Yes - it was disturbing and creepy for Scar to propose to Nala. Yes - it is the only one of the deleted scenes that really should've made it into the movie regardless of its creepiness. Because A) it gave much more background to how and why Nala left. B) it made a disturbing, yet fascinating portrait of Scar's descent into madness. And C) lets face it - Jeremy Irons had nailed it in both "Be Prepared" AND "Be Prepared (Reprise)". The movie has a lot of comic relief and funny scenes. It deserved to have some more darkness to it as well. If only to balance things. Though, of course, I can imagine how putting this into the finished film could've easily turned into a PR nightmare for Disney. PS: Mufasa's song is a disaster lol.
I mean….Lion King already has some of the darkest subject matter in any Disney movie. We see a little kid watch his dad die right in front of him, followed by us actually seeing the dead body, followed by us seeing how the trauma of this event follows the kid into adulthood. And then you have things like Be Prepared using imagery lifted straight from actual Nazi propaganda films to compare the hyenas to Nazis. Plus, even with Be Prepared (Reprise) clearly depicting non-consensual relationships as a bad thing, (as well they should) the lyrics were a bit too explicit. Scar literally said his “cylinder was aflame.” Jesus Christ. The Broadway version handled this subplot much better

I don't think Pitch Perfect would've necessarily been BAD, I just think they made some last moment changes that created a masterpiece.
The part of Scar, I like the lyrics in the musical better "Tell me I'm adored" But regardless of the lines, it's a great way to show Scar's mental stress and Nala's personality, and it's a pity it was deleted.
the only deleted scene i wish they had used is the one where simba and nala meet each other again. obviously with a few changes in the script (which is understandable since it's an early draft), but i feel like it echoes their childhood dynamic much better than what they went with in the end. it feels more like they have an actual bond - i also like that simba is instantly showing a lot of anxiety about his dad's death. it seems realistic to me since her presence comes along with that, and it makes the fight later feel predictable and flow very well. i also like lots of the things in timon's dialogue. i wish they had kept can you feel the love tonight serious and made timon's being upset about simba being the king (i feel like they got past it too quickly and it would have fitted his character a lot bc he's a selfish meme). thank you for coming to my ted talk.
It would have to be changed slightly as you said though. It also sounds like he doesn't care about his father's death in this deleted scene, which is a problem. At this point of the movie, he's not supposed to have moved on yet.
I also prefer how it portrays Timon too. In the final film, Timon's jealousy of Nala feels like it's played comedically. In this scene, while the comedy is still there, you can still feel his fear of change and losing the little cub he raised a lot more, which makes his and Pumbaa's part in Can You Feel the Love Tonight a lot sadder. Luckily, Lion King 1 ½ would make up for this by actually expanding on Timon's fear of losing Simba to Nala, him feeling betrayed when Simba leaves and refusing to help, with Pumbaa immediately jumping to the rescue, only to realize he's been taking both Simba and Pumbaa for granted and coming to help himself.

I think it's better that it has been deleted. Because it shows that things have gone so badly, that Nallah is forced by her own will to go to Simba to find help for not only herself but others aswell. If it wasn't deleted, it would have had less impact, because it means she was forced to do so for herself, while in the final version it means that she's caring and worried about what happens. I don't however think that it doesn't imply rape or bad stuff happening, as it's implied her mother is the queen in the meantime. It's just slightly less creepy, and makes Nallah more sympathetic in my opinion.

@@MrYoinkySploinky I have to agree with them. However, while this was a good decision, it makes a drastic cut between the first part of the movie, that's overall very serious and what imo made the legend of this movie, and the second part with Timon and Pumba, that lasts for a long time and is too light in its tone. There should have been a lighter scene at this part of the movie as to not make it so the difference in the tone during the movie is too brutal from part 1 to part 2 of it.
We give James Earl Jones a lot of credit for his performance as Mufasa but let’s not forget the Jeremy Irons who played Scar was incredible as well. The worst part about the live action was Irons was missing he could never be replaced as Scar.
I wish the scene with Scar, Nala and the other lionesses had been kept in. It would have given Nala a bit more character. Personally, I disliked how it was never explained or shown how and why she left, nor the arrival of the hyenas (and therefore why the lionesses did not fight back). It would have also given the lionesses more agency. I agree with most folks that it was good that Mufasa's song was removed (as delightful as hearing James Earl Jones singing is), as the 'Circle of Life' speech works much better as it is much more thematically effective.
The scene with scar and Nala had been kept in the Broadway adaptation. A bit different but similar. I agree it adds more screen time for Nala. Plus if the song shadowland made it into the movie it would have been amazing! Nala not only would have had more screen time but an amazing song with the lioness giving her a beautiful send off to search for help.
As creepy the mate/proposing scene is, I feel like it should have been included. It is not the only creepy song compared to Hell fire. It shows the down fall on the pride and the insanity of Scar. Also Nala gets a reason to be so far off from the pride lands.
I like to assume that The Madness of King Scar was one of the main source for the Lion King 2 and even solves one of the main criticism of the second film. Many people have pointed out that Zira was coming from nowhere but here, Scar stated that he considered having a family, so the idea that he find a woman and decide to adopt her son is not out of character for what was built for him in the first film
I thank you -both of you for creating the Lion King, The Masterpiece, the characters, the feeling inside of every song they sung, the world they have and a beautiful story. 😭🧡
One of the things I love about seeing these early animatics is that the drawings are so loose and off-model just to get the feeling and direction across. Timon's drawings are especially hilarious.
Props to the people in charge of the movie. While some of these could have been interesting scenes in themselves, they wouldn't have fit the movie as perfectly as the others already in the movie, to tell the story. It's rare that I agree with good scenes getting cut, but the reasons are sound and it makes sense. Too much things would have been repeated if those were included aswell.
The Scar scene trying to "swoon" Nala (if you couldn't even consider it that, it's just creepy) would have actually ruined this film. Very good call to can the entire thing.
I don't think Zira was Scar's wife. It's established that none of Zira's kids are Scar's kids, he just happened to choose Kovu to take over as king when he died before Simba took over.
There had already been the original release of The Lion King back in 1994 with The Flintstones (live-action), Hans Christian Andersen's Thumbelina and Richie Rich. Then came a special edition of the film by a brand new song, Morning Report. It was sung by Zazu to accommodate the rationale of the balance of nature after daybreak in front of Mufasa and Simba. These deleted scenes actually look wonderful to add to the movie to extend it more. If Disney and a lot of other companies agreed to include the deleted scenes to their movies, they will be about the same length as the documentary books and novelizations.
In live action version they've made that little realistic thing for scar as his trying to take Sarabi as his queen , also they 've used some of the beginning of Simba and Nala's scene literally line to line
I'm overjoyed how all three Lion King films are a complete trilogy collection. Perhaps both stories of Simba and Timon and Pumbaa ought to play back-to-back before the second film. Kiara, Kovu, Zira, Ma and Uncle Max will reappear in The House of Mouse trilogy and The Lion Guard takes place before Simba finished Zira.
@@kailathefox As much as I love The Lion Guard... I agree. The episode where we see Zira and her pride? Really? Nuka: "Where are we?" Me: "Wherever you came from before stealing Jaziri's water, duh!" Zira: "Our new home!" Me: "WTF? YOU WERE THERE BEFORE KOVU MET KIARA!"
12:55 The 2 lines "what happened to the cub who 'couldn't wait to be king'" and "he grew up" was such a good way to show how Simba changed. They really cut a lot of Zazu's lines that were golden! I can see why some scenes were deleted so this is my opinion. 1. 1. 0:55 I prefer the original scene with "he would make a handsome throw rug". 2. 1:45 Yes Mufasa deserved a song but this was not it. Glad it was dropped. It didn't feel in place but they could've written a different song for a different scene. 3:02 loved this scene though with Mufasa dividing a worm. Also the elephant looking annoyed with Simba and just *foop* him away at 3:27. 3. 4:32 Nala and Scar scene would've shown more of the reasons why Nala left in the first place and how the lionesses tried to stand together. Funny and concerning how Zazu really tried in this scene but created doom for Nala to come. 4. 10:08 like I've mentioned above, those 2 lines needed to be added but other than that I like the version we got. I kinda like Timon and Pumba's lines here too. 5. 13:41 I like how Zazu is trying. Like I've said they cut a lot of Zazu's good lines with some of these deleted scenes.

It's a treat to see how The Lion King is made! The part where Nala gets banished makes a lot of sense. Because I always wonder how she left Pride Rock. The scene also reminded me of Simba banishing Kovu in Lion King Two.
There could've also been an actual throne inside the main cave of Pride Rock, made out of actual mini rocks and a long big flat one; it would suit three lions, starting with Mufasa, Scar and Simba. If it got made, all those lion characters would definitely rule with honor and dignity. Scar was no longer next in line to be king due to Simba starting a new generation and Mufasa was bound to give the ruling rights within circumstance to Simba to commit it.
That storyboard for nala and simba reuniting I’ve seen full animation I swear, my gram had a really old copy and I remember the gravel part lol. I’m not entirely sure though
The Lion King was also the last of three animated Disney movies with computer animation within traditional animation; here's the detail which had it: the wildebeest stampede!
Scar: im the king! You must do as i say! The lionesses: "-.-" I love the whole scar szene. It should really made it in the movie, it gives a good glimpse into scars mind but also zazus. I love zazu there.

I feel like it would have been better for them to leave in Scar exileing Nala so that way it would have been more interesting when Nala was in the jungle and she could have had her own little comeback to the pride-lands. (Like they showed at 11:31)
These deleted scenes prove That sometimes more is less, and that is what I felt the live-action films lacked, especially the forced comedy with Timon and Pumba
I just watched this movie for the first time and was thinking "Wow I wonder what it would've looked like if Mufasa had a song." and boy am I glad he didn't lmaoooo
I wish they would’ve kept the scar and Nala seen it’s creepy but it’s awesome and it kind of explains everything to be quite frank like if they kept that at least I would know why she bloody left besides food. Plus the kids wouldn’t understand what is really going on Anyways I also very much like the last one they showed it was perfect. I wish that stayed as well.
Honestly, I think that that is the only one of these deleted scenes that they should have kept. Maybe cut down some of the Scar/Zazu stuff to a more reasonable length, as well, as a good lead-in.
To be honest I would rather them keep the one where Simba and Nala reunite because it felt more serious because in the final version they act like they are happy for each other and fall in love. To me I feel like that was rushed and didn't really fit well with what happened after the events of Mufasa's death.
Even though Mufasa song didn’t fit his character, but in my opinion *he was passing a very important message to Simba* which I think that’s important too
I definitely believe that Mufasa needed more screen time and Scar having his own scene would also add to the movie in my opinion. It is a bit of a.. sinister scene... considering the implication towards Nala. A reprise of "Be Prepared" would've been banger though.
The biggest tragedy of Lion King wasn't Mufasa's death. It was losing that reprised version of Be Prepared. As for the creepy implications of Scar's proposal, it really is no different from Jafar trying to make Jasmine fall in love with him with a wish, not to mention what Frollo tried to pull off with Esmeralda.
I thought that last scene with Zazu was really funny, would have been fun in the movie (the voice acting is just too good!). I can see why the other scenes were deleted though. And I kinda like what they went with instead. But I agree with some, the Nala-Simba reunion felt a bit more natural in this version, like they actually knew each other here.
The proposal scene would have been good to keep as it added to the story and helped explain things. Weirdly enough, while this was my first time seeing the proposal scene in the cave, i could have sworn i saw the emergence of the hyeneas to the lionesses who wanted scar gone, plus the song reprisal that came with it on tv before fully animated. Am I crazy?

@@kittennamedtetra2019 "The Madness of King Scar", aye?
I honestly would love to see the proposal of scar in the movie
damn ur kinky
@@penelopeandpriscillaaregay1712 you have no Idea
Same
It's kind of creepy and weird
Of course u do
09:36 oh THAT was good. Scar’s eyes in the back while Nala running off would have been badass in the final
As creepy the mate/proposing scene is, I feel like it should have been included. It is not the only creepy song compared to Hell fire. It shows the down fall on the pride and the insanity of Scar. Also Nala gets a reason to be so far off from the pride lands.
Finally someone who remembers Hell fire!
I really wish the scene with Scar and Nala was kept in the film , but it makes sense that it wasn't
I like to assume that The Madness of King Scar was one of the main source for the Lion King 2 and even solves one of the main criticism of the second film.
Many people have pointed out that Zira was coming from nowhere but here, Scar stated that he considered having a family, so the idea that he find a woman and decide to adopt her son is not out of character for what was built for him in the first film
the "ive never been more serious in my life" genuinely sent shivers down my spine scar is such a slimeball
11:05 “friend?!” lol his face
12:45 “that was gas” LOL
I thank you -both of you for creating the Lion King, The Masterpiece, the characters, the feeling inside of every song they sung, the world they have and a beautiful story. 😭🧡
"I choose nala as my queen!" Bye
One of the things I love about seeing these early animatics is that the drawings are so loose and off-model just to get the feeling and direction across. Timon's drawings are especially hilarious.
“Be prepared for a stunning proposal” 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀 Scar dropping all his pick up lines for nala
The storyboards look like lil storybooks and I love that
Zazu instantly worried for whatever poor lioness get chosen by scar😂
Props to the people in charge of the movie. While some of these could have been interesting scenes in themselves, they wouldn't have fit the movie as perfectly as the others already in the movie, to tell the story. It's rare that I agree with good scenes getting cut, but the reasons are sound and it makes sense. Too much things would have been repeated if those were included aswell.
The Scar scene trying to "swoon" Nala (if you couldn't even consider it that, it's just creepy) would have actually ruined this film. Very good call to can the entire thing.
@@ForTheOmnissiah True aswell
I never want to hear that song mighty king ever again
Yeah its sounded off
So Scar was after Nala while Zira was Scars wife? OMG scar was such a player.
@Elisha Rei Idanan you're welcome 😊
OML😀🔫
I don't think Zira was Scar's wife. It's established that none of Zira's kids are Scar's kids, he just happened to choose Kovu to take over as king when he died before Simba took over.
Me : GASP*
@@gooshinggrannythesoorigina3842 I think Nuka is Scar's son
There had already been the original release of The Lion King back in 1994 with The Flintstones (live-action), Hans Christian Andersen's Thumbelina and Richie Rich. Then came a special edition of the film by a brand new song, Morning Report. It was sung by Zazu to accommodate the rationale of the balance of nature after daybreak in front of Mufasa and Simba. These deleted scenes actually look wonderful to add to the movie to extend it more. If Disney and a lot of other companies agreed to include the deleted scenes to their movies, they will be about the same length as the documentary books and novelizations.
I would’ve loved to have seen this in the live action lion King movie
It would've been cool to add some deleted scenes in the 2019 remake
@@samperry5383 You can't add or subtract movie scenes to a movie that is supposed to be a remake otherwise it would be called a RE BOOT. SMH.
@@raegonzalez7692 Not True. There are countless remakes that even change major aspects of the film while not making it a reboot.
In live action version they've made that little realistic thing for scar as his trying to take Sarabi as his queen , also they 've used some of the beginning of Simba and Nala's scene literally line to line
5:50
Scar you don't even know. Your son is thrown off to the side for an heir who isn't even your cub xD
"I will be immortal!" 😂
He then proceeded to die trying to appease his mother 💀
I'm overjoyed how all three Lion King films are a complete trilogy collection. Perhaps both stories of Simba and Timon and Pumbaa ought to play back-to-back before the second film. Kiara, Kovu, Zira, Ma and Uncle Max will reappear in The House of Mouse trilogy and The Lion Guard takes place before Simba finished Zira.
The lion guard is a nightmare regarding lion king canon 😭
@@kailathefox As much as I love The Lion Guard... I agree. The episode where we see Zira and her pride? Really?
Nuka: "Where are we?"
Me: "Wherever you came from before stealing Jaziri's water, duh!"
Zira: "Our new home!"
Me: "WTF?
I'm glad they cut what they did, the deleted shit just makes scar look like a doofus instead of a calculating threat.
Even though it's normal for a male Lions to mate with all of the lionesses. This is a family movie with animals who have human characteristics/Emotions. Makes for an unsettling scene if you ask me. But interesting content for my essay discussing the parallels of Hamlet and The Lion King.
THEY MADE THE DRAWING OF THE LION 🦁 KING OF THE ANIMATED OF THE LION KING JUST WONDERING, IF THEY HAD FUN MAKING THE ANIMATED OF THE LION 🦁 KING I WOULD IF I WERE THEM
Scar is all seven sins put into one character!! I SWEAR HE IS!! He eats everything, sleeps alot, the lustfulness when he wanted to be with Nala! The list GOES ON!!
Greed over the pridelands, envy of his brother, pride in himself, and obviously wrath. Yup. All 7.
Timon:"FRIEND?! FRIEND?! SOME KIND OF FRIEND SHE TRIED TO EAT PUMBAA!!"
11:04 Pumbaa: HUH? 😮
Okay no that Mufasa song needed to be deleted lol
OK The Rhino Joke Got Me 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

@@cineextras9396 The thing is that I'm from Brazil and I like to take these contents and subtitle them so that Brazilian fans can see and understand the scenes, you know?
It's a treat to see how The Lion King is made! The part where Nala gets banished makes a lot of sense. Because I always wonder how she left Pride Rock. The scene also reminded me of Simba banishing Kovu in Lion King Two.
Yeah I agree
Like if she left on her own... Scar would have noticed.... Right??
1:38 I’m glad that got cutoff because “I just can’t wait to be king” is better. Having both would just be redundant.
Ghfyyyuyfy
There could've also been an actual throne inside the main cave of Pride Rock, made out of actual mini rocks and a long big flat one; it would suit three lions, starting with Mufasa, Scar and Simba. If it got made, all those lion characters would definitely rule with honor and dignity. Scar was no longer next in line to be king due to Simba starting a new generation and Mufasa was bound to give the ruling rights within circumstance to Simba to commit it.
I love how Mufasa's theme is basically Be Prepared In Major Key
such a creepy scene but I love the madness of king scar in the musical, such a catchy and funny song. love it.
8:51 I like how the lionesses were gonna fight untill they saw they were outnumbered ❤
would that have been a ‘Be Prepared’ reprise?? 😭 that would have been so good
That storyboard for nala and simba reuniting I’ve seen full animation I swear, my gram had a really old copy and I remember the gravel part lol. I’m not entirely sure though
The Lion King was also the last of three animated Disney movies with computer animation within traditional animation; here's the detail which had it: the wildebeest stampede!
"something missing... what is it?" "YOUR GRASP ON REALITY." hehe
“Didn’t you hear me?😡” “No.💔”
this video was awesome love it. the song Mufasa sang made me think of Duties of the King from the Lion Guard.
Simba could've also told Timon and Pumbaa that everything he ever had was gone before stating that he now had nowhere to go.
Scar: im the king! You must do as i say!
The lionesses: "-.-"
I love the whole scar szene. It should really made it in the movie, it gives a good glimpse into scars mind but also zazus. I love zazu there.

😳I……uh…….scar was absolutely creepy
He was running in front of her to stop her escape. It’s still gross, though.
12:41 Ah, the original storyboard for the "It starts" gesture that had been made extra memorable by the video game.
I feel like it would have been better for them to leave in Scar exileing Nala so that way it would have been more interesting when Nala was in the jungle and she could have had her own little comeback to the pride-lands.
(Like they showed at 11:31)
bruh that be prepared-
These deleted scenes prove That sometimes more is less, and that is what I felt the live-action films lacked, especially the forced comedy with Timon and Pumba
I just watched this movie for the first time and was thinking "Wow I wonder what it would've looked like if Mufasa had a song." and boy am I glad he didn't lmaoooo
Scar (Jeremy Irons) was one of the many family relatives with an antagonistic nature. Lady Tremaine was like that as well, including Evelyn Deavor.
Mufasa’s song reminds me of the cowardly lion singing in the Wizard Of Oz lmao. It is a cute song though
Even though Mufasa song didn’t fit his character, but in my opinion *he was passing a very important message to Simba* which I think that’s important too
"What are the rinos charging these days" was funny actually
I definitely believe that Mufasa needed more screen time and Scar having his own scene would also add to the movie in my opinion. It is a bit of a.. sinister scene... considering the implication towards Nala. A reprise of "Be Prepared" would've been banger though.
The biggest tragedy of Lion King wasn't Mufasa's death. It was losing that reprised version of Be Prepared. As for the creepy implications of Scar's proposal, it really is no different from Jafar trying to make Jasmine fall in love with him with a wish, not to mention what Frollo tried to pull off with Esmeralda.
The Broadway's version of He Lives In You gave Mufasa the song he deserved
Zazu n Mufasa in the beginning literally felt like subtle flirting
Mufasa's song really doesn't fit
To me it sounds like Darth Vader singing
@@chavito808 lol
I kinda wish they had kept Mufasa’s song lol
Rest in Peace James Earl Jones 🙏🏽🕊️
I have to admit I never thought of what could be missing even after all theses years it surprised me
I see why the Mufasa song was cut out
The early scene of "Simba and Nala's reunion" the first scene has been used literally in 2019 version
5:41 voice actor switch? That doesn't sound like jeremy irons like the start of the scene did. But at 6:09 it sounds like irons again
Probably switched to Jim Cummings considering he sang end of “be prepared”
I’m sure they recorded some of it before they cut it and then had another actor come in to record the rest for the bonus footage.
When I rewatched lion king I thought I was tripping back when I was a kid when I didn't hear the morning report song.
I thought that last scene with Zazu was really funny, would have been fun in the movie (the voice acting is just too good!). I can see why the other scenes were deleted though. And I kinda like what they went with instead. But I agree with some, the Nala-Simba reunion felt a bit more natural in this version, like they actually knew each other here.
this gives me chills from when someone animated this madness of scar song
The proposal scene would have been good to keep as it added to the story and helped explain things.
Weirdly enough, while this was my first time seeing the proposal scene in the cave, i could have sworn i saw the emergence of the hyeneas to the lionesses who wanted scar gone, plus the song reprisal that came with it on tv before fully animated. Am I crazy?
