in my opinion, too! That doesn't mean that this movie and Animation match at all, cause they definitely don't... However I don't think it's fair to compare one of the most beautiful, emotional, powerful and breathtaking movies, that is simply a masterpiece of cinematic history with such a cashcrab! Disney only made this movie to earn more money (with an already perfect movie) instead of creating something new, which is simply a shame! And I guess everyone who watched the original movie would never think that this is a worthy remake...

  • @imagine778

      She was, though. She wouldn't let anyone do anything to change their circumstances just because "Scar is the king." Nala had to do everything herself by actually looking for help and ultimately finding Simba.

    • @littlekitsune1
      @littlekitsune1 4 года назад +5

      @Lee Brown What? Why would you not compare it to the original? It's a pointless remake that's only holding up _because_ it's a remake. People give Sarabi too much credit automatically just because she had like... 2 extra lines.

    • @littlekitsune1
      @littlekitsune1 4 года назад +4

      @Lee Brown My issue is that it's a terrible remake with terrible motives and that remakes are all Disney makes anymore. But no, I don't care that much. And I don't think I'm special. I just gave my own take on it. But the fact that you have nothing to say about it other than personal slights and strawman arguments where I at least said why I feel Sarabi was a weak character here says enough.

    • @littlekitsune1
      @littlekitsune1 4 года назад +4

      @UC-wxOVUonDALmhzDHINB6nQ Where did I "rampage through the comment section"? You're literally gatekeeping my opinion because you don't like it, which is ridiculous. You're even using the term "hater" unironically. I have as much right to criticize the movie as you do to praise it. I never said people couldn't like it, so how about _you_ get over yourself and stop telling me what I can and can't say in this passive-aggressive way because my opinion has somehow personally slighted you.

    • @littlekitsune1
      @littlekitsune1 4 года назад +4

      @UC-wxOVUonDALmhzDHINB6nQ I don't think you understand what gatekeeping means. I never told anyone they're a terrible person for liking the movie or that they shouldn't comment. Me standing up for myself isn't "mad just because it's happening to me." Don't be silly, this rhetoric makes no sense. I'm not even mad, and if I've given an indication I am then that's my bad. I'm annoyed by your logic though, yes. I will fully admit to that. But I think that's pretty justified.
      If you've been stalking my comment history somehow just to make a point then please - you're welcome to point out examples where I HAVEN'T given any reasons for disliking something. Or what "multiple other" videos I've posted on because I have no clue. Again, you sure seem to care on a personal level about how I didn't care for a movie. Saying I didn't give any reasoning is probably the biggest insult you've tried so far. Because you're convinced to dislike me based on your own negative bias and label me a "hater" for giving my honest opinion on what I thought was bad and why. Criticism =/= hate.
      Now either come up with a more interesting reason to dislike me or stop with this childish "I like this so you saying it's bad is a personal attack!" logic.

    However, this version also makes sense due to Taka always wanting Sarabi long before Mufasa and Sarabi got together when they were all kids. _Jealousy always leads to corruption._

And even when she was walking in between the hyenas in the original movie and they were snapping at her she had a face of calm and she remains calm throughout the time and she wasn’t rash just the way the queen should be. And she wasn’t afraid to speak Mufasa name even though there was a law against it.

      Definitely. The original is amazing and there are some parts of this movie that suffer a bit, but there are a lot of things that they do very well. This movie definitely remains true to the original, but there are a few changes that certainly make it its own thing. I definitely like how they showed us what was actually going on at pride rock, and I definitely like that Scar got his injury from Mufasa when he tried to claim Sarabi and the throne. It makes his anger and betrayal more believable. Basically, I think this movie was actually quite good in its own way.

  • @EverlastingSky23
    @EverlastingSky23 3 года назад +1

    I’ve been rewatching some of the scenes from this version of the movie, and I’ve picked up this pattern. It seems anytime they tried to recreate a scene from the 1994 film it’s rushed and it doesn’t flow at all. Which is sad since they did it better over 20 years ago, but when they took the time to create new scenes for the movie like this one here. I’m actually kept entertained throughout, anytime the movie focused on Scar and the other lionesses it was actually written pretty well here. It’s an interesting plot to think that Scar and Sarabi once harbored feelings for each other, but things turned out differently and she ended up being with Mufasa. I like that they made Scar seem more of a threat in this version, and this movie had some great actors in it. The problem where this move flopped is two things, one was the music it seems like they took one take of the music and that’s it. They didn’t care if it sounded good or not, it was one take and no more. And the second is the voice acting, and it stems from not the actors and actresses but the director. If you can’t give actors good directions on how they want a character to be portrayed; then yes shitty acting is what comes along with that. Beyoncé is actually a good actress and I’ve seen her in other works where her acting stands out. The actors in this movie were just following instructions from the director, and whether it was good or bad results comes from the director. I believe many people could withstand the animation being almost lifelike with less emotions on AMINALS emphasis on the word animals, if the acting was enough to make up for it.
